There is a second gate at Universal by Blue Man group that comes in handy sometimes. Also we stay at hotel off Major blvd and have made that walk numerous times when we want to drink and not drive and dont stay onsite, its a little hike but its not too bad. I can see it being an adventure with kids and a stroller or someone who is handicap, but other that that is manageable, and not too mention its a further walk than Portifino

NICE!

So, I'd guess 100 rooms on floors 2 to 7, with the ground floor having restaurants, amenities, etc.

I wonder what (if any) specialty restaurants CBBR will have to entice non-guests to the hotel, considering Royal Pacific has Emeril's Tchoup Chop, Portofino has Bice and Mama Della's, and Hard Rock has The Palm.

Maybe New American cuisine? Or an upscale version of Mel's?

My money is on a giant Food Court with Stations themed like classic American roadside diners/cafes.

Anyone else envisioning some type of open-air buses used for transportation to the parks from CBBR? I'm sure they could themematically match the resort boats pretty well and just have flaps or something that comes down with it rains. Of course this would all mean a new entrance as I don't see them dropping resort guests off at the current Taxi/bus drop-off point.

A bus is really the most logical choice for transportation at this point.

There is a shuttle bus that comes around every 20 minutes for the existing 3 resorts and drops off right near the main gate of Uni Studios. The buses are almost always empty but are a nice option to resort hop or take during the rain. I would guess they just purchase 2 more and have them go back and forth from CBBR to the main gate drop off.

I really hope they don't make a new entrance to be honest...Port of Entry is such an amazing entrance that it would be a shame for first time guests to not be able to walk through it at the beginning of their day.

If there's no Express and no convenient way to get to the parks, what exactly is the incentive of staying at this hotel? I doubt there's a whole hotel's-worth of people who would be willing to stay here for theme alone. I would imagine that most people would just say screw it and stay at the Holiday Inn or something for roughly the same amount of walking and probably a fraction of the price. The people who want to shell out money to stay onsite would be staying at the deluxe resorts I would think...I just don't see the incentive.

If the plan is to use regular old buses or shuttles, then why bother building a bridge? I guess it would be for those who want the option to walk, but I still say it's a liability nightmare sending your guests on a mile long trek on a skinny sidewalk alongside heavy traffic outside of the controlled world of the resort and parks. The other 3 hotels have walking paths that are pretty clean, traffic-free, relatively safe and secure, and are physically part of the resort and CityWalk. I don't think the Hollywood Way sidewalks can be equated to the other walkways. If I were a UO laywer, I would vote against encouraging guests to walk along Hollywood Way.

Seems to me that if they were going to use buses, the bus stop(s) would be within the friendly confines of the resort itself. They would just build one or a series of CBBR bus stops (like a Disney Moderate.)

So...... I'm rooting for a bridge that takes you not only across Hollywood Way but actually inside the gates of IOA - but NOT into a new park entrance. It leads to a backstage tram station behind JP. The tram runs back and forth behind Dudley, Spiderman and Hulk, and drops you off outside Citywalk. Maybe a walkway, too.

Am I nuts?

^I'm fairly sure Cabana Bay and the surrounding area and infrastructure will have the safety and beauty of the other 3 resort hotels.

Agreed! And it's a half-mile walk (comparable to the walk from RPR to CityWalk).

The walk from CBBR to Citywalk will definitely be further than the walk from RPR to Citywalk.

And how do you think they will be able to beautify and secure the Hollywood Way sidewalk to make it comparable to the other walkways?

If they were smart, they would make a second entrance into the park specifically for Cabana stayers. When you think about the amount of people and traffic this new resort is going to cause, it would make sense to simplify the walk/transportation by having another entrance.
Less Walk/Less Transportation back and forth.

I still suggest having a walkway to Citywalk, but I think realistically it would make sense to have a side entrance for these stayers.

I am positive they have come up with an incentive. The best one would be early entrance and breakfast at either Hogsmeade OR Diagon Alley. They have figured out how to handle that for one area... two will be a cakewalk and vastly popular. Other items could include collectors shopping bags, commemorative cards under bedroom pillows, VIP meet and greets at the resort. I could bark out these cheap yet historically successful come-on's for days.

Hollywood way really isn't all that busy. Certainly much less busy than Universal Blvd. and it looks a fair bit nicer as well. I've walked along that stretch a few times and it isn't a bad walk at all. In terms of the security and worrying about families taking the entire sidewalk plus some creating safety issues, I'm not sure how much they can widen the sidewalk with the small berm that's there already right at the edge of the backstage road that they need to keep open.

I wonder with so many people staying at CBBR, lets say one day everyone at all four resorts use early addmission to Potter, and there are a bunch of AP holders too. Man it wouldn't be too comfortable. It only makes sense that an extra hour for hotel guests happens in the future, and maybe my only rule would be one hotel per night.
