Good... glad that you do not know precisely. Let us hope these are cutoffs and preshow rooms. It will be such a pump to people to be held for a short time... much like a student gets held in a class or before the principal. This would be brilliant.

Now, that's an idea. I am going to ask my friend. What if there are no doors (I know this to be fact), but there are prefects controlling the flow of the line. This could work, too.

I will get back to the forum on this one. This might make sense.

Speaking of that... Screamscape http://screamscape.com/html/islands_of_adventure.htm has an article about how they are going to be revealing "spoilers" about FJ over the next few weeks. The first thing they mention though, is that is you don't fit on Hulk or DD, then it doesn't look good for FJ. That sucks.

I would agree, but the reason they can't appear and disappear is because there were specific elements to how the "show" worked. According to what we read

A door opens in the DADA room. There is nothing behind it. Suddenly, the cloak is thrown off, and it's our heroes. They argue about whether we should listen to a lecture or go to the Quidditch match. In the middle of the argument, Ron makes it snow in the DADA room. They decide we should go to Quidditch, tell us to meet them in the RoR, then disappear under the cloak and the door shuts.

That just seems like a pretty specific order of events that would look odd if you saw repeated.

I have thought about this. This could still work. The effects - like the snow - isn't necessarily triggered each time. Perhaps it's only one of the times before the loop repeats itself. Each time has it's own special effect.

What if you're in the room and they are already there. So, you walk in on the conversation. Their exit is scripted and they disappear. A few moments later, they return and their first words are, "What's taking you so long...". This could work for both people first coming into the room and those who have been in the room. The scene could be different 3 or 4 times before it loops, but the content of the scene is basically, skip the lecture and head to the Room of Requirement.

I get that this is new thinking, but it could work.

Having to stop for 20 minutes of pre shows every time you ride would be terrible. You want to see them the FIRST time you ride. Having three mandatory pre shows kills it for people who want to ride repeatedly.

And perhaps this is one of the reasons why they designed it this way. Perhaps this is how they have their best shot at keeping the line respectful: once you're inside, you're moving, or not, but because you want to.

Anglefan, the whole queue is more than just a simple queue. It's like the first part of the ride, except you're just walking through it.

No offense Scott, but I think you're a little off base here. While everyone will I assume be pretty much wowwed when they go through the first time, that won't last forever. Also, people who are not HP uber-fans are not going to be as enthralled as the people who post here. And most important, there are going to be a lot of kids. A whole lot of 8-9-10 year old kids. This is fun. The line will be fun. They will be laughing giggling and pointing and discussing. As they should be, and I know I will. I don't think shushing would be the right thing to do. If someone doesn't like, understand or enjoy being around rambunctious kids this probably isn't going to be all that enjoyable.

I plan on taking my 7 year old nephew. He has muscular dystrophy, but he can still walk now. I guarantee he will be squealing in delight the whole time. I bet I do too.

They are wrong! Universal is very concerned about this issue and wants to do everything in their power to accommodate everyone. My source says, it won't be ready on opening, but as I type this, they are working on a "big boy" seat. Larger people will be able to ride! By Christmas.

So, how do we accommodate those rambunctious kids AND still create a space where those who want to hear the dialogue can? I don't want to ruin anyone's experience, including my own.

Quick question... do 7 year olds who go to the cinema make noise during the movie? I guess to some degree, but they also have a sense that it's a time to pay attention. Is it possible that rambunctious kids will sense that this is a space where it's important to listen and take in the performances?

A disney preshow is about 3-5 minutes.

I'm not worried about noise during the preshows. Most of the preshows in Universal/Islands of Adventure are able to be heard, even over talking. In Disaster and Men in Black, the large preshows are very audible at all times. I would expect Universal to have the sound system planned out for it to be audible for all to hear.

Also, for those of you discussing the length and elaboration of the queue, remember that Universal has said that the whole experience, ride and queue, will be an hour long. There will be plenty of stuff going on during the queue and I'm sure there will be several preshows and a good amount of mini-preshows.

This is not the same as sitting in a movie theater. I have taken groups of little boys to Disney and Universal for 13 years straight now. It's the most fun thing there is in the world. This is an interactive experience. It's not church. Let kids have fun. Have fun with them.

There has to be some kind of controlled crowd flow where there is a cool queue and at a certain point...a group of people go on to the real experience...or the experience will be hour"s".

If they don't have the "big boy" seats installed right now and won't have them for another 8 months, then Screamscape is actually right. You probably won't be able to ride for awhile.

ScottInNY. While I dislike people talking loudly in a theme park preshow. To post your wishes here in length is like preaching to the choir. We are theme park or HP geeks and will go silent. 90% of Orlando theme park attendees are not, and they are visitors from all over the world and different cultures. If your request could be heard by them then you might have something... but you're not talking to that 90%. I understand your frustration however... yet it is what it will always be. Let's hope that Dumbledore puts his wand to his neck and yells, "SILENCE!!!!" That is all anyone can hope for in a theme park queue.

Too bad it won't be this way for my 3 days there because the Forbidden Journey will be less than a week old lol. Hopefully I could convince my family to go against express passes for this ride and wait the couple hours. It better be worth it.

I agree, but have you taken them into any of the show adventures. Don't they quiet down when they're seating in the auditorium and the show begins?

Perhaps, the energy of the walk through will be one where people will be in awe. Of course, they will comment to their friends, but how about if there is sort of an understanding that is similar to what we experience in a theater. I am not trying to be the line nazi. I am just saying that if the walk through is a huge part of the ride, maybe it will inspire a new way of experiencing queues. Maybe that's what Universal has in mind? Who know?
