I believe that lies on the hands of JKR. I believe it was one of the turning factors for here giving Universal the right instead of Disney, would want to build large open supermarket like stores (well you know what I mean).

I love JK Rowling. But I'll be damned if she doesn't know the first thing about the logistical nightmare that is theme park crowd flow/control.

It was something about how she wanted it to be as exact as it could be. With hogsmead only being a town not a theme park. Hence the small space. Also why the streets are not at full theme park width.

I guess you'll be damned  jk jk...

In all seriousness, Jo Rowling demands authenticity and that's paid off, not big time, HUGELY.

Yeah, the tight space is a headache, but it is authentic! I have never been in one Hogsmeade shop to this day. It is problematic and successful because of it. Wild truthoid huh...

One of the best stories is how Olivanders was supposed to be anyone can enter at any time and the rails weren't in place because she didn't want it to have a line.....needless to say that didn't work out and now the rails are there to cope with the daily 45 minute wait.

Also, her approval is why Journey just got those new rails out front. Every detail and improvement is approved by her and she doesn't like the fact that her village and castle have to be logistically planned.

The new Ollivanders will have an indoor and outdoor queue with part of the outdoor queue covered.

Huh... I wonder how they're gonna do the indoor queue. Can't figure out how that'd look authentic to Olivanders. Maybe go through a room full of shelves with a bunch of wands, and then you get to the desk area, which would be the main show room?

Around back and very short indoor section vs the outdoor section.

How short are we talking? The Ollivanders queue isn't typically too long length-wise; the show just loads remarkably slowly.

With the space in the shops there needs to be a balance, the first time I went the Hogsmeads shops were crammed, you couldn't move. I left as I couldn't stand being that penned in. I know they are after authenticity but not at the cost of comfort and sales.

But the cost of comfort and a few sales (yet they gain more because of it), it not much when you put it against the fact that they only got the contact because they were willing to do it like that, and that the authenticity is one of the most praised parts of the land. You just can't have both.

Fair comment and you make a valid point, also looking back at how quick phase one made it's ROI I don't suppose the thought of lost sales has even entered there minds.

Curious what peoples thoughts are on the Hogwarts Express locomotive ( where the driver sits) do you think they'll have some sort of driver maybe not actually driving it but monitoring speeds ect. Kind of like the Disney Monorails ?

Might not have an engineer, maybe a conductor to watch the passengers.

ah-Ha! This is what I was looking for in the original WW thread. This is how far along construction was February 3, 2009; 1 year and 5 months before it opened. Note that there was not as much done at that time as there is on the current phase II.

For those who complain about the size of the shops, where were they supposed to get the extra room from?

Not really a complaint but more of an observation, you gotta admit the shops can be quite claustrophobic. Maybe if they had 1 less shop they could have opened up on another, just an idea.

Uni also realised this by adding an extra exit from Olivanders.

Posted in response to my "complaint"

But remember, Potter 2.0 is twice the size of the original WWOHP.

I cant remember where i saw the list of shops of Potter 2.0 but i remember some of them where just labeled shop instead of the already confirmed or rumored shops. Does anybody know what those unconfirmed shops might be yet?? Another thing im shocked to hear is that 2.0 is twice the size of the original expansion. The area looks small for some reason..i was getting worried for a second we were all getting our hopes up on the size of it.
