So yea...this thing was supposed to start in April. We're 6 days away from April and we don't have any more info on a closing date or anything.

In fact, we haven't heard anything since the initial wave of info.

I'm pretty sure this thing is dead.

Yeah, no op updates on their calendar for any days in April at all. Not sure how far out they post that info.

Interesting. I wonder if they'd be able to recover PR wise if Avatar AND Test Track go caput? Maybe they're putting everything into the Fantasyland basket? Hopefully they do something and soon. Test Track needs an overhaul if only to get that migraine inducing soundtrack out of the queue.

Well, Test Track won't really be a blip on the map aside from the fanbase, which they've already shown they don't care all that much about. Avatar might make a big splash in the PR department, but even that I doubt.

They'd be stupid to do so.

The whole ride needs to be redone in the biggest way. Who knows what's up here.

Maybe they're waiting until after Easter to announce the closing?. The end of April is technically still April

I mean, they usually have something like this announced months before hand. And Easter is only 2 weeks away, so it's not like announcing it now would do anything.

Oh I absoultely agree, which is why its so frustrating for the fans when they hear about this stuff. If you are going to build/rebuild a huge land/attraction, getting cold feet about it does not send the right message to the fanbase or to the shareholders. !@#$ or get off the pot!

Well, I mean unless GM dropped out I don't see why this wouldn't happen. I assume they're cutting Disney a decent check for this.

Wasn't Chevrolet footing the bill for this one, or did something change again?

If it is cnacelled, I guarantee GM wanted Disney to pay for something regarding the refurb, Disney said no, and GM said screw it.

It happened with the SSE refurb, which is why we have the craptastic descent we do.

Well I feel dumb...allergies and Monday mornings and no caffeine while at work do not make for a sharp mind y'all.

This was brought up on WDWMagic. Merfie (not sure if he is a member here but he used to post on WDWMagic), said this refurb is either scrapped or on hold/delayed. As someone stated, he reported this morning, I'm assuming he has his own blog (sorry Merfie, I don't follow you) that CMs would have received their new work locations by now and they haven't. I'm not familiar with how things like that work. I'm sure you all know better than I do.

What do you all think? Maybe Merf is right?

His article seemed very speculative to me, but at the same time he made a lot of good points.

Speculation based on personal knowledge though. He used to be a CM. He understands procedure and how things normally work behind the scenes.

For the love of Epcot, this HAS to happen. All the parks need something badly (save for MK now) and I will really lose faith in Disney if this gets scrapped too.

MK needs a new thrill ride badly, IMO.

Not trying to derail the thread, but quickly: Isn't Siemens still the sponsor? Did they just say no to any more ride money?
