The drop on Rise of the Resistance is a perfect example of this IMO.

I 100% agree. I think it's one of the major things keeping the Ministry ride from being at the same level; it just doesn't really have that "Wow" thrill moment like Hagrid's or Rise's drop track.

Yeah, humans are pretty simple when it comes to what's "fun" in a ride. You just have to look at the most bare bones no-theme iron rides and see what they do, and how they move people. That's the test lab for "fun ride." They spin you, zoom you, drop you, fly you...It was all figured out a century ago.

When Disney and Universal are spending $300 million on an "exciting" new attraction filled with animations and sets and giant screens and special effects...they just need to remember to stick in one or two moments that are plucked from iron rides. Because no matter how many million-dollar animatronics and effects and "story" in there, the guests are going to scream and laugh the most when you spin them, zoom them, drop them, or fly them because for just a moment everything seems out of control.

Those are the moments where it goes from world-class virtual reality, to the actual physical sensations of being in that world. No amount of wind fans, screens, or forced-perspective tricks are going to change the fact that a person isn't actually moving that much. Star Tours is ancient, but it swings you around like crazy so I have a lot more fun with it than the technically far more impressive Millennium Falcon. The biggest wow-moments of Gringotts isn't Voldemort's appearance or the trolls, it's the coaster hanging in place leading into the drop, or the launch with the Ironbelly dragon.

FWIW, WDWMagic users have their fingers crossed that if Disney moves full steam ahead on Infinity Defense construction, they might make a late 2026 opening in time for Doomsday.

Would love for that to be the case, but that’s wildly optimistic. I would say holiday season 2026 would be the best case scenario.

If they can pull it off, there is no excuse for WDW

A year and a half from now for a new E ticket seems absurdly unrealistic. I’d love it if true, but I don’t believe that one bit.

There is a big difference between posters on the Disneyland WDWMagic forums and posters on the Disney World forums.

Agreed, though the (regrettable) standard office-building architecture/materials will make the building envelope go faster than, say, a themed/sculpted/weathered mountain or castle or something. And if the attraction is mostly screen-based (no, or few, animatronics), it could install quicker than other ambitious E-tickets. (I'd rather the structure be fantastically themed and the attraction filled with animatronics...and not open until 2027 or beyond myself.)

But it'll be kind of fun to see if the Avengers E-ticket gets done before the Porto's or Tortilla Joe's replacement!

Again, I would significantly lower your expectations. This is Disney. They will drag their heels on everything but raising prices. I still think 2027 is the time this will open.

Also, I wouldn’t expect any AAs in the ride. Maybe an Iron Man AA in the queue, but I think that’s all we’ll get. There absolutely needs to be at least a couple in here.

I'm expecting the same Ironman figure that Disneyland Paris has for their Avengers Flight Force attraction.

I think a late 2026 opening is pretty improbable unless we're literally talking a soft opening during the last two weeks of the year when passes are blocked out. Even then, it'd be a race, and that's assuming all the ride media is on track to be delivered well before that date.
