The “Classic Monsters” IP relates specifically to the movies Universal Studios released from the 1920s to the 1950s. They’re the black-and-white, Lon Chaney films. Not Spielberg.

Saying “Jaws is a classic monster” is like saying “Secret of NIMH is a Disney movie.” The inaccuracy is understandably; it’s still inaccurate.

A launched BTTF coaster would just sound so cool in a Sci-Fi World.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I warm up to it...The fans would flip, and I'm sure it would be an instant hit...But the original incarnation will never return

The Monsters are iconic, and gaining a bit more momentum as Universal has started to acknowledge them again

It’s a well known film, but if Universal is going to have a “Classic Monsters” area of the new park it won’t include Jaws. That film is not considered part of that IP. Even if they just generalized it with a “World of Monsters” idea, I don’t see Jaws happening. They’d include Godzilla in there before Jaws.

Now I know there has been lots of "haters" about resurrecting a classic ride, but one thing Disney has over Universal is nostalgia. I don't think it would be a bad idea to bring back a classic and bring it to a WWHP level of detail.

I would jump for joy to see a Jaws ride that turns up the horror factor, Back to the Future as a test track meets Spiderman attraction, Ghostbusters point and shooter attraction in the likes of how Luigi Mansion has been talked about, even a new E.T. indoor ride to replace USF extremely dated ride.

If Universal really wants to make this park successful, they need to understand the Disneyland/Magic Kingdom style parks. You don't need everything to be an IP. As long as the characters are involved into "generic-themed" lands like Frontierland/Adventureland, you don't need to base rides off them. Now, obviously an-all Nintendo land is coming and will be fine because Nintendo itself as a name is a huge draw. For the rests of the land however, they can integrate generic themes while integrating characters. For example, you can create an entire Jungle themed area and then be able to fit Madagascar and Jumanji while adding an original themed coaster.

I can agree with all that you said minus E.T., E.T. is a wonderful attraction because of what it is. A nice refurb to bring in enhancements and upgrades fine but not not an overhaul/new ride. E.T. is perfect the way it is, small improvements? fine but change? bad.

After looking at some of the videos of the WB Dubai project, I'm thinking we may see some of the same kind of indoor placemaking being done here in Orlando with the new park. My thought was that the entry (Main Street) area could be done as something partially enclosed similar to the way Main Street USA at TDL is done. This could offer an escape from heat and rain in the summer and the cold in the winter.

It would offer some cool possibilities for entertainment like the covered Freemont Street in Vegas:

It could also be a great way to give an amazing reveal at the end of the street at a hub or some central weenie (like when you enter Diagon):

I would argue that it'd have to depend on how it'd be handed.

Hell, one of those GA mentioned, is located in a country that gets quite a bit of Typhoon covering; Tokyo Disney. I think it'd depend on how it'd be handled of-course, but if they weren't able to see areas that'd be covered for guests; then Knockturn I would argue wouldn't exist as it stands now.

Besides money, I think the biggest reason is the layouts of the park's entrances here in Orlando.
For example, IOA's entrance isn't "straight" like Main Street and would be difficult to cover. USF has very low buildings at its entrance and a shelter (tall enough to allow parades) would stick out. Hollywood can probably fit one.
At WDW, Epcot is too spread out to have one, at AK it would ruin the "theme". Only DHS and MK could fit one, but ruining all those MK/Castle photos would sour guests. I think more off to the side streets like Knockturn would fit better.

CocoCay has a partially covered water park...so I don't see it being a hurricane code issue, more of a layout issue for most designs that are current. Either too wide making the roof too obvious and out of place, with possible columns needed to support, or buildings being too low and making the area covered feel cramped and claustrophobic.

I like open air, but if they were able to make a nice high covered entrance I think it would be a nice change with the Florida heat and help with that liquid sunshine.

Covered Enterances and things have the ability to withstand hurricanes etc as the "glass" usually isn't actual glass. Mind you USJ also has one as well. Also how do people explain Carkitt Market...which is a covered area

I spent a decent amount of time in Port of Entry the other day and I have to say, I really hope that the entry to Fantastic Worlds (or whatever it will be called) is on that level. The only thing the new park will need that PoE doesn't have is an icon at the end of the entry way.

If UC just puts the new entry on that level, I would give them a D on the grading scale. Its been almost 20 years, they should, would, and could do so much better. It should be at the minimum 3x the level of immersive Port of Entry currently is and optimally 5x better.

I mean, PoE is incredibly well themed and an example of Universal actually doing something Original and it working. Just because it's 20 years old doesn't mean it's any less beautiful. Sure I would expect a much longer entry way with more detail to be seen, but don't act like PoE is something UC should be ashamed of.

What’s wrong with Port of Entry? It’s a great entrance to the park.
