The link just leads to the Discover Universal blog's homepage, so it seems like it got yoinked (or was just an inspect element edit).

I still can’t believe they are really going through with the Exorcist house. We haven’t received anything for that movie yet unless they tie it in with the original one or do a Blumhouse mash up.

Also, just the fact that they are doing another house for a movie that people won’t see until mid-October is kind of crazy. They must really have faith.

I have a feeling that we may just end up getting the original.

Which I mean, I'm not necessarily happy about either lol

Yeah, I'm leaning toward it being the original film. I, unfortunately, didn't have enough time to do The Exorcist back at 26, so I'm not really upset about it returning. I would've preferred a different property, but it is what it is lol.

The original would be much more appropriate as it's the 50th anniversary this year. There's another classic horror film turning 50 next year that I have a sneaking suspicion will pop up for HHN 33.

Feels like a lot of folks are talking themselves into believing the house will be based on the original film because they're struggling to imagine what the new film will look like... but we've had several high-profile instances where a major release of a Universal film was preceded by a Horror Nights attraction (The Wolfman, Happy Death Day, Dracula Untold).

Make of that what you will!

Not to mention, there are times where A&D is shown various treatments of the movie early on so they can come up with a house for it. A fantastic example is Dracula Untold as A&D was shown early footage, and made a house based off things that ultimately were cut from the theatrical release.

Considering Exorcist: Believer is co-produced by Blumhouse who has a very good relationship with Universal, and that Universal themselves are distributing the film, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that A&D has been shown some things to base a house off of.

Wasn’t there a rumor that Blumhouse was being precious with their Halloween property?

If so, I see why people are drawing the correlation.

That being said, the third Halloween Blumhouse underperformed massively, so maybe they are loosening up on these legacy IP sequels in an effort to drive interest. As well, their version has not been receiving good word of mouth from initial screenings.

Add to that the fact that we did not get the WB version of The Last of Us this year and allegedly we were supposed to get that version last year. WB holds The Exorcist rights if I recall correctly.

WB gets involved with the original films as they were the distributor for those, however Morgan Creek Entertainment has the rights to the Exorcist, and WB isn't involved at all with the new film.

I'm actually...excited for a new Exorcist haunt? Without knowing specifics of the film, as long as there are enough ideas to stretch into a full-length haunt, I can't see this being a complete failure.

My biggest issue with the original Exorcist haunt wasn't revisiting Regan's bedroom multiple times, and I think that was tackled pretty well. But those transition/sensory scenes (the pool noodle and pea soup hallways specifically) just dragged on for SO long, even without all the guest flow issues they caused, they killed any momentum. As long as the next one can avoid stretching itself too thin, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Besides, worst-case scenario it becomes a Dracula: Untold situation and is so bad that it's meme-worthy.

Conversely, a lot of us thought TCM @ 30 would be a newer version (early rumors were TC3D).

Are you talking about TCM? The fact that they did it at 30 means 33 is too soon for me. But that doesn’t mean they won’t. I just personally won’t be excited for it again.

Got it! I do believe The Happy death day house was based on the first one not the sequel (they actually made 2 , believe or not).

It is interesting because how do you do the haunt based on the new movie without spoiling the movie? Either way, I’m excited for the Exorcist. The original is Iconic. It would be cool if they did a a different story or a spin-off. As long as they have the Tubular Bells theme song it should be fun.

You make the "Insidious: The Last Key" section of the Blumhouse house that year. We went through that house at least three times and still had no idea WTF was going on in those scenes.

I've been wondering how many people in the general public even know there's a new Exorcist movie coming out. I feel like 'Exorcist: Believer" would get announced and most people would be confused lol.

Well I guess I need to dive down the rabbit hole of the haunted Exorcist house.

Any other examples of houses that had things like this?

Possibly related, I'd swear at one point after the event Aiello admitted they used subsonic frequencies in that house to make guests feel unease without realizing why. Can't remember exactly when nor where, always a possibility it's my mind playing tricks on me, but I thought that went a long way in explaining why that house had so many "incidents."

They should use that in the Cat in the Hat ride to kick it up a notch

Assuming that the rumored IPs are true, this is an unfortunate year to be without the fountain show. ST, Exorcist and TLOU all provide great music to use

I thought the same - the music would have been great (even including the Phantom of the Opera)

I don’t get it either.

It wouldn’t have been very hard at all to make a great show.
I think the technical problems from last year from the hurricane may have discouraged them a little bit.
