I would rather have a superhero movie with a great coherent story that has applicable political lessons (Is Superman the messiah, is he a false god etc, do we fall for powerful people just for power) than a pointless humor filled action flick a la the avengers. And if they made it that way everyone would be saying WB and DC is just copying Marvel. The world is in danger, when has that ever been a funny thing...

It's too dark. Too serious.

Obviously there will be a little humor (though Man of Steel was virtually devoid of it), but my issue is that the movie doesn't look remotely fun. Visually? Bad ass. Tone? Meh.

Maybe Man of Steel tainted my view since I thought that movie's trailers made it look incredible.

I agree 110%. No fun whatsoever.

not everything can be Iron Man Marvel is doing the light, fun movies so it makes sense that DC would focus on a more serious dark tone. It allows them to make their stuff feel different.
I don't see a problem. Marvel can keep the one liners and the jokes and DC can focus on the darker stuff

The only good thing about the first movie were the Kevin Costner scenes. I was very let down. So my expectations for this one are tempered.

Pa Kent was the worst part of the movie for me outside of the last act.

Dark and light can coexist in the same universe, Daredevil proved that. DC is making heroes darker than needed just because of how successful the Nolan films were.

What the junk did I just watch?

Why the heck is Superman being portrayed as a god?

Why the heck is Batsy so pissed off?

Why the heck are they even making this movie?

So far Id rather see Tobey CryFace McGuire play Peter Parker again.

The problem is making a movie about an all-powerful alien and a rich dude who dresses like a bat with a sidekick who looks like a Christmas elf SUPER CEREAL YOU GUYS.

It's a ridiculous premise treated like it's Shakespeare. Superheroes are fun. Make them fun.

I personally think it looks awesome. However, I'm not sure how I'm gonna feel when Wonder Woman and Aquaman are thrown into the mix. I wish it was just strictly Batman and Superman. But I'm on board with Affleck as Batman. I think he looks great.

I'm surprised that I actually like Affleck as Batman in this trailer, in fact, he may be the best thing about the trailer (him and that last line). He actually looks great in the suit, and he seems genuinely scary ( dare I say terrifying). It looks like we'll be getting quite a different version of Bats here. Affleck's Batman appears to be quite pissed off about something, and it appears he's doing quite a bit of damage. I honestly can't tell what this version of Bats is capable of, and that's kind of thrilling.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of SUPER CEREAL YOU GUYS

Honestly, I hope the movie is not this dour. Because that trailer borders on self parody.

Exactly what I thought. It's James Cameron in movie form: pompous, over-the-top, self-important.

It sure looks pretty though.

Agreed.

I think Zach Snyder is a pretty middling director, but could have been one of the best cinematographers of all time. Guy just has an eye

Just across the bay....

In all reality, that doesn't bother me. Same argument could be used for Avengers.

Leto's Joker sounds way too much like Ledger's. Like, nearly uncanny. Harley looks...okay, I guess?

The rest of the cast looks great though

Suicide Squad looks 10x better than BvS. It looks like it has a solid identity. It knows what it is and looks dark AND fun. BvS looks like "let's throw all of Batman mythology at the wall and see what sticks to Superman."

The same could be used for some MCU films (I'm looking at you Thor 2), but by putting so much emphasis on Superman's destruction (the imagery invokes 9/11) and the fact that there was a giant terraforming machine at two different locations and the U.S. government responded... I can't help but wonder where Wonder Woman is during all of that? She obviously has time to join in the BvS brawl. But not to save earth? It wouldn't be such a big deal if they took time to sort of build this world where all the heroes come out of the woodwork after Superman's arrival (like Iron Man instigated heroes and villains to emerge, or Batman did the same in Nolan's trilogy) but when you imply that there are decades worth of heroes and villains in this universe (Robin has been trained and grown up and been killed by the Joker already, Wonder Woman and Batman are apparently friends, etc) then it seems odd that nobody showed up during the battle (really it's because it wasn't planned out thoroughly).

Other humorous notes on the BvS trailer:
  • The Kents are officially the worst, most nihilistic parents ever. That's twice they've told Clark that he should basically disregard the human race in favor of self-preservation.
  • I'm really glad Superman had time to descend slowly from the heavens while that family was sitting on top of their flooded house. I'm sure they appreciated the aesthetics of that.
