I get that Hollywood was low on space, but the sheer amount of things that were cut from the other versions of the land is mindboggling. The land wasn't built for expansion either. For reference, this is everything that Hollywood doesn't have and most likely will never get:
  • Donkey Kong: Mine Cart Madness (ride)
  • Yoshi's Adventure (ride)
  • Mario Motors (gift shop)
  • Funky's Fly and Buy (gift shop)
  • Pit Stop Popcorn (snack stand)
  • Yoshi's Snack Island (snack stand)
  • Diddy's Banana Bonanza (DK snack stand, I came up with the name)
  • The Underground (1 Power Up Band game, one free game)
  • Bongo Bash (DK Power Up Band game)
  • Casino (free game)
  • Music Blocks (free game)
  • Donkey Kong's House (meet and greet)
Missing a few of those things would be fine, but everything stacks up. Just think about the sheer amount of money left on the table from not having the gift shops alone. I went to the park a few months ago and while I liked it, you can feel something is off. I'm worried about USH attendance declining in 2026 after people traveling for Nintendo start going to Epic Universe instead. Why go to the version with 1/3rd of the stuff to do?

Comparing only what's missing from the Mushroom Kingdom would be a fairer comparison, but yeah, one look at the other two iterations and it's easy to see what's sorely missing.

Does Japan even have Power Up Band dispensers? If not, then maybe it wouldn't hurt to convert it into the Casino game with 4 other stores (including CityWalk) outside of the land to buy Power Up Bands in.

Even taking DK out of the equation, there's still a ride, two snack stands, one and a half gift shops (Hollywood's 1-Up Factory is half the size of the one in Japan), and several side activities missing.

It doesn't appear like there is power up band dispensers in Japan, but they have three carts for them (one outside the land and two inside it). They can't get rid of the dispensers unfortunately.

I'm aware, hence my remark on what's sorely missing.

Out of all the Mario things we are missing out on, I agree this is at the top of my list as well

I’d also a small Verizon of the Luigi mansion Ride, if it was a standing version then I could live with that over not getting it

Is it too late to scrap NintendoLand Ver 2.0 for Donkey Kong coaster & Luigi's Haunted Mansion?

The vast majority of locals are not going to go across the country in numbers that will affect USH attendance in a significant way.

Sure, a some will... maybe once a year. The rest of the time, they're going to be staying local. Not exactly a big hit to their bottom line.

Locals won't go to Florida, but a lot of people who traveled to the park specifically to experience Nintendo will.

I think it's tough to quantify how many people are going to Universal Studios Hollywood solely because it has the only Super Nintendo World in North America. I'm sure it factors into people's decision making, but I'm skeptical that a larger version of the land opening in Orlando will materially impact Hollywood's attendance.

Hollywood, even with the addition of Super Nintendo World, is a park largely attended by locals and tourists who want to see the studio tour. That'll almost certainly always be true given its space constraints.

I'd venture to say that USH is getting a temporary boost in attendance through 2025 because it's the only US version. If Orlando had opened SNW around the same time, USH wouldn't have been so overrun and might not be experiencing the crowding issues that it does.

Well, just four years ago we all said this park will never get a major coaster and look what they're building.

Maybe you're right, but once Japan's opens and the park guests will be giving GSATs of how much they want more coasters at this park....I personally think that's going to change.

I just don't know where they would put it. The only place to put a warp pipe to get backstage is below the ice area, but that's an emergency access road that needs to be open at all times. They COULD have put it inside Mount Beanpole, but that's all queue. And they won't tear anything down in a land that just opened, it would be a bad look. Unfortunately Super Nintendo World proper is boxed in and probably will always be boxed in. The only hope for more Nintendo is a separate land entirely.

That's not the problem. They already have the rest of their lower lot set aside for other expansion plans, and DKC doesnt fit any bill they see other than it being unnecessary. There's a reason it's going to Epic Universe and not USH.

Also F&F IS their response to more coasters in the park, while trying to be a theme park front and center. It will end there after its added.

Adding on--have basically heard DKC never existed for Hollywood in the proper sense.

Been thinking on it more though; I do think Pokemon has a shot--despite Chris G's talk on it before; but I think it really depends if Pokemon at USF does a Transformers from USH, and breaks the Orlando park. Pokemon is much more than just a game, it is a ethos and IP that dwarfs and rivals that of Star Wars and Marvel Comics.

I personally think this is a mistake. With Mummy getting axed, the park really needs just one more coaster that would be intermediate family coaster-level like maybe Hagrid’s or Florida’s Mummy. Having just Hippogriff and then jump right to F&F is going to be way too big of a leap. They need a coaster that’s in between. Not too intense but not to “meh”. Something an exhilarating, but not to the point to where you’re forced to put your phone and wallet in a locker.

Again, I will probably be completely wrong on this and this probably will be what their plan is. But I will say again: I think the park is really underestimating the positive response F&F is gonna get. Once that opens, I’m very confident guests will be wanting at least one more coaster to be added, especially in Mummy’s absence. They’re gonna need to add one more to offset the massive demand F&F is going to order.

I’m not privy to the plans for Mummy, but I’m gonna bet it won’t be replaced by another coaster. When people find out it won’t be replaced by a coaster, I don’t think people will be happy.

Besides, SoCal really could use a legeit, story-driven themed coaster like Hagrid’s, Cosmic Rewind, or the HTTYD coaster coming to EU. Florida has plenty of those but SoCal basically doesn’t. I’m not counting IncrediCoaster. That’s the closest thing we have but that is so half-baked and cheap it’s like the worst example.

Trust me I’ll lol when I’m wrong, but I genuinely think executives will want a more permanent presence of Pokémon whenever merchandise hits UOR or USH for it officially.

The cult of scalpers is on a completely different level than that of any other IP out there.

With the previous mention that we're not far off from Japan's Mushroom Kingdom footprint (IIRC), and that the other domestic SNW is setting in even more now, this just makes it so frustrating that we might not ever see more added to our SNW, which also just makes it easy to feel frustrated at the decision to not tear down Panda and Studio Cafe for the land and see it as the thing that ended up holding this land back. I know there's a camp that thinks they're fine, but now that the initial SNW hype has passed over for me, I think its shortcomings from what had to be excluded are becoming more apparent.

And sorry to ask again, but is there really no intel on how long that Panda contract even lasts? It'd be nice to maybe at least have some hope for when we could see some change.

I would love to hear what USH thinks is better then a DK coaster unless its a Zelda or Pokemon attraction I would just love to see what it could be that needs to be added to the park more

DK coaster makes it easy to take out Mummy and also fits with how big Nintendo is for the parks....I would love to know what a bigger win for the park could be
