I think the selling of 3D glasses, especially kids one would be a good idea. I keep wanting to get my daughter a pair that would fit her, but would have no clue which ones would interact with the rides properly.

The only issue I see with this, is the tech for the newer rides (spiderman, superman, etc) is different than the tech for the older rides (Shrek, T2). So not sure if the higher tech glasses would work for the lower tech ones. Hence why I have never done the research to figure out if I can get glasses for her. The big ones given out at the parks fall off of her and she now likes to keep them on the whole time when watching 3D shows like Shrek or Philharmonic.

I wonder if they could do something like Disney did with those interactive pins they had years ago except have the 3D glasses interact with the ride and light up during certain parts of the ride.

The glasses are not compatible. The Spiderman/Transformers/Despicable Me glasses work by changing the wavelength of the colors (See Dolby 3D). The others use the old-style polarized glasses. The Dolby 3D glasses are great because they do not require specialized screens to reflect more light, but they are much more expensive and aren't designed to be disposable, so most theaters still use the old-style polarized glasses.

So basically they would have to sell two kinds of glasses, which is why I don't think they would ever go down this path. It would confuse people too much, but I seriously would love to get cute 3D glasses for my daughter that would actually fit. But most kids my daughter's age won't keep glasses on, so probably not much of a market for it. My daughter won't take her sunglasses off half the time. Ironic since my son has real glasses and he won't keep them on. So the one that needs them takes them off and the one that doesn't need them won't take them off

Ok, I've updated my previous attempt at a site plan for the new Diagon Alley.

I'm still not sure about the location of Borgin & Burkes, or the Gringott's queue area. I put Wiseacres over there, thinking that's where the Gringott's exit is (anyone know?). I'm leaving the dragon in red as an unknown for now (in my opinion, it doesn't belong). And I'm leaving Flourish & Blotts as a possible full store until someone tells me it's not there (in my opinion, it does belong). Oh, and I forgot to take off Owl Emporium - I don't think it's gonig to be a shop, but has to be at least a false store front - but that side of the street is so large, I would think some shop is going in there (anyone?).

Gringott's is ANOTHER 3-D ride?! While I'm okay with this expansion(not drooling over it), I am getting tired of all these 3-D attractions. While cool, enough is enough. Is Universal capable of building rides without using screens??? They haven't done so since Rockit. Both Gringott's and HE is going to utilize screens, no? I hope IOA's next project can stray away from Universal's projection screen craze.

Does anyone build rides without projection screens? WDW's last might have been Rock'n'Rollercoaster in 1999. Even Expedition Everest and the new Little Mermaid dark ride uses screens for key effects, thought they aren't the primary focus of the rides. Attractions bascially used to be either coasters, dark rides, walk-throughs, or shows/movies (oh, and spinners - I hate those). The best attractions nowadays seem to combine two or more of these concepts to add excitement, interest, depth, and atmosphere.

While I completely agree with this statement, Universal creative wouldn't be able to create the same experience they are trying to create with Gringotts withought screens, same as Forbiden Journey. Otherwise we'd just have another Mummy coaster. In a way its unfortunate but projection is the way of theme park future.

I love big sets. Im really tired of simulators and 3D screens. Forbidden Journey utilized screens in a really good way without it being the whole ride. Im worried about Gringotts. But I wont make my judgement until I step out of the ride vehicle for the first time

I have already told you all that there will be sets; about the elaborate models that were recently set up in the company that shall not be named. One guess and you would be correct.

Man, you can't make people happy. People want new innovative ways to create rides, using the latest technology and we have a ride being built using a ton of tech and new ideas, yet people still complain. Screens are part of the new tech age, more can be done with screens (i.e. HE) that wasn't able to be done in the past. Until you ride the ride, don't knock the use of screens.

They should have snow machines on the rooftops of the buildings. Imagine sitting in the Leaky Cauldron and seeing Diagonal Alley and its snowing, that would be pretty awesome!

People want new innovative ways to create rides, using the latest technology and we have a ride being built using a ton of tech and new ideas, yet people still complain. Screens are part of the new tech age, more can be done with screens (i.e. HE) that wasn't able to be done in the past. Until you ride the ride, don't knock the use of screens.

Hey not complaining. For me its just more difficult to get fully immersed with so many screens BUT i will say I know the ride will be amazing regardless. They haven't let me down yet. The over use of screens is just becoming monotonous

Remember how innovative Spider-Man was for digital screens and multimedia? Expect the same jump forward with Gringotts. It won't matter if your into HP or not, or whether you like 3D or not. This is a ride that is going to separate itself from the pack. A ride which will be the flagship attraction for many years to come. For those who were too young to truly appreciate the overwhelming experience of Spider-Man this is your shot to get that feeling. A ride that can not only set the new standard but redefine what we think is possible only comes around once a decade or sometimes even longer. In 2014 many will get that "feeling" on the northern edge of Diagon Alley.

i want to belive! But I heard a lot of the same hype talk for FJ, which is fine, because I liked that ride a whole bunch, but it didnt WOW me like I was expecting.

The cutbacks on the physical sets were what dropped the FJ down a notch. Gringotts on the other hand has sets up to 5 stories tall.
