Yep, nice catch! Universal can ignore, deny and keep hush-hush all they want, but the info will just keep seeping through the cracks! :P

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Universal will announce the addition of WWoHP for Universal Studios Hollywood next week: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204397704577070691060558140.html

Surprising.

IDK wow is all I can think.. I know everyone has their price but the way JK kept being so pushy about things you would think she would only allow one park..

If it's true, Universal has made a serious, serious mistake.

Apparently, the rest of the article mentions that expansions to Universal resorts worldwide could happen. I imagine they'll one up our version without space restraints/retrofitting preexisting attractions.

I think it will suck for us in Orlando cause now really if this happens the focus for Orlando is gone away and I then feel Universal will fall back into it's pit of no return again. (Meaning allowing the parks to fall apart like they have the past 10 years)

NO Please! I want a WWoHP expansion, not a clone or other Potter attraction elsewhere! :( Look at the domino effect that the WWoHP had in Orlando! All the parks are upping their game to compete with Potter and try to get some of the crowds coming to Orlando for the WWoHP. If Potter goes to California this will all be diluted... Let's hope this was a bad tip or misinformation, and that the announcement will be for Phase 2, Orlando!

WOOOOOHOOO! Hate to be the only person on here to be happy, but if this is true, HOLY CRAP! 5 hour drive to Harry Potter! I know we're all about the authenticity of the Wizarding World, but you should put yourselves into the shoes of someone like me. I'm a grad student in California. If I was lucky, I'd be able to afford to take a trip to Orlando once every 3-4 years.

Also, I don't see how this would cause Orlando to go into a creative recession. From what we've seen, an expansion is still in the cards, plus a new attraction at USF. I don't think it's the catastrophe everyone is making it out to be.

I'm in your shoes. Only been to Florida (Disney) once when I was in elementary school. Hoping to finally get to the WW within the next year or two. But I still hate the idea of two distinct HP theme parks BOTH in the US. I wonder, are they going to be identical, or will they have different rides/attractions...?

It greatly diminishes UOR's appeal. Especially if an expansion doesn't come.

And USF can add what ever it wants. It won't boost attendance like Potter.

Plus, I'll be really disappointed in JKR if she allows another Hogwarts to be built.

So, it seems Universal is trying to milk this one for all it's worth. I really don't think this will work, or have the same effect in USH. But hey, we know they are cheap there. Maybe we'll just get a Potter mural on the side of one of the soundstages. Money talks I guess.

An expansion is going to come, they have too much "dead' room at LC.

There are two Disneylands in the US. I don't begrudge anyone in Orlando the fact that they have a copy of my favorite park, why begrudge me a land?

I have to shovel out $1,000+ if I want to see Hogwarts. It would be nice to be able to pay for two tanks of gas instead.

And you all do realize that if this is happening, JK isn't going to let them "bastardize" it with low funds right? I mean, SHE WOULDN'T EVEN LET THEM BUILD BIGGER SHOPS. Why would she let them churn out a crappy replica?

OK, maybe not a catastrophe :P And I guess that if it's a similar park it wouldn't be so bad. But I admit I'm being selfish here and I really want the priority to be an expansion here in Orlando before any other Potter projects anywhere else.

That's because the Magic Kingdom is not the same as Disneyland. The Magic Kingdom was done to be bigger and better.

Apparently opening by 2015.

Not good for an IoA expansion, IMO. This is so bizarre.

Not good for IOA in general. This will drain not only West Coast tourists, but those traveling through Cali to get to Florida.

And I think people are focusing too much on the cloning and not enough on the fact that UOR was dying before Potter. Diluting the resort's appeal is moronig.

An expansion needs to be announced at the same time for this to not be a completely terrible move.

My thought on this is that USF is getting a clone of WWoHP2. They will be built simultaneously on both coasts. This enables them to save money in the long run. Disney has done this with Midway Mania, Tower of Terror, Star Tours, etc.

Los Angeles Times http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/ent...-potter-theme-park-coming-to-los-angeles.html

Now, news reporters definitely aren't the most educated when it comes to theme parks (that's something we learned from experience ) so I would definitely take this with a grain of salt. Especially the use of the word "replica". There's no way they would replicate it. That just sounds ridiculous to me

Exactly. See my post above. This will kill the chance IOA had at building on this success.
