So, no one has mentioned the coming Dreamworks Theater in Hollywood. Is there any possibility that this is what they have planned for the Terminator theater?

What is the Kung fu Panda show supposed to be in Hollywood? Isn’t it to be live action?

what about Pacific Rim? It's a stretch, but possible.

Regarding Star Trek...which era would they use if they did this? There's 5 distinct "eras" now with the original, the late 80's/early 90's, enterprise 00's (not guessing it would be that one!) the Abrahms Kelvin and now this new one that's iffy

That was just a regular brain fart. When you get to be my age you start having "wet brain farts".

Something to look forward too.

Man this is tough... Hindsight is 20/20 so pretty obvious now that they need this show up and running for 2019 due to them losing both Fear Factor Live and Animal Actors. So they need a "real" show to bring in the crowds during another transitional phase at the Studios.

So many possible IP's but do any of them make sense from a location setting? I cannot imagine them not reusing T23D theater but that means screens would be carried over. Yes they would replace them. But if a show like Bond or lets say even Bourne Identity since its a Universal property were the ones how to they fit within the blending of live action and 3d screens? Very tough to take real world present day style story into another dimension. Terminator works cause its SciFi and its all about going back in time to the future etc. Won't be an easy task imo if thats the case.

That brings me to something like Pacific Rim which is heavy SciFi and maybe easier to copy and paste into T2 and definitely more relatable to present day audiences. Plus Comcast loves synergy and they've got a new movie coming out. I'm leaving HTTYD out of the convo cause lets be real, thats getting its own land lol. Gonna be interesting to see how it all plays out though.

I really struggle to see how Bond would work as a live show. There’s a lot of history with this franchise, and while it would have a draw, people like the series for different reasons (just as many love the older, campier, less-feminist era rather than the dark and gritty modern movies). Everyone has “their Bond,” and unless you frame it like Indiana Jones (where it’s Harrison Ford’s stunt double), it’s going to come off as weird.

I could see it working at a ride much better... maybe as a replacement for MIB? Keep the same building, but with a new ride system? You could enter a casino, which leads to a hidden path to a queue with a gallery of props, cars, and gadgets. You could see Judi Dench give you a mission to save Bond, and much like MIB, the main character would only show up at the end (as an AA or screenz... possibly updating to a more recent Bond if Daniel Craig isn’t sticking around). And you could still have all the tropes and lampshaded commentary on the series, but done in a way that kinda makes more sense than a stunt show. Exit to a gift shop that has all new Bond, and will fill out your experience with all the older throwback merchandise. As a thematic bonus, it would be next to London if it was a replacement for MIB, although with the Knight Bus out front, London will always be “Harry Potter’s London,” IMO.

As far as Bourne, I don’t really know much about it. But if it’s an “government organization” thing, that already fits a lot of what T2 started with. And they could get around even having Matt Damon being in it at all, if they just make the main characters a protege, or someone trying to follow in his footsteps. That might work, but I’m lost on the brand recognition, or what they would do with marketing or fill a gift shop with. Bourne doesn’t seem to go in the family direction either, and until more is released, it sounds like a plan-B or step away from a more iconic franchise like Terminator.

Personally, I have always pictured that space with a nice dark ride in it... maybe a “Great Monster Movie Ride” that will tie-in to Horror Make-Up next door. This is more to do with park flow and layout... if you enter USF for EPA in the morning, you have to go straight, where Despicable Me gets swarmed right away (and through most of the day). Turning right into Hollywood leads you to... T2 (first shows are usually around 11, unless it’s peak season), HMU (ditto), ET/Kidzone (doesn’t open with the park), Animal Actors (another show).... A big dark ride at the front put hopefully spread people out a little bit, easing some tension on Despicable up front (or not).

Side note: I always wanted to ditch the Monsters Cafe branding, extend the building into Transformer’s overflow queue, and build a second level for premium seating for concerts or a lounge area during HHN or Marci Gras. They could reuse some of the ideas from Monsters Cafe in the queue for a Monsters ride. Especially now that Dark Universe seems to be faltering, might as well double-down on Universal’s most popular and recognizable brand. Doesn’t seem like it will happen that way, though. We always have Shrek 4D left!

It always makes me smile when they introduce a man in his 30s/40s as "Harrison Ford's stunt double" - was ok in the nineties. Still love the nostalgia of the show though.
