I'm coming over from Liverpool (UK) on May 8th for 10 nights and was really hoping to see Star Tours. I know that Disney do soft openings, do any of you have any idea if i'm likely to be able to see this when i'm there? If so any tips/hints of the best way? This could be my only visit and would be gutted to miss it!

Cheers.

ISo that means you're leaving on the 18th? That's only 2 days before the ride opens, so there's a good chance you'll catch a soft opening sometime on your trip. You'll probably want to check the OU Forums/Twitter/Facebook while you're there to see if it's open so you can make to to DHS to try to see it.

Thanks for the help. Are soft openings normally announced or is it just luck? Obviously we'll be doing tons of other stuff while we're in Orlando, but I would plan around it if we got any kind of notice.

Not sure where to ask this but what things are must do's while we're here? Not just in Disney but anywhere, we'll be based on International Drive by Wet N Wild.

They're not normally officially announced, but we usually hear something, so if you check the OU Twitter/Facebook you might see something.

From @WaltCast:
Soft opening for Star Tours may begin in less than a month - Passholders have been advised to keep an eye on their emails!

Anyone else (passholders?) hear anything similar to this?

I think I'm more excited for what they've done with the queue versus what they have done with the ride because I know the ride will be great.

Very good point! Hopefully there's just as much detail, if not more, than was in the original.

Think about if Jar Jar was in the ride, and reconsider what you said.

If he's not taken too seriously, Jar Jar can actually be some good comic relief.

I think Lucas is smart enough NOT to go down that road again.

Oh, it's easy to use the words Jar Jar and good in the same sentence. For example, "Jar Jar is not an example of a good character", or "Anyone who thinks Jar Jar is good is a bit crazy". See, simple!

How do you become a passholder? If you're not one would this mean you couldn't use the soft opening?

You purchase an annual pass, and they sometimes do soft openings, but when they do passholder previews, they won't allow anyone in unless they have an annual pass.

Sometimes for new attractions there is an Annual Passholder preview, and it seems from this news there will be one for Star Tours 2, and I would presume those without annual passes wouldn't be able to attend the preview.

---edit---

Vyrus beat me to it
