I watched a video of Illuminations today and was mortified at the heavy use of lasers in the show. Do you all realize they had the same friggin lasers in NYC nightclubs in the 1970's and that was the last time they were moderately impressive. Now they just look like stupid and cheap replacements for fireworks, to me. Stupid straight lines in the sky. I aim this at both Disney and Universal and whoever else thinks they're wicked cool baby.

Yeah, when I saw the Universal Studio's night show on opening night I liked it a lot. Lot's of regular water screens, in addition to the barge water screens. More fireworks than now. Limited use of lasers. The last time I saw the show in May it was basically just the barge water screens, a few fireworks, and tons of lasers. It seems every year we've been there, the lasers have increased like a rabbit colony. I don't care much for the show anymore....Illuminations is overrated. I don't really enjoy it much. I'd rather watch Wishes or Fantasmic.

Illumination has that great 360 degree view from all around that lake. Not so much fun when you get the cloud from the low level pyrotechnics.

My favorite fireworks are Hallowishes.

I like lasers, they're a great element to complement a show but should never be relied on as the show like Illuminations does for several long moments during the show. The Fallout Boy concert at Universal had great use of Lasers, put Illuminations to shame.

Part of the reasons for the lasers was to give time for smoke to clear (lasers use the smoke to show up, and as they clear they can do more fireworks). At least, that was the original idea

Seems like lasers went from a supporting role to a starring role, unfortunately.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that lasers are cheaper than pyrotechnics.

I'll second that.

Also lasers aren't a 70's thing. Lasers are big with the EDM community and are most certainly wicked cool, baby. They just got a massive upgrade too in illuminations. Looking better than ever.

I remember them building smoke screens and drawing pictures in the smoke with lasers in the late 80's? thought it was amazing at the time, this show has changed over the years, evolved you might say.

Placing this in both this thread and the GOTG thread..for no obvious reason.

Height test balloons over Epcot today as plans for Epcot's Future World take shape

Height Test balloons have been rising over Future World..particularly the Universe of Energy.

Hey forum, I got a question for all of you... I read about Tron's Power Run possibility of taking over Life Pavilion. Is this rumor a possibility? is it even true?

Not a rumor that carries any weight so far. No credible sources have backed it.

Definitely a good idea though. specially if they are able to use GOTG at UoE, then Future World East would be pretty much updated... as long they give M:S the star tour treatment and have different programs with different planets (missions).

GotG is very unlikely at Epcot or WDW. I'm happy everyone else thinks it will.

All I know about Tron is it was looked at for MK.

Seeing as how the Life Pavilion is only used for special events anything in that space would be an improvement. Even a play ground.

Trust me, not me... to me GOTG is Marvel, and at home that means Universal... Just trying to look ahead to see if there's any future for "Future World" not pun intended

I have to agree with you, but that's the excuse they will always use. It is time they redo and expand upwards the Odyssey... A multi level building there could take care of any "special anything"

Tron Power Run was actually designed for MKs TL specifically until the budget guys came along and gave it the axe...
