There is no chance that this will open in 2014. Just look at construction in Hollywood. It didn't take 2 years and they were not rushing construction.

Hollywood Construction started on April 22nd 2010 and the ride opened April 19th 2012. Exactly 2 years.

Where we are at today, Hollywood was at in late Nov 2010.

If they go the same pace the rest of the way that gives us 17 months to go.

That would be Jan of 2014. Like I said before if they go a little faster it would be Nov-Dec 2013. Oct would be a stretch also.

To think they could get it done by June/July of 13 is nuts. Unless they give us a bootleg version.

AND IF THEY DO PULL IT OFF I WILL BE THERE OPENING DAY!! TO SHAKE ALL OF YOUR HANDS!! LOL!!

Hollywood took 8 months to do what happened in 1 (not counting demolition) on Orlando.

That leaves them more than enough time to have this done by this time next year.

If they're so far ahead of Hollywood already, what makes you think they're going to slow down now? They're building this because they're trying to save tax money. They're going to stay full steam ahead.

Yea, exactly. They aren't going at the same pace as Hollywood. Much, much faster.

I'm still willing to stick by what I picked up on when the permits were found; 13 months from the time the permits started popping up in June and Transformers will be open in Orlando. You can dismiss it if you want, but that's from someone at least close to Creative, if not inside Creative.

My source, again, is iron clad. They are pushing for an early summer opening. The 13 months sounds about right.

I don't know if it means anything but I was in the store in the Hollywood section of Universal when you exit T2 and they were selling Transformers merchandise in there.

^I think that store is the one that sells a bunch of generic blockbuster movie merch. I even see a bunch of DC comics stuff in there all the time.

Interesting...

The retail manager in me says that they're just taking advantage of a cross-merchandising opportunity with Terminator. Something tells me that they may also be testing it to see how well it sells there.

So it very well could have something to do with it coming to USF.

It also may not have anything to do with it.

They sell anything and everything movie related in there. I've seen Star Wars merch in there, and there's no chance of that property coming to Universal. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Of course, if they were to do something like test merch of a possible franchise to see if it sells compared to other properties, it might be a good location to test it because of that. Let the conspiracy theories start! :-X

Well they don't have anything going on with DC comics, yet it makes sense to make money off of a popular property like DC comics. Or maybe when Universal and Warner Brothers made the deal for Potter, maybe they talked about other retail ideas with the Harry Potter merch. After all WB makes all the DC Comics movies, and they makes millions and billions of dollars.

Transformers merchandise, on the other hand, is probably a sign of things to come in the future. If Transformers is popular in a "local" California park, then it will be a smash hit in a premier Florida park.

Yea they were selling a bunch of Batman stuff too. Which suprised me considering the relationship with Marvel. However the packaging on the Transformers toys did say Universal Studios Hollywood.

But for the record, there's no doubt in my mind the Transformers ride is coming...
