I hope not. Butterbeer is too damn expensive now.

I miss the days of the $2.99 Butterbeer. What used to be a drink I got every visit is now a once in a while deal.

I don't get to Disney as often, so I'll certainly try one of the Galaxy's Edge drinks while there if it isn't crazily priced.

I mean Lefou’s Brew is $5.79 so would imagine a Star Wars drink will be the same price or higher.

Was talking to a few friends who don't go to theme parks much and certainly don't go to Disney. I've only ever known them to go to Universal - a few times around HHN and a few around the holidays and Mardi Gras. They caught wind of the media blitz yesterday and it was all they would talk about for about 15 minutes today. And it's not like they are huge SW fans either. They're more what i'd consider to be casual fans, but they are already sold on the land.

I think quite a few of you are underselling just how popular it will be. This is going to bring out a bunch of people who would never feel like they have any other reason to visit a Disney theme park, I think. And I also think some of you are over-estimating how the huge fans will just automatically flock to Anaheim. If you live on the east coast and love SW, but are on a tight budget, you very likely aren't going to fly all the way out to Anaheim where tickets are more expensive and the flight is more expensive as well (rather than possibly just driving to WDW).

The main positive is that the land will be able to hold a ton of people. But I also feel like once people are in, they aren't going to leave for quite some time. It seems like you could spend hours in this land and still be entertained, even if you had fastpasses.

I believe this argument came up last week and I agree with you. This isn’t an area where people will just hit a both rides and leave. This will be similar to Potter in immersion and will keep people there well after there ride experiences.

Agree with all but especially about East Coast/Europeans going to Disneyland. People will wait a few more months to go to WDW for SWL than travel out to LA. Heck, even though I'm considering it (in lieu of going to WDW this year), the thought of getting out there is not enjoyable. I know that the good people from the UK on this site (and other countries) who travel here go through an even longer flight but four hours in the air is a long time. The draw for SWL is there but the bigger draw is being able to experience rides that WDW doesn't have beyond SWL.

I really don't get how people are surprised by the price point.
Yes, you can get something similar online and cheaper, but there are some simple things that easily explain the price(other than just the high quality).
  • The experience they are offering of building the saber;
  • Possibly it will have interactivity;
  • It's an official product;
And the main point that made me not be surprised a bit by the price
  • It's being sold inside a theme park;
Everything is overpriced inside the theme park. So even if it didn't have the building experience, I still wouldn't be surprised by that price.

I don't know if I misunderstood, but I think that I read in one or the articles about a droid track or something being built. I will try to find which it was.

I agree with the statement about tourists not knowing as much as we do but still not being unaware of everything, I just don't think I agree with the conclusion. I have a lot of reasons of why I think that, but as I know I usually write too much I will give what I think is the maint point: it will be worth visiting Disney.
Also, if the election affects in some way the tourism, it will be only from US tourists, which, I imagine, are a minority on WDW.

Its only an extra 2 hours to fly to LAX compared to MCO and the flights are comparable in price.

I’ll be hitting both coasts for Star Wars this year but that’s only because of D23. If that wasn’t happening I would’ve likely just waited for WDW.

Lot's of rumblings coming from Magic concerning 'possible' upcharges for some fastpasses and changes in the way they're allocated. Marni confirms there's been ongoing talks of some sort internally, but no specifics given......This sure sounds like something that may end up upsetting the Disney community.

I think that most folks will be willing to pay for fast pass and in the end the lines will be just as bad and fast pass will be just has hard to obtain, but now we are paying for it.

They always have their Tinkerbell panties in a bunch about something. But they'll go and pay whatever is necessary anyway.

Yes, because being upset about having to pay for something that didn’t have to be paid for before is so unreasonable and petty.

Sorry to single your post out, Nick, but w.r.t. all these excited Star Wars fans being described in the thread: I find it hard to believe that if they weren't motivated to visit by Star Tours, meet & greets with Chewbacca/BB-8/Darth Vader, a build-your-own-lightsaber shop, Star Wars fireworks, a daily Star Wars parade, etc. that they will be wowed by NahTattooine and Fuzzy Tauntauns. Other than the Millennium Falcon--which again, should have been built with Star Tours in some form--and even that features a character I assume most have never heard of.

The Disney community may gripe, but they'll pay it, because they are addicts. Tho I guarantee half a dozen GoFundMes from lower level bloggers/vloggers.

That's a hell of a bait-and-switch to pull on the real target demo tho: out-of-state families. Come next Spring, when this is the complaint of Little League dads and soccer moms across New Jersey and Long Island, you'll start to see the real effects. Unless capacity exceeds what's been leaked or they cap DHS attendance at a level that leaves the older rides empty all day, a lot of people are going to buy a $105 ticket and not get on either ride or in the Cantina.

It will certainly be interesting on how all these scenarios play out. A 'possible' charge for SW fastpasses is what intrigues me most. As you said, the Disney community will pay, but this really has the potential to complicate the planning process, and it's already too complicated for the casual vacation guest. The fastpass system is definitely broken when it comes to 'new attractions'. Too many hotel guests, especially with all the new 60 day ones added at non Disney hotels recently, chasing too few fastpasses on rides that don't have very good capacity. It's definitely 'watching' time. :popcorn:

It's fashionable to disparage Disney-exclusive parks fans, remember?

You really can’t see a difference between what’s been done before in terms of permanent attractions vs. what’ll be in this land?

If the price isn’t ridiculous and puts people off visiting, I don’t really mind.
