HTF, that whole area being covered seems bizarre to me. I know most of it is the bridge to nowhere but what makes up the other coverings? Awnings? Is the whole area one big covering like at owl post in hogsmeade?

Well at least we know one person is still interested in this stuff. Thanks Felipe

It is indeed interesting, we can really start putting things together now. Two things are baffling me though,

1. That bridge to no where and covered area, with the street quite narrow and the buildings fairly high rise wouldn't that give a decent about of shade? I'm still not fully understanding why the need for such a large structure within the area.

2. The use of Kuka within Gringotts, this has Me really intrigued. I'm imagining it on a track with some kind of themed element that will run alongside the RV within the ride, maybe on a short loop track so it will only track the RV for one, maybe two scenes. Other than that I'm struggling to imagine another use for it within the attraction.

Can we modify the term "train bridge" to "train trestle" as trestle is the true and correct word for "train bridge".

Yes, yes we can Teebs as for your question earlier it will maintain cover for Ollivanders extended queue, a Butter Beer cart, as well as a street show. Their will also be a control booth within the trestle. Hope that helps...

Thanks, it helps much! Now I look forward to what Grimmauld will contain, if anything. It appears a virtual maze back there.

I also have to keep reminding myself that Knockturn and the entrance to Borgin will be indoors. This continues to be such a mind bender for me as I had not seen it coming even though a few suggested the possibility early on.

While it is fun knowing stuff, I must admit it is equally fun (and less stressful) not knowing and waiting for the next reveal.

teebs can you point me to where "train bridge" is used I don't remember where there is any "train bridge" "train trestle" in a description? if it's the Hogwarts express you are referring to it is called a "EL" -'elevated rapid transit railroad.'

I was talking about the common and accepted terms for any span that allows a locomotive to cross over an obstacle such as a river, gorge or roadway. We are all talking about the canopy that passes over Diagon Alley. Thanks to HTF, we now know that it will be themed as a train trestle. HTF did not specify which train(s) the trestle may be suggested to support.

EDIT: Stupid and uninformed statement by moi remove-ed.

I have a feeling that HTF used the term bridge because of a designers uninformed use of it on an engineering document.

I am okay with bridge. Trestle is a type of bridge, that has trestle supports. It is commonly used for trains, but not exclusively. For example a train could go over a truss or arch bridge. What I have seen of the bridge it does not look like it has trestle supports.

Silly me and how right you are. It must be a Maine colloquialism to call all train spans a trestle. I guess one can call it a bridge after all. I am going to do something drastic and ban myself from the site for the next 10 minutes! :yikes:

Not in MA/NH.

As natespf stated: Trestle is actually a style of bridge. I'll give you this one as I knew what you meant.

*cyberbitchslap* get a hold of yourself!

I know the video clip from the movie showed a train going by when Harry looked out the window of his room in the Leaky Cauldron, but I'm not convinced this is supposed to be that. The concept art shows a themed canopy. The fact that this will be a TM bridge, in addition to being a pretty structure for shade, I think will only be evident to those backstage. But those are just my thoughts

Gosh, it is so good to be back peoples! Although my punishment was harsh, I feel I have paid my dues for my involvement in trestlegate. I hope that you all can welcome me back, although, I know a few of you, such as bobwadd would have me banned forever for my flagrant disregard of facts and words. I humbly thank you all for having me back and hope that during this probation period, I will display better judgement.

Hmm... I'm not sure you've fully realized the repercussions of your actions, sir. Five more minutes of kneeling on corn!

;)
