LN would use a super insulated small diameter delivery line with a solenoid valve near the point of discharge.

I'll be home in a little over an hour will analyze more at that time.

Didn't Dueling Dragons (back when it opened) have a record for the longest most elaborate queue to an attraction? Is it still one of the longest queues, or is the one for Forbidden Journey or another attraction longer?

It used to be a very, very impressive queue. One of the best in the world. Now, it's just a shell of its former self. I say paint the Dragons black and a light gold, then build a dense forest around the tracks. And some real landscaping that isn't ponds and weeds.

I will have to ride this next time I am there now as I have not been on DD since HP opening (long, dry spell without AP's).. And I am curious as to how the queue was changed.. I do remember it being very elaborate back in the day

Dueling Dragons was an amazing ride, then they killed the queue and the entire point of having 2 coasters. Now it's meh

Not sure if a lot of trees would work. Then you have to work to constantly prune them so they don't become a safety issue.

I had almost forgotten that the "dueling/challenge" aspect was now gone as well... They definitely need to paint and possibly even re-invent the ride so that it is up to date, they don't duel, or challenge one another and they are not fire (red) and (ice) anymore.. Update this coaster to fit with the wonderfully done surrounding area..IMHO for whatever that's worth

I feel the Dragon Challenge will fade to the background for a while if it isn't fixed while it's closed now - focus will go towards the rest of the expansion, and figuring out what they can do to get that as top notch as possible. But who knows - hopefully we get an amazing (and much needed) refurb on this once great attraction.

Pictures as promised . . .

Pipe-003.jpg

Pipe-001.jpg

I have seen the following on site:

  • 8 pcs. 20' seamless steel insulated tubing
  • 4 pcs. 90d seamless steel tubing
  • 4 pcs. 22 1/2d seamless steel tubing

I would say the OD is 14" to 18".
Definately has welded joints.

Hockeyman please correct me if anything appears wrong.

Thank goodness you took a picture of something that interested/perplexed me Bob! Otherwise, my eyes have kinda glazed with boredom on this project since the embankment.

Are there any good photoshopped pictures of DC to show want a potential repaint would look like?

I saw the original queue back in 2000, I remember it was almost like a haunted house with frozen or burnt knights hanging from the ceiling. It was very cool and made the wait bearable. As far as the actual length of it though, is it still considered one of the longest queues?

Honestly I'm not sure if it's worth adding anything additional to the queue at this point, because there's never much of a wait anymore so you would just walk right past it. I would rather have them use that money towards the ride itself, or paint/theme elements around the actual ride track.

I notice on FJ often times you rush through most of the wait. I wonder if the Gringott's queue will have a different feel. Probably due to the station loading at Gringott's the queue will be more stop and start.

I didn't know the perplexing insulated pipe existed in the first place so I could never have asked. But thanks for the offer!

I have always loved the DC queue and still do! I am always disappointed to see the longest wait times only up to 5-10 minutes as I think it deserves a lot more attention! Sounds kind of funny, wishing a ride would have a longer wait time...:P I agree with everyone though, they really need to re-invent this ride. I'm sure the reason it doesn't get much love is because of this. They really need to do something to it before Phase 2 opens. It's always surprised me why nothing much has happened to this attraction.

^^Awesome re-color by the way!

I think I could crawl through those black pipes, Bob!

At this point, I'd be content with any color so long as it doesn't clash with Hogsmeade.

Exactly. It definitely sticks out like a sore thumb as is. Was Flying Unicorn a different color before they overhauled it in Hippogriff livery?

That would be a fun repaint! Yellow could represent Hufflepuff, but I have no idea what grey could resemble in the HP universe.

I'm ok with the red track staying red, but it should be a more subdued red. Blue needs to become black or gray.
