Definitely not.

There's discussion here about that very fact and it's rude to relegate some posters here to Facebook nutcases

Freddy's is perfect for HHN, it's literally loud jumpscares and flashing lights...their bread and butter

If anything I see them running the risk of underdelivering

Eh, FNaF is more about atmosphere and creepy atmospheric sound design in a might-as-well-be-abandoned pizzeria. Jumpscares are a failure state, game over, for failing. That being said, I still agree with you. The environment, sound design, lighting and jumpscares are perfect for a house.

However, how they execute it, that would be the question. They made KKFOS work well as a zone and a house. If those big costumes can work that well in a house, maybe it's possible. But I still fear they'd underdeliver. Especially in regards to the animatronics.

I can see a dark hallway being a perfect way to emulate the Funtime Auditorium section from FNAF: Sister Location. They could just do it with regular Foxy for the house.

That Schittie's Kidz scene from Slaughter Sinema is the kind of aesthetic I was expecting

Some dark hallways like Dead Exposure 1.0 would also be great

Basically could they still do the house based off the game or would it just have to be the movie? Cuz getting the rights to do a house based off the game, I don’t think would be super hard.

Being someone who does want to see a FNAF house, I see Uni/HHN waiting until they know when the movie is coming out before doing a house. There's multiple key factors to that.

- Blumhouse is doing the film. By all accounts Uni/HHN has a good relationship with BH. That can make it a whole lot easier to obtain rights than trying to obtain the rights to the original games on their own. And if Uni also ends up being the distributor of the movie? The already good chances of it becoming a house skyrocket.

- Over the years, Uni/HHN has made it pretty clear they like going after properties that'll draw a big audience and broader ones as well. If you make a house just based on the games, your audience is only the ones who know about the games. But if you make a house based off the movie, your audience are ones who know the games *and* the movie. Theoretically, that's a bigger audience.

When you take in those factors, and the fact that Uni will most likely know when the film is planned to come out within the year...there's no point in HHN doing an house based on the games when they could very well be making one based off the movie in the next year or two.

And finally, considering how fitting FNAF is for HHN...if they were going to do a house based off the games, I think you'll agree they've already would've done one by now. Considering they haven't, it's pretty clear they're waiting for the movie.

I was thinking dark hallways as in The Haunting of Hill House, but Dead Exposure would actually make more sense given the flashlight mechanic during that section of the game so I 100% agree that would be better.

Yeah, Shittie's Kidz but far more rundown and filled with cobwebs and monitors and other abandoned broken stuff. Not to mention crap tons of grime. The first game's asthetic is pretty grimy.

Also I freaking loved Slaughter Sinema. Shittie's Kids was one of my favorite sections cause I couldn't help but think how they could turn it into FNAF.

Dammit, Shriekra, I think you and I are on the same page. :toast:

What are some "white whale" IPs that you guys think actually have a possibility of coming at some point? At this point, it almost seems like Scream will NEVER happen - and The Thing seems like it should have been one that already happened as well.

It’a hard to say without knowing the precise preferences and thought processes of the HHN creators. In general, when thinking of the nostalgia properties, I think you could include any horror or horror-adjacent property from the late 70s to, say, the mid-2000s with some mainstream appeal (it doesn’t have to be universally well known - witness Killer Klowns) that offers some aesthetic or thematic element HHN hasn’t run into the ground (this excludes a lot of zombie properties like Dawn of the Dead, for instance, despite their continued popularity). Given HHN’s party atmosphere, I also think it helps if the property is “fun” in some way. Properties that I’d personally place in this group include Gremlins, Lost Boys, Near Dark, Creepshow, Army of Darkness, The Blob, Hellboy, The Fly (or even a general Cronenberg house), Suspiria 77 (or Argento in general), Return of the Living Dead (possibly distinct enough from generic zombie properties), The Addams Family, Sleepy Hollow, The Frighteners (hey, it’s in the makeup show), Pan’s Labyrinth, etc. They’re very likely ungettable, but I also think everything Stephen King falls in this category. That’s all just my arbitrary opinion, of course, and many are completely out of reach (although I tried not to list any Fox or Disney IPs) - but such is the nature of white whales.

It also occurs to me that it’s odd we’ve never gotten an original with aesthetics inspired by Cabinet of Dr Caligari. I’d love to see Uni get more visually experimental.

Speculation wise everyone expects something like Phantom of the opera,

But I really wish we got a full black and white house, not black lights or glow in the dark, but everything made and decorated in shades of grey including the costumes and actors' make up ,

The perfect property to do this would be the original Night of the Living Dead.
And we already had black and white zombies in the HHN 25 scarezone "All Nite In : Double Feature" we literally had some "night of the living dead" zombies in that zone.
That entire zone had one cast of old school monsters dressed in black and white,
I'm shocked and surprised that universal has not done a full house in black and white. After that zone I always expected and hoped for a whole house in that style. ( I think the entrance and ending of Dead Exposure was like this? In 2008)

Night of the living dead would be easy to transfer, iconic, everyone knows the movie,

but if they can't get that property then I really wish invisible man or phantom of the opera were done in a full black and white house. It would change things up a bit and it would look so awesome. It would be so unique. And like I said, the 2015 scarezone already tried it.

I'll be honest, maybe it's just my love of 17, but I'd love another slasher event. I love the slashers every time they show up. I have loved every slasher house to date. They always end up being some of my favorites. I would love another slasher house along with Chucky next year. Probably wishful thinking I'm sure.

Seriously though they missed an opportunity this year to do Halloween III considering they had Sweet Revenge literally right there as well. Oh, well, I know they chose the original do to popularity. I still loved the Halloween house we got though, especially since I didn't get to experience the 24 house in person (though from footage I've seen, it looked incredible).

If next year is a Slasher theme as an overall theme, then Eddie should be an icon that he deserves along with the original RUN of what it was supposed be before it was drastically changed at last minute. Lights, Camera, Hacktion did won Scarezone of the Year at 30.

Was just thinking this! Eddie needs to be an icon and get his due if they do a slasher year. Completely agree.

Some of my early IP predictions for 32.

The Exorcist: What’s the best way to celebrate the classic 1973’s 50th anniversary? By bringing it back to the event that is the same as 26 with some improvements and an extra scene or two as a preview to the upcoming reboot.

Slipknot: I hope The Weeknd is the catalyst of the music based houses for HHN. With The End, So Far album now out, It perfectly makes sense for Slipknot to go next, going by the original lineup that fans are familiar with the most and also as a tribute to their deceased members. Though, not as big as The Weeknd and Alice Cooper, but the beloved masked metallers from Iowa sold over 35 million copies worldwide, had three number one albums on the Billboard 200, and even won a Grammy. They’re big enough to draw a lot of crowds.

The only problem is they’re no longer on Roadrunner Records (owned by Warner Music Group). If not, then it’s gonna be Dawn FM

Universal Monsters: I’m leaning towards on the Phantom of the Opera cause it’ll turn a hundred in the next few years. Though It’s in the public domain, it’s still technically a Universal property that is a big part of the brand historically. It’s also the Usher’s favorite movie, so you could tie into him with that.

My Biggest Wildcard

Nightmare On Elm Street: It seems like the Slasher icons are being represented one at a time in recent years. Last year was Leatherface, this year was Micheal Myers, and Freddy Krueger is probably next in line for 32.

Haha, was mainly kidding.

As far as actual spec, I’m seeing some Slipknot guesses. While I wouldn’t rule out another music house (I’m sure it moved merch and the synergy the park-wide queue music videos provided was actually a highlight for this year), I’d definitely expect them to lean more into pop. The Weeknd has a tenuous relationship with horror as is, one that I feel Universal probably used as a justification just to get a high-profile artist in the door. Now that the proof of concept worked, I think the horror-adjacency becomes less important than checking off the boxes that:
1. It’s recognizable by the widest possible audience
2. Has merch potential
3. Is mainstream enough to incorporate a big chunk of the discography in the parks’ background music loops

TL;DR: I wouldn’t be surprised to see another music artist…I’d be surprised if it was something like Slipknot.

I get they’re not on the same popularity level as the Weeknd or Billie, but they’re similarly big and commercially successful as Alice. Not even Rob was able to achieve it on that type of scale. I think some may not think it’s possible cause they get little airplay on the radio yet they sold millions, streamed billions and played at arenas and festivals as headliners, which I digress.

slipknot is the most obvious choice ( or gaga) but theres always the chance that they say no or something. or that slipknot might want different things that universal might not agree with or something. Gaga might not like the idea,
(the easiest fastest rock house uni orlando could do is Ozzy osbourne or Slash since hollywood did them, so theres already a connection there. those artists already know how hhn works, )

but, realistically speaking, right now the band that fits hhn the most, a band that is very popular today, a band that is extremely related to horror and has horror outfits like slipknot, is Ghost.

i say realistically because Ghost did the end credits song to Halloween Kills (so you already have a connection to Blumhouse/ unniversal and HALLOWEEN that is fresh on people's minds, literally everyone that saw halloween kills heard their song )
and realistically because ghost is super popular and fresh right now, has won a bunch of Awards, they played on the Stephen Colbert show some years ago. and played on Jimmy Kimmel Live! etc.
they really rose to popularity over the years and are very hot right now (their last album received critical acclaim and praise from professional critics.)
And their music is soft enough and safe from non metal fans (more accessible and user friendly that slipknot. Ghost is pop rock, very soft rock) they are one of the biggest bands right now, they toured with Metallica,
you even see a lot of Ghost shirts during HHN this year and last year
Ghost has a sense of humor and dont take themselves as seriously (i could see the singer of Ghost having fun with a Ghost house, ) Ghost has been inspired by horror movies in their music videos and album covers(so theres a lot to use for a house) and their outfits look like halloween costumes already, they really fit all the boxes. it really fits hhn perfectly in every way. and the Halloween Nightmare Fuel show has used their song two years now.

(theres even a video for ghost - halloween kills on the Universal Pictures youtube page, the connection to universal is there already)

But will it bring NEW guests or guests who would have maybe skipped HHN32? I don't disagree that they could be a good addition, but probably as a scare zone. Even Rob Zombie at HHN29 was a movie he did vs The Weeknd or Billie. I think it would be super rad if Universal invited some of the more horror musical groups to do shows on Monday or Tuesday in a way to extend the HHN trip and Slipknot would be a great one.

I know many people misconstrued their lyrics and imagery like it happened to many other bands, but Ghost’s devil-worshipping themes would probably be controversial at the event like the Fallen at 27 but on larger scale. That’s the only problem of happening that I’m seeing.

Ghost is close, but they're an album or two away from being popular enough for HHN, and I say this as a fan. Even then its still a long shot - but I agree that their sound is soft enough, and they blew up on tiktok this year. After the Weeknd, Ghost's Impera was the best selling album of 2022 at release.

Side note but when people discuss music houses, it's important to remember in addition to popularity, to put on your "mainstream" goggles. Metallica is quite literally the biggest rock band in history, but were only in the zeitgeist this year because of
Stranger Things

Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Nine Inch Nails, etc - bands that are aesthetically and lyrically horror adjacent, are probably never getting a house without some sort of pop cultural supernova. Anyone heavier than the above that fits into horror is not getting a house because your average event goer doesn't listen to that kind of music.

If its a band that wouldn't be played at an average Halloween party because it's too metal - you rock and we should be friends - but it's probably not going to show up at HHN.

Keep in mind that an artist doesn't necessarily have to be the "star" of the house

They could compose a special soundtrack *for* the house with a different subject

They did this with a Monsters and Skrillex crossover...and even though it was awful...it was certainly interesting

Nine Inch Nails comes to mind as a candidate

I’m not a music fan. I knew Eilish, Weeknd, Ozzie, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Slash…

I have absolutely never heard of Ghost.

I think a pretty good rule of thumb is “can you imagine this musician or group playing at the Super Bowl or appearing as the non-musical guest on SNL?” If the answer is no, they’re probably not going to be at HHN.

Anyone heavier than the above that fits into horror is not getting a house because your average event goer doesn't listen to that kind of music.

If its a band that wouldn't be played at an average Halloween party because it's too metal - you rock and we should be friends - but it's probably not going to show up at HHN.

You make good points,
From personal experience, specially in hhn, I see many more shirts of ghost in the park than slipknot, ( specially younger people)
Someone earlier mentioned people wearing slasher shirts this year in the event,
and musically speaking, I don't think I ever saw a slipknot shirt this year or last year lol,( except me when I wear my old school- first album- slipknot sweater lol. )
But I also see a lot of girls with Ghost shirts too, and younger people, And yes, Ghost songs appear on tik tok as well, and I have heard their songs on Instagram shorts as well.
I was just thinking that ghost is kind of on people's radars recently, hip with the kids, made into memes and since they worked on Halloween kills then they kinda had that connection to universal already.
