FYI, this is the thread for the existing WWoHP. The Phase 2 thread is on the Misc. Universal board and any discussion about Phase 2 should go there.

No, you 'come on...'. I will not presume to know how you get your thrills, but I find rides like Dinosaur and Spidey to be extremely thrilling. Thrilling is so user specific. Hulk is thrilling for me, DC is terrifying, Mummy is fun, thrilling and a feast visually but, has broken too many of my sunglasses.

I expect and hope that Gringotts will be in the genre/category of Mummy. That will allow most 9-10 year old children (and up) to ride.

Exactly. No one is saying this has to be Flight of the Hippowhateveritscalled, but it's not gonna be the Hulk. And it doesn't need to be in order for it to become a great, fun ride.

Many are speculating that the gringotts ride will be comparable to Mummy in terms of thrills and execution. If that's the case, does anyone else see the possibility of Mummy becoming quickly outclassed and irrelevant? If potters ride offers a similar ride experience with more impressive, elaborate theming, what's the point of mummy? After all, many of mummy's effects would be more at home in a carnival, the AAs have seen better days, the storytelling is atrocious, and the coaster portion is completely barebones.

And for the record, I like the mummy. Just some food for thought.

This is what I am expecting from the Gringotts ride. Then we will have the Hogwarts Express and hopefully that walk through attraction to balance it out better than the IOA side.

^ I have never been to a carnival where they blow off propane fire every 15 seconds, if at all. Fire is quite a signature of that ride, especially the 'burn room'. Plus, the Egyptian queue is the best in the country, if not the world (when it comes to ancient egypt themes).

Yea, Mummy is still a world class attraction. Rides will always become less advanced as the new generation comes online, but that doesn't mean they're obsolete or unneeded.

I don't mean that Space Mountain is more thrilling to ride than Spiderman; I definitely find SpiderMan more thrilling and exciting, a greater sensory experience. What I meant is that a roller coaster like Space Mountain is more of what I categorize as a "thrill ride" than SpiderMan, which I'd categorize as a "dark ride." I call a "thrill ride" something that is more intense, with higher speeds and a bigger 'danger' element. Spiderman is not intense physically, except for the spins and shakes, it's all simulated 'danger.' Do you know what I mean? I'm not using the term "thrill ride" in the same sense as defining something as "thrilling." Maybe I'm using the term incorrectly, but hopefully now you know what I mean ;)

I expect Gringotts to be a dark ride / coaster mix, but without any inversions or violent movements. I expect some parts with speed, and maybe some dips, but nothing too intense that'd keep kids or "sensitive" riders away. Gringotts has a sort of mine set up, with the tracks and the carts, so that's why a roller coaster track is the most likely option, in my opinion.

Well given Universal's new found interest in upgrading attractions maybe this would be a perfect reason to do some major upgrades to the Mummy.

Yeah, some moving Mummy guards and a new projection in the scarab room would be pretty good.

I'm still hoping that Gringotts will be a more thrilling attraction than FJ. At least on par with HRRR thrills in a Mummy type setting.

I feel like this is a nice "easter egg" already in place to connect with what's to come with the expansion.

Definitely. I think what we should be hoping for, is good lighting that doesn't make them look like actual screens. For example, in the last scene of FJ when we re-enter the castle through the courtyard, the overhead lights are so bright, the screens have a sort of white glow and it looses some of the effect. Similar thing happens in the Dark Arts Classroom and Dumbledore's office. The trio and Dumbledore don't look as good as Christopher Walken does in Disaster! because of the lighting in the rooms.

The fire is one of the only impressive elements of the attraction at this point in my opinion. The horribly lit warrior flats during the coaster, the hilariously terrible Imhotep AA (I don't care how advanced it is, it's incredibly fake now), the motionless warrior statues, the floating, mist breathing Imhotep head... Yeah, carnival-ish for me.

I fully expect it to be more "coaster-ish" then Mummy, but not crazy like DD or Hulk. Im expecting a 4/5 Thrill level. Where Forbidden Journey is closer to a 3. Which is also where I would rate both Space Mountain and Spiderman. Of course it's all up to personal experience and preference. Universal Studios has more kid friendly rides then Islands does, so I am expecting the new Potter ride to help even that out.

Not to mention, you may notice that the more thrilling rides seem to have the longest waits (except maybe DD, which is always a short line due to how quickly it handles capacity)

Space Mountain may be a little more thrilling because it's not simulated, but simulated rides are still very thrilling.

One last thing....I keep seeing "Coasters? That's what Six Flags is for"...you guys do realize that there is no Six Flags in Florida right? The closest thing we have to Six Flags is Busch Gardends, and that is abour 3 hours from Orlando.

It's not going to be any more thrilling than FJ/Mumy. I'd also expect it to have more show scenes than Mummy does.

It doesn't matter if there are no Six Flags in Florida. And even comparing BG to Six Flags is an insult.

Universal is a world class theme park. Needs balance.

Wait, Busch Gardens is 3 hours from Orlando? I thought it was in Tampa and only 1 hour? What am I missing?
