I dunno! The Metropolitan Museum's collection of Egyptian Antiquities is one of the largest outside of Egypt... for my money, Mummy has a good 10 more years of staying power. It is a very good attraction.

I agree it is a very good attraction, and I think it could stay. But I wouldn't be surprised if Gringotts didn't completely cannibalize Mummy's attendance.

The new Potter section will canibalize ALL of the other attractions. That doesnt mean people will stop riding the Mummy because they can go on Gringotts instead. Mummy is one of the best rides at the park. It's like saying people will stop going on Peter Pan because Little Mermaid is opening in Fantasyland. Of course the new attraction will be super busy, but people will still go on the old rides too.

If Mummy stays, I really hope it gets some upgrades. It's going to pale in comparison to whatever Potter offers. (Hell, in its current condition it pales in comparison to a lot of existing attractions at the resort.) It was a ride built on the cheap and it shows.

While it is a ride built on the cheap, IDK if it necessarily shows. It needs upgrades here and there, but it's definitely a quality attraction.

It's 2008,2009 all over again! Exciting things are occurring!

Live for this! And going on vacation to Universal in a couple weeks, definitely going to be more observant on the Mummy Ride.

Hindsight is 20/20. If you recall, about 5-6 days ago I was wondering what kind of projectors Uni uses. Once I found out, I looked up the dealers in Orlando and found three. So then I asked my source which company was doing the install. I was shocked and stymied when the reply was "3rd Shift". It made utterly no sense to me at the time and I believe I at least said, "Really?!?!?!?, that doesn't make sense!", yet I didn't press the issue... I just let it go.

For those of you who don't understand: The DEALER always does the install on an expensive piece of new equipment.

But you have to agree, it's starting to show a lot more than it used to or should. A little work could go a long way.

Disney is still scratching their heads trying figure out how Universal built not one but two Mummy attractions for 20+ million dollars less than Expedition Everest.

That would imply that for a second, Disney actually cared about WDW anymore. So I doubt it.

Well, it is my direct quote taken from a conversation in 2005. They used to wonder such things...

So if they will be installing new equipment in Mummy that means there is something there they wouldn't want them to see either, something Potteresque.

Or maybe UO is just saving a buck without paying for install

I could be wrong, but I think he was implying that the projectors on the Mummy in fact aren't anything new.

^ yeah... the 'new' projectors installed recently aren't in fact brand new.

I think someone mentioned in recent pages the idea of 3D on a new potter e-ticket and yet I kind of breezed over it. Could they possibly be using these old projectors in their old configuration to down-dirty test how 3D might work on a coaster set up. Yeah, I know, 'the glasses will come off!!!' but you can't come up with something new without creating something new; this would include a whole new kind of eyewear. I am going to keep my mind open to it. A goggle look would be soooo cool.

Yea its been known for a while that Premier Rides was the one who built Mummy, which is why we all rank on how ugly the cars are.
