Yes, it's the conspiracy of all the Potter fans not that it's a bad argument.

Love the avatar photo by the way.

The theme park wars are now largely IP based. Flight of the Unicorn often sat empty. Rethemed with Harry Potter IP it is now very popular.

Of course being surrounded by Hogwarts and Hogsmeade doesn't hurt either.:)

I hope the park does not become Harry Potter Studios Florida, I just think we do not need too much Harry Potter

I agree completely- they should have put in a Zelda or HTTYD coaster instead.

You know- in the location smack dab in the middle of Hogsmeade.

Potter has become UOR's Mickey Mouse. He's the "icon" of the park. I'm not saying there is a conspiracy, just that they are heavily invested in being the Harry Potter park and other movie/entertainment IPs too.

Once Nintendoworld opens that may change, but adding the Ministry of Magic to USF is on brink of over exposure.

Of course, that's just my opinion, and probably not a popular one around here, which was my point in the first place.

If Disney decided to build another Avatar ride in Hollywood Studios, what would the reaction be?

At the moment there are only 4 Potter attractions, exactly the same as Marvel attractions and that is divided between two parks, so I don't think it is overkill; I don't think the new coaster and the Ministry of Magic will make it overkill either, though I do hope that is it then. Personally, I don't care much about Potter, read some of the books and saw the movies, it's ok, but nothing that special nor original. It makes for a nice theme park experience, and most importantly, the rides are good, that's really all that matters to me.

Toy Story also has 4 rides when all is done: The Wii game, Slinky coaster, spinner and the Buzz shooter.
Star Wars will only get 3 rides (incl the current simulator if it gets imported in Edge). We all know that won't be enough and the park will suck because of it.

I understood his post to be referring to the discussion about the Great Hall and it possibly taking up some space currently occupied by Jurassic Park. But I could be wrong...

Congratulations to Theme Park University for being the first to publish an article using my track layout image! It looks like a pretty good, thorough article actually. Reading it now. And thanks for giving my website proper credit, much appreciated!

This is an increase in Harry Potter attraction quality rather than quantity. This coaster is is only one track vs. the two it is replacing. It has slow and reverse elements that will increase ride time. In terms of guest capacity this is actually stepping back in terms of Harry Potter instead of increasing capacity.

Putting the Wizarding World in both parks and having an attraction to connect the two is one of the most brilliant moves in theme park history. When hogsmeade was built I remember talking to people left and right about what was in the other park. Many of them told me they were only going to Islands of Adventure and just for one day. Harry put Universal on the theme park map for many. Now Universal is expanding the map.

The moving platform at load/unload?!

In other news, I hope the one thing they got wrong in this article is the motorbike ride vehicle. Having to deal with two different seating arrangements seems like a nightmare and it puts pressure on the guests to worry about which seat they would prefer to be in. Not a fan.

After seeing how the last 10 years have gone for the resort, I don't think anyone really believes that building Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley was a mistake. It is clear that that was a good decision. I think what people are questioning is how much of a need there really is for the ministry and possible great hall given that the parks already have 20 acres of harry potter including 5 good rides.

Personally, I would include the possibility of Fantastic Beasts in a south park as overkill as well.

Forgot about that. I thought you were talking about the part where they teased an element by saying you'll "fall for it everytime" meaning droptrack

Nah we talked about that already. The moving platform was something I don't think we had discussed here yet. But it is something I've heard is true.

It's also part of the reason I don't believe we will have motorbike seating - or at least not a type of seating where there are two types of seats (sidecar and bike,) because Team Members will only have a short window of time to get everyone in and get the lap bars down.

I don't think it would take any longer to check the restraints on a bike/side car combo but I'm firmly in the camp that it won't be that.

I don't think we'll know for sure for a good while anyway. We're still about 15 months out from opening and Universal don't need to make an announcement yet.

Having two separate height requirements sounds like a logistics nightmare. I hope that’s not the case.
