The thing I’m worried about (at least for the movies performance) is that Leto is not nor has he ever really been one to get butts in seats at the theater, plus recent track record has been shaky.

I’d have chosen someone younger and done everything in my power to get someone like Timothée Chalamet or Barry Keoghan. People forget that Leto was cast for this in 2017 (no joke) when he was much hotter.

Agreed. The dude is aggravating but he’s done good stuff in the past.

I just don’t have much interest in returning to this world — especially if we’re not hanging out on the grid the whole time. Legacy is visually engaging but the only thing I remember about the movie is its banger of a soundtrack.

I’ll absolutely be there for this opening weekend bc I absolutely love Tron: Legacy, but I also recognize that I’m in the minority of people who just really love it.

I like both TRONs, so I'm absolutely looking forward to this.

It's one of the few things on Disney's slate for the next couple of years I can say that about!

He seems to be firmly in Blade Runner 2049 mode here, which is the only mode I find him palatable in.

Still "ugh" about Jared Leto... but at least it looks great visually. The music sounded good & blends perfectly with what Daftpunk gave us for Legacy.

Hopefully this does well & Tomorrowland can get Rockit Rods 2.0 at Disneyland

I can't help but just enjoy seeing Jared Leto. he's so good looking. I always enjoy seeing him lol
he always looks like a vampire which I really like. ( I know I know, morbius) he always has a goth/ horror look to him in general.

October's pretty wide open this year for "big" event movies (it's really only TRON and a couple horror films). So if it's a good movie and its word-of-mouth is good, there's little blockbuster-type competition for it until early November.

I liked this quite a bit, with the (big) caveat that the screenplay defiantly refuses to really do anything interesting with the subjects it's flirting with.

But the film frequently looks phenomenal. The action beats are pretty fun. The Nine Inch Nails score hits hard and sets a great tone. The Grid is an evocative environment, and transporting some of those aesthetics into “reality” yields engaging visuals. Sure, that’s all surface stuff... but that’s actually the most important stuff (to me) in a TRON movie, and ARES delivers more than enough of that.

Everyone’s standards will be different, but I feel like I got exactly what I thought I was paying for with this.
