I'm not a parent but I think you guys are over estimating how "scary" the line can be. This is not halloween horror nights. I'm sure the natives wont be trying to scare kids. Either way, if I was a parent I would just reasure them its not real and might even laugh if they get scared. The overly sensitive parents are gonna ruin it for everyone else.

I think you are underestimating how scared people get in dark and enclosed places with people popping out. My 22 yo male friend is absolutely terrified riding Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom because its dark and things pop out at him. And not everyone does creepy. I have seen ten years old cry on Jurassic River adventure. Heck I even know people who found potter and the forbidden journey horrifying screaming bloody murder and get me off of this things because of the spider scene. You can say its fake all you want but it doesn't stop fear.

Don't underestimate fear.

When I was 5 I only rode rides I could see from outside the line (WoM, Small World, etc). I was scared forever of HM and others. 20k giant squid scared me. Kids will get scared of things while others will take it in stride.

I have many small kids in my family. It's called empathy. I can understand without having gone through it. Obviously, once I am a parent attitude can/will change.

"Omg, a witch doctor. So scary". There's gonna be at least hundred other people in that room, its not like you're in there by yourself. I think it will be more creepy then HHN type of terrifying.

Everything is not for everyone. And that's okay. So many people believe everything has to be for everyone and that equates to boring. Everyone is different and that means people like different things.

Many of the park guests will act more savage than those natives so I don't think there will be an issue. lmao

Here's a little more review now that I've had a day to process the attraction. First and foremost it's a world class attraction. If this ride were at any other park outside of Universal or Disney it would be the top attraction by far. That being said here are (in my opinion) the best and worst parts of this attraction.

Best Parts:
-Kong AA and the finale he creates is the star of this attraction and they give you plenty of time to take him in.
-The witch in the queue line and the whole sequence of effects that happen in her room is super awesome. Her movements are more realistic than the main Goblin in Gringotts and she will be the gate keeper for scared children. They will not make it past her.
-The Bat AA's are a great touch especially the third one.
-The quality of the projections are unmatched here in Orlando.
-The 360 experience reminds me of the finale sequence in Spiderman and is action packed with a surprising sense of speed and tons of movement in the vehicle.

Worst Parts:
-Queue is completely disjointed from the ride in story and tone.
-The pacing of the ride is similar to Gringotts in that you move into a room and then stop and watch, then you move into the next room and stop and watch.
-The transition from the 360 portion into the Kong AA room is absolutely horrible and the weakest part of the attraction
-Far left side of the car has a terrible vantage point in the second screen room.
-The dialogue is sometimes hard to hear.

Honorable mentions:
-The driver AA's do move. They look right at the waiting crowd as they pull into the station.
-The slightly different stories with each driver is a nice touch for re-rideablitiy
-Slug AA is pretty cool.
-There are several boo holes for the Natives to pop out at you and it's designed for them to move back and forth so you won't know where exactly you might encounter them.

The drivers are AAs? This whole time I thought there were going to be real people ala Jaws.

At least it sounds like the 60-90 second 360 screen is packed with fun motion. My main issue with Gringotts is that outside of the very short freefall, all of the screen scenes are very passive compared to Universal's other dark rides that use them. While the first two screens in Kong sound similar, I could see the 360 scene making up for it just because of how long it is.

Thanks for the impressions.

When the bats fly through your car in the first screen scene you will duck.

If any of you feel motion on the first screen, then there is an earthquake.

Ugh :cautious:. Maybe since this is not a coaster-esk ride it will work better. I can not stand that about Gringotts.

Something I'm curious about (sorry if has been touched on) how is the atmosphere inside? I know you pointed out the 1 transition. Is it bland transitions with screens or is there actually stuff to look at (jungle, caves and rocks...etc)?

You mentioned bat AAs. Is it a mix of AA and 3D effects when they fly through the car?

For the most part the rock work and set design carry through in the first couple scenes but not in the 360 screen because you don't just stay in one location. Therefore any set design would take away from the illusion that your car is speeding away to avoid danger.

Given that it is Florida, I predict soil liquefaction.

I'm trying my hardest to not really give away all the cool things that happen in the attraction but just touching on the highlights. The bats are very effective.

From what it seems, there is another TM Preview going on, so any softs may as well be dashed at this point..

Or perhaps they are massaging their way into it. On the other hand, if they really introduced a new vehicle into the mix just today, then it could be a horror show. Sand bags the day after TM previews. I am just: :blank:

How long do soft openings usually last? Just a day? I'll be down Sunday through next Saturday, hoping I'll get a chance to give it a go.
