 Seriously, it does look like Tron: Legacy's production design. I'm not complaining, just wondering how this still equates to a "Test Track" if it's all contemporary/modern black and neon around you?

Because you're testing a car design you made in a computer, and now they can 'put you in the computer' or something like that. Some complicated story lol.

This video should explain it more.

So I've been looking at the concept art and here is my guesses of where things are located.

2TT123234LARGE.jpg

This location seems to be where your turn from the ABS segment and take a right into the environmental chambers. The ABS video screens are now where the logos are located in this photo.

ttconcept.jpg

I added number to this concept art to better show where things are.

1.) Top of hill climb (old future city in WoM)
2.) Heat environmental chamber, now turned into a features testing area.
3.) Going from the corrosion test chamber to the handling part of the attraction. The lightning strike is probably where track course B is.
4.) The crash test room where you pause before acceleration out of the building. Dark circle in the back is probably the door to outside.

On other websites, people are making me  by saying that they should make the post show area Flynn's Arcade!

EDIT: Here's another great interview

From a poster on WDWMagic:

TDO had nothing to do with this refit aside from booking the travel for WDI to meet with Design in Warren and the Suits in Detroit. This refit is 100% GM pushed. If it were left to TDO you likely would not have seen a refit until the next major refit of Epcot which could be anybody's guess if or when that would even happen.

It will be more than screens and projectors, it will be lighting, set and show pieces, new music and some really incredible tech that has been developed by GM specifically for this attraction. This one is being done right, and should set the benchmark for how these things should be done going forward.

Sad, isn't it?

I hope this is a sign to people above TDO about the sorry state of that division. Please god... please.

Well then I hope half of MK, DHS and Epcot get some real generous sponsors.

^ Disney just isn't 'state of the art' enough for major companies to be lured to them. I don't have a clue what Siemens was thinking with Epcot sponsorship. Disney themeparks were computers a long long time ago before personal putes came along. In example, why would a company like Apple, Microsoft, Nike, Walmart ever consider sponsoring a Disney attraction? It would completely destroy the brand they have or at least have no impact. Short of candy, I cannot think of one company that would benefit from a sponsorship with Disney.

I think the GM contract is nothing more than preventing the perception of a fading company just when they are attempting to resurrect.

Of course, I could be wrong on all counts.

Sorry if this was pointed out and I missed the post, but it looks like this will be a 3-d attraction based on the glasses in the concept artwork.

Personally, I would have preferred them to go "all-in" with the Tron themeing and just make it a Tron ride. Have it sponsored by Chevy and the ride vehicles be chevy light runners or some such. This artwork gives a tantalizing taste of what a tron ride could be like though smashing those hopes with the realization we'll probably never get one stateside.

A tron ride would be preferable...but as long as the ride is exciting I don't think it matters.

I really don't get the obsession with people needing this to have the name TRON plastered on it. The thing is literally going to be a TRON attraction in everything but name only, which is preferable for an Epcot setting.

Pretty much I mean the ride takes place in a computer simulation and short of characters from the movie it is pretty similar...I think Daft Punk should do the soundtrack..

Hopefully that sign is the first of many things to be removed from the facade.

Removing the scaffolding would really streamline the look.

They are taking it down and replacing it with something less obtrusive and more streamlined (per the concept art)

^ Good, it will fit in with the much nicer looking Mission Space. Two pavilions down only 2 more to go on the west side.
