Assuming anything GOTG-related would come to pass, what are the odds Disney will even attempt to make it fit, thematically, in Epcot? I'd peg it at 10 to 1 against. I expect it would be indistinguishable from an attraction that could be right at home in either DHS or Tomorrowland.

Isn't that just movie concept art with the monorail added in? (based on searching Google for image)

Epcot, still popular, for the most part, though it does need Future World attraction additions and maybe a change in theme. These are the results of a survey on Touring Plans that I posted on another thread.....1,400 Respondents.
*Question: If you had 3 days at WDW and no park hopper, what park would you skip?...
MK..........................4%
Epcot......................11%
Animal Kingdom...37%
DHS.......................48%

Epcot, still the second most favorite park, by far.

Would love to see that broken down by age.

My guess is those 56 people (4%) that would skip MK are 20 somethings with no kids, that don't like their shins crushed by double wide strollers......Imagine what those numbers will look like once Pandora & ROL opens at Animal Kingdom. DHS numbers will probably reach the vicinity of 70-80% range.

Epcot's core demographic is essentially men in their 20's and 30's (now early 40's).

But generally dual-income-no-children (usually code for "gay") and younger people with no kids go there as a first park choice over MK as well.

Yup. Not sure if this was the original source, but the original art is on this page and other similar.

What?

I'd say Epcot core demographic is Foodies and Drinkers.

So I've decided to take the "dark path" and say, who cares if GotG fits into what "EPCOT" was supposed to be? That dream is almost dead and buried. It may no longer be the worlds largest science/history museum, and that's ok.

Bring on the Tron... I mean GotG coaster!

Hehe, Guardians of the Tron coaster. I'm all for it.

I feel like if they keep Living with the Land and Spaceship Earth intact (besides minor updates) the original EPCOT Center will always be alive. Just rode Living with the Land again the other day and I can't believe how beautiful a dark ride the first half is, going through rainforests, deserts, and farmland -and- how informative the second half is, going through the greenhouse and fish farms. Keep that ride and a little piece of EPCOT Center will always live on.

With the drinking Epcot demographic, everything is just a blur anyway. No need for theme costs. Just paint pink elephants all over the park.:)

So.. one thing I've learned recently is that hipsters have a purpose. I know, shocking, right?

It turns out their handlebar mustaches and hand-whittled wood nametags come with an interest in EPCOT Center, because, you know, they liked it "before it was mainstream." So as their tight pants and paisley shirts shuffle into WDI they're advocating for EPCOT Center.

That aside, for the "state of Epcot" - a minor update: Festival of the Arts is doing well. More guests on event days than projected.

More negativity, who would have ever guessed? The festival did seem like a cool concept.
