I don't think they specified how quickly they would get dirt moving on this, but I have to think preferably they would want this to open by late 2029 at the latest to cross-promote with Avatar 4.

Makes sense, but that's assuming Avatar 4 sticks to it's planned release date - which no Avatar movie ever has(!)

More reasons to be happy - Grizzly Peak stays :)

Avatar 4 has already moved multiple times so it already hasn't stuck to it's release date

LOL yep, I meant the 'latest' one.

This & Coco definitely have me most excited, I wonder if they could turbo charge and get it open for the Olympics? Probably not but I can dream!

Just one but it will have a high capacity. There will be other interactive things to do in the land.

Take it with a grain of salt, but Corless seems certain Avatar is taking over Hollywoodland.

Doubt. This land looks MASSIVE. Surely it’s gotta go to the DisneyForward space.

We don't think they'll try to have this ready for the LA28 Olympics? I know this is Disney we're talking about, but 4 years seems like plenty of time.

Yeah, I think Summer 2028 will be the goal for this.

I'm guessing by the time grand opening rolls around the sea will have risen to fill in the back?

Joking aside this looks good! It's nice to know we're not getting a repeat land in terms of design. The ring structure is going to look amazing. The model for it would be a cool collector's item to purchase. It would look lame as an actual table top fountain though.

I wonder if they would've done an underwater ride were it not for already having a submarine ride nearby? My second guess would be capacity issues with that system. Not many boat rides look pleasant below the waterline so that alone will be a nice addition.

Robotic school of fish creatures? :D

My guess is a second ride but they may not yet have settled on what it will be. I think some kind of walk through or meet a Banshee (Like Raptor encounter) too.

Can't really see anything in the concept but the model does appear they're toying with the idea of letting us walk through caves near the waterfall. Interactive things might be in there and protected from the elements. Views from the elevated paths looking back over the land are going to be beautiful.

Obviously conceptual but this looks like it could be some kind of meet and greet area? Signage or artistic flare, maybe too early to call it.

Avatar isn't replacing Grizzly Peak. Just wanted to get that out there.

It's absolutely bonkers to me that some of the posters on WDWMagic are absolutely apoplectic at the prospect of losing Rivers of America, yet they have such a hate (redacted) for DCA that they'll turn around and claim Grizzly Peak is a waste of space with rides you could get at any regional amusement park.

That Grizzly Peak is one of only a few really nice areas in the entire park (and River Run is really good!) I don’t get it.

It's in competition with Popeye's for one of the best rapid rides in the country! It has relaxing, water-filled walkways underneath the lift hill! And it's aesthetics were vastly upgraded in 2015 with the integration of Condor Flats into the area!

Yet people there still pop up to say that DCA was better as a parking lot. Like, what are we doing?

They would be foolish to put Avatar anywhere else in DCA besides the DisneyForward space. For Pete's sake, why would you make a big deal about all of this expansion space you got....and then not use it? Like come on now.

If the reason is building it in Hollywood gets the project done significantly sooner, I get it. Otherwise, I’m with you 100 percent.

Yeah, Popeyes is its only competition (imo) and both the quiet walking path and the main drag evoke California better than anywhere else in the park (again, imo). Being nostalgic about pre-Radiator Springs DCA just makes me sad lmao.

I just don't see how they could build something that open and expansive in the Hollywoodland area without having the monorail going right through it. Maybe if they bulldoze Hyperion Theater because those Broadway-style productions are expensive and as far as I know they haven't been quite the same draw as Aladdin and maybe Frozen were, but still seems like a weird trade for all of that in exchange for what is one or at most two Avatar rides.

I'll miss Award Wieners.

I'm all about getting this built as quick as possible, but I'd think building in a parking lot would be quicker than having to demolish Hollywoodland first?

Giving the possibility of this going into Hollywoodland the benefit of the doubt, DLR is very efficient at maximizing the land they already have and can make things work like what they did to build SWGE and MMRR. So Avatar will also be built in a way that gives it an immersive scale but also maximizes the space its in very well.
