Well it was a tad embarrassing in a way considering it only went up to the 25th and next year is the 35th...

And even if they were/are going to update one for the 35th, it'll be even more sad as it would show how they've done virtually nothing in the park the last 10 years.

I have been looking at this post all day but in the abbreviated list and I couldn't figure out what 25th and 35th stood for. Now I get it but I don't recall ever seeing this timeline picture/screen.

Timeline is depressing. "Look at the eventual destruction of Future World!"

Aaah, was that put up back when they had the very fun exhibit of old Epcot models and other historic items?

I'm surprised many people even saw that timeline because of where it was. Seriously that spot feels like a conference hall bathroom area after the conference had left.

If it was near where the exhibit was then it was indeed out of the way... an area I had never walked in Epcot before, and never walked again. I believe it was in the facade of the FW-west building that faces Imagination?

Yup exactly where it was. Last time I was there, there was literally nothing in there but this poster and the bathrooms. I really wish I had taken a picture now.

It's a shame to see the timeline go.

I had a Disney AP for years but let it go :D due to nothing changing. Attractions closed without replacement and the rest just got older and older. EPCOT looked like it was stuck in the 80s. Closing an entire pavilion? Absurd! Even the new Fantasyland was built for capacity issues rather than improvement. Thank Universal for giving Disney a kick in its complacency.

Yep me too. They didn't build me anything new so I left. Nostalgia only goes so far then it gets really stale. I was at both EPCoT and the MK opening years but it isn't enough to get my dollars any longer.

A bunch of different things have been in that building over the years, but it's the closest to the original design of Communicore. For years you could still find the old Communicore carpet in there with the logo.

Opened as Sunrise Terrace restaurant and was supposed to get the TRON arcade. Later Top spinning robots from Expo Robotics had a show in the main area - remove the walls and leave the path elevated as is and have the room go all the way to the plaza Windows, but of course close off the area for the restaurant. That's what it was. A big room with a lowered floor - why you still step down into that exhibit room.

The robots closed, sunrise terrace became Pasta Piazza and the coffee shop was added - Fountainview. The hall and such was then used to house Centorium while Mousegear was being built. Then it got its own makeover and with Innoventions became a WDI exhibit that previewed the VR tech used in the Aladdin thing at Disneyquest. That's the basis for the current walls and spaces within the building.

Ice Station Cool was added to the building, and Pasta Piazza closed, with the Fountainview coffee shop going seasonal and at one point becoming an ice cream shop. During this the back hall stayed open and occasionally hosted random tech exhibits. I went to a NASA display in there once. Character Spot opened and reused the restaurant space. Ice Station ditched the igloo and became Club Cool. Starbucks reopened the Fountainview with some tweaks.

As for flow, those doors to the back hall were the main Communicore entrances. The ones to the breezeway would connect with a similar clear cut path to the northern buildings. Innoventions ruined that setup and effectively killed foot traffic to the building. Why they chose to expand northwest while southwest was barely used has never made sense.

^ How much cash can Disney attempt to wring out an attraction. That thing is a dated horror show.

And very much a template for what we all expected with Maelstrom becoming Frozen.

Though.. in retrospect.. Orrin Shively is disposed as "terrible despot responsible for ruining EPCOT Center." It's just his legacy of unabashedly leveling everything within a building and then not putting much of anything back is.. memorable.

He was in charge of both JIYI and Test Track 1.0.

He literally said the artistry of those attractions was too intelligent for guests to understand.

I've been seeing rumors tonight of Guardians now taking over the Energy pavilion. Ride and show according to one who seems to be in the know.

There's talk of that in this thread: Guardians of the Galaxy to replace Tower of Terror? | Page 33 | Orlando United Forums

Apparently it'll be replacing 'Mission: SPACE' with new video.

This s incorrect, the rumor is that it will replace Energy. Mission: Space will be getting touch ups.
