I guess my thought is that the Daniel Craig films have featured incredible stunts with both performers and vehicles and the soundtrack is sick. I don't think the seriousness hurts it as a stunt show; but I also don't think the goofiness of WaterWorld is what has made it successful. so, might just be a mileage may vary situation.

The goofiness isn't what has made it successful, the great stunt choreo is obviously, but I do think having a bit more lighthearted of a stunt show is a good contrast to a bit more of a serious one.

If this hypothetical WaterWorld land at EU happens, how would they make a ride or attraction out of the IP? Or would it just be a plussed version of the WaterWorld show already at other Universal parks besides Orlando? I think that WaterWorld might just be a placeholder for an expansion land at EU and when a more popular IP comes along they will go with that instead.

In Bejing WaterWorld is listed as a land but it's just the show. As far as i'm aware, no one is actually saying this is even rumored. This is a spec thread. I've also already given an example of a more popular IP that could replace WaterWorld if you wanted to do a similar styled stunt-show but change the IP (F&F).

Assuming this were to happen, I imagine that they would opt to stick with WaterWorld. It's a tried and true critically acclaimed show at this point. The fact that it was included in the Beijing park, which is a market where the film is likely even more obscure than the rest of the world, is pretty telling.

Yeah, to me, WaterWorld is very similar to Splash Mountain in that, sure, it's based on an IP, but it's based off an IP that barely anyone has seen and the attraction is sort of just it's own original thing that's known for being high quality.

Good question to be asked: but is Thursday looking to be an Epic day? I could've sworn Joe had seemingly insinuated on this month being Epic, and my mind goes to glance at the upcoming Earnings Call.

I don't see them releasing anything much when we're still two years away from a grand opening. That's not Universal's style. I do think we'll continue getting crumbs of info accidentally through earnings calls and occasional politicians divulging info Universal shared with them privately just like has been happening.

I think next year about this time the blitz really starts since the majority of people tend to plan an Orlando vacation a year in advance.

I’d like to get the new logo released at least. They haven’t actually released that publicly yet, only in a Team Member video (that specifically said not to share any screenshots from said video).

Any chance they reiterate the fact that SNW is coming to Epic, on the heels of the Mario Bros movie success?

As I’ve said before people have to understand that promoting a whole new theme park that’s off site from the rest of the resort and promoting a single new attraction that everyone can already see being built at the park and take pictures of and post online themselves are totally different animals. Even if we don’t get anything significant this month this isn’t something Universal can just sit on for two years and then go “oh by the way” like they do with attractions.

If they announce anything soonish, I think it would be details about Villain-con.

Honestly though, I imagine most questions related to parks tomorrow, or anything NBCUniversal, will likely be clouded by concerns regarding the CEO’s sudden departure. Not saying it will affect anything (as the company already said it won’t) but that won’t stop investors from asking about it.

Oftentimes when companies know they’re going to have a bad report or have a dark cloud over it that they know could overshadow it in a negative way that they don’t want they’ll intentionally announce new projects or put out trailers and stuff like that to try and at the very least distract the GP and the trades a bit. Like when Disney announced the Indiana Jones D+ series right before Chapek’s final disaster call. So if they’re worried about something like that it might actually increase the chance of EU details a bit.

I don't expect details, but I do finally expect for them to put some numbers out there as to how significant their investment into UOR is over the next few years with Minions, Kidzone, Epic, and 3 new hotels.

Everyone forgets how badly the resort was burned after the Potter announcement. AP sales cratered. Big EU reveal now, with the Mouse just reopening AP sales, plenty of guests going to sit it out the next two years, impacting two HHNs, two Christmases, two Summers and a Mardi Gras.

I will say even your 1 year estimate may be off, I've always heard 3 to 4 months. Granted we're in new territory here--no one has opened a major dry park in the social media era--but if Summer 2025 is the target for full operations, I wouldn't be surprised to see the real push reserved for January 2025. Let the locals fill up the soft openings that Spring.

Yeah I’m not buying the “full reveal a few months ahead” takes when we already have an announcement with year attached to the park. They want to sell vacation packages and hotel rooms, they’ll sell what’s in this park over a year before opening.

“What about 2024? Potter!”

Yeah almost like they’re opening a new land, new entertainment, new seasonal event, and more to prevent that from happening.

I expect something similar to the Velocicoaster announcement timeline. Officially announced/marketed starting in October/November with a buildup to the May/June

Maybe a preview center in CityWalk or USF as well like what was done with IOA.

I know we always talk about Universal’s ‘way of doing things’ and reference WWoHP opening way back when but times have changed.

UOR is a far more attractive place to vacation now than it was then and they should know how to market that well and announce details about their new theme park.

I actually do have faith in them being able to continually attract people between announcement and EU opening but if they are genuinely thinking about holding off because of a precedent set 13 years ago then they need to take a look at their marketing/communications/PR dept because there must be issues. Just because that was the way it worked back then, shouldn’t mean that’s how it’ll work now.

Different from the updated logo we got a few weeks ago along with the other parks updated logos?
