Finally got to do Kong this morning. Nice ride for sure. Queue not quite that intense, but very atmospheric, really loved the witch room! As for the ride, outdoor was bypassed, not sure why. Nothing on the canopy unfortunately. First ride there was a 'hiccup' just before the 360° so we immediately got to ride again. It was a huge difference, since the first time none of the fan and water effects worked, second time they did, wow, what a difference. Biggest negative point though is how the upper end of the screen is visible, they could have really done better there. All by all though, yes it is mainly 4D, but it is done right.

Friday 3:00 PM Posted Line times

* Forbidden Journey: 45 minutes
*Reign of Kong: 90 minutes
*Spider Man: 45 minutes

One interesting tidbit: Since I've been checking the posted times recently, Kong's lines are almost always longer than Frozen's lines. And supposedly Kong has higher capacity.

Cant have a long line if you're broken down......:bonk:

Question for those that have been. Has the fog been running constantly our front of the attraction?

Yes, but this all boils down to a left right decision. Does they go right to FJ or left to Kong and Hulk. I think those that have been deciding to go right will keep doing so. If that is true then Hulk will likely pull from Kong. SM would be the third choice so I figure lines will go down there. Just my guess. We will see soon enough.

I am amazed that the lines are not longer with fully booked hotels, and you just know some Disney people are traveling over to try out the new ride with Disney being slow to open new things/frozen notwithstanding

well, that may be more of an indication of the crowd levels at Disney? or a statement about the staying power of Frozen? Are the lines because the IP is still popular, or just a symptom of a Disneyworld short of anything new to see?

It could be that the guests at the hotels are spending more time at the hotels. On site guests tend to stay longer so there is less pressure to spend every minute in the parks. They can also easily head back to their rooms at peak crowd/heat. And they have really nice refreshing pools. :)

So, does anyone know what the problem is with the outside portion? This morning it did not work and not because it was raining, so I am thinking it must be one of two things, either the road gives trouble when wet (yesterday night there was rain I think), or, there are issues with the wireless navigation etc. on the outside part.

Last I saw they still have tape holding the guide marks in place. They will have to do something about that before this will be ready for prime time.

Cripes, they were using duct/gaffers style tape 4 months ago!!! Al Roker probably walked off with one of the RFID tags stuck to his foot!

They should have used Gorilla tape instead. :doh:It's stronger, holds up better, and is "endorsed" by Kong.

Yeah, either it works or it does not. If it does drill holes and epoxy in some mounts for the guides or if it doesn't rip them off like a bandage over a wound. - Fast!

I don't understand it, and apparently neither do the engineers. Very disconcerting.

All they need is a return so the vehicle knows where it is on the course. Yeah RFID works but so does a couple of other technologies. Not sure why they are struggling with this

They need to hang a banana on a pole in front of the vehicle. That will work for sure. Sometimes no tech is better than high tech.

Yeah, it was clear at one point that the issue was wireless and it was just as bad inside the building. They had a real problem getting the vehicle to move after scene 6 (360). It went on and on and on ad nauseum. (and they weren't even running the motion platforms or film at that time.)

So with Forbidden Journey finally getting a break, maybe after Hulk opens they'll take it down for some much needed rehab?
