Sounds like a good betting pool opportunity. Anyone want to set the odds? *Energy, *Space or *bad rumor. As the "Roulette Wheel Turns". A new soapbox opera.

Gotcha. I thought you were being sarcastic because I thought you were in the "not gonna happen at all" camp.

I'd like to throw my two cents in and say that Guardians of the Galaxy will actually be a Living with the Land overlay.

GoG isn't my favorite idea for Epcot, but if it ends up there then it makes much more sense in M:S. Otherwise, you're going to have two space rides right next to each other. If it goes that route, my hope would be to completely remove the M:S ride system and start over, though I know that's wishful thinking.

I would rather see GotG replace a ride most don't go on. M:S might make more sense from a theme point of view, but it would be a shame to lose a decent ride when there is an ancient boring ride next door begging to be put out of its misery.

Gene Roddenberry once said he would not let continuity stand in the way of a good story. I feel them same about theme park continuity.

I agree that Universe of Energy needs to be the next ride to go at Epcot (that or Imagination, it's a tough choice). I just personally dislike M:S and feel that having to have a toned-down version is tantamount to admitting that the ride system is a fail (personal opinion, I know most won't agree). Even though M:S is one of the "newer" Future World attractions, I hope it's days are numbered.

Close Mission Space, UofE, and Journey. Update Journey and bring back Figment. Update UofE and at the same time convert it into a 10 minute dark ride. Put an updated Horizons back in M:S's spot. Stop depending on sponsorships. In WofL, install GotG if you have to but be sure that it includes the song, "Hooked On A Feeling".

Personally, GOTG should go into DHS without question. I love the current soundtrack for Future World and don't want it changed. I don't get this mixing EPCOT into the movies. They have so many areas that they could tackle for science, the future, and whatever else and they just don't. Even adding some fun dark rides into the World Showcase. It's either pure laziness or stupidity. Not sure which.

Mind you, that is the opinion of someone who is most definitely not in the industry but just enjoys the parks.

Oh, the GOTG ride should start with the "Uga-Chaka, Uga, Uga, Uga-chaka" lines from that song.

Universe of Energy makes the most sense. They could just shut down the ride system, have guests enter the stationary theater and show a GotG short film.;)

Guardians belongs in DHS.

They don't belong anywhere else.
I can't stand Disney's laziness and continual push for 'synergy' and only using IP's for new attractions.

That being said, if they must put it in Epcot, Mission Space makes the most sense. They need a completely new concept for Energy...not GotG.

Too many empty buildings or attractions no one cares about. Personally I think they need to fix the empty buildings first. Start with Body Wars building and then move to the innovations pavilions. Once that is done they need to then address imaginations. Sea needs to a refurbish, but I think Nemo is popular enough IP that can wait for way into the future. But the tanks need serious help and more cool fish. Then add 2 rides in the countries and update all the films to be more up to date. In the end I think Future world should get 3 or 4 more rides and 1 or 2 smaller shows. The countries should get 2 rides. And refurbishments should happen to Seas and the country films.

And to Jungleskip, I think it can get an identity. The Future World should be about science and technology. I think the rides and shows should all have this concept in mind. Then you have the countries which is history and geography. I think it can still be a learning park, but still have rides and stuff that make it fun for every age. And when I talk about Science and I am talking about the earth sciences too, so they can still have the Land, Sea, etc. I think over where Test Track more physics/energy/space stuff, then in the middle technology stuff.

So, going back to this original post which summed up things nicely. I feel like the entrance could/should be rebuilt. It screams "I was made in the 80's". Now, I like nostalgia and the 80's but it doesn't have a classic vibe. When you are walking in, you pass Innoventions (skip please) and the WoL pavilion. As stated, put some great dark rides in those pavilions. I feel like Disney thinks that people are too stupid to appreciate rides built on science. In World Showcase, Italy and Germany are great candidates for rides. So is Canada (although it has the movie). If the rides are spaced throughout the Showcase, crowds would spread out through the park. As nice as the individual pavilions are, people do want rides in order to draw them into a theme park.

Disney shouldn't be afraid to throw in some thrill factor. A space ride mixing dark ride elements with an element of thrill. The adventure is a trip to another planet with a fun tour of a planet. Things go wrong and you need a little blast to escape. They could even have part of the ride be a planetarium feel with cool music and star projections. Again, mix the ride types and don't be afraid to use some imagination. Despite Smart Phones and computers, people still have some imagination left.

I watched a video of Illuminations today and was mortified at the heavy use of lasers in the show. Do you all realize they had the same friggin lasers in NYC nightclubs in the 1970's and that was the last time they were moderately impressive. Now they just look like stupid and cheap replacements for fireworks, to me. Stupid straight lines in the sky. I aim this at both Disney and Universal and whoever else thinks they're wicked cool baby.
