I heard a nasty rumor that the Cabana Bay guests will only have early admission to Hogsmead and not Diagon Alley. Is this true? I don't think CB guests should be punished and other on-site guests get rewarded with EA to DA just because they spent more money on their hotel room.

This is absolutely NOT TRUE!! CBBR guests will get early park admission to BOTH parks, they just do not get express with their room keys.

I often wonder where these rumors come from.

Even if this is true why would it be nasty? If you pay more you get more privileges. And I'm not the person staying at the more expensive ones, I usually stay offsite. And it's not being punished. It's America. Work harder if you want the best things.

I believe there is a very good reason why it is much larger. I never knew this until today, so call me silly, but there is a Phase III+ to this project! Has this been known for a long time? Eees very tall...

Stayed one night at Cabana Bay this weekend just to try it out (we normally stay at Hard Rock). Really nice resort with a very unique vibe to it. Rooms are great for a family of five. We stayed on the back side of the Thunderbird building and had a great view of Hogwarts and Jurassic Park. Staff was all very friendly. The buses were on time and easy to get to and from the parks. Overall I would give the resort an A-. Only reason for an A- is the lazy river was not open yet. But once that phase opens, bump that up to an A. Another home run for Universal in my opinion.

Stayed there this weekend as well. Very impressed with the quality of the resort and was quite nice for a value type resort. The buses were great and actually quite comfortable, the staff was excellent, the suites were pretty roomy and nice, and I really like the aesthetics very MIBish.

Some of the downsides, the bowling alley could have more lanes, the arcade was bit too D&B ripoffy, could hear the music through the walls in the room, everything closed a little too early, food was average, I'm not sure if the fans worked in the bathroom or shower, and the entry gates banged really loudly.

I definitely did miss the water taxis and express passes though. I didn't think I would miss the water taxis as much as I did, putting you back at the bus loop of city walk seemed a little too far.

Overall comparing it to the other resorts on property, I would give it a B for right now but once everything is completed definitely see this being an A. It was definitely better than Pop Century by a long ways.

First I have heard of this but they still have plenty of space down to the south end of CBBR. The area looks like it is currently used for construction workers parking, offices and staging. Once they clear out could we see "The Two Towers" appear here? I am sure they would want to utilize this parcel of land and they may as well do now whilst construction is ongoing. I am asumimg that you mean Two blocks of hotel towers as opposed to anything LOTR related :look:.

Here is what I call Phase III of Cabana Bay Hotel. Two 80-100' cylindrical towers that are part of Universal's Master plan for their southerly property.

The plus you asked? See other thread...

You now have me thoroughly confused, and if you wouldn't mind, I'd love to know if I should be keeping an eye out on any land changing hands, since you mentioned the southerly property (or maybe confirm a little hunch I've been entertaining...). I'm not quite sure what cylindrical towers of that height would have to do with transportation, which is my main line of thinking. My first thought was a hotel tower to block the view/noise of the water park from the rest of the resort, but that doesn't seem to be what you're hinting at...

They're just hotel towers. The Cabana land is south of the parks and that was all that I meant by the word south. I didn't really hint at anything here... two towers was just a play on words based on the other thread that I posted in. It's all very simple.

Ahhh, ok, but circular towers for rooms? Those don't make as much sense to me as a long tower closing in the complex would (and fixing any sightline weirdness with the water park), although it does take up less land, but I'm not on the project.

Also, can anyone tell me if I'll still be ticked off driving up Turkey Lake Rd. tomorrow evening (should I do so, of course) and see a section the neon on the Americana building sign still not working? That was bugging me for weeks, but I haven't been that way at night in about two weeks now.

The towers and even the pool and lazy river on this side of the Resort will have a sweet view with that volcano and all of WonderSea. And the proximity to the water park... CBBR will be booked solid year-round!

Circular towers also don't mesh with the feel of the rest of the resort for me, either. Just seems a bit too modern for the retro style. But I'm sure they'll find a way to try and make it blend.

Just got back from a 4-night stay at Cabana, what a fantastic value resort. I loved the feel and vibe of the hotel, the amenities were fantastic and I'm sure with the opening of the 2nd wing (and maybe 3rd ;) ) things can keep improving. All the employees were awesome, Bayliner Diner's food was actually QUITE good, and incredibly reasonable, the Game-O-Rama arcade was great and so was the bowling alley. Drinks at the pool were delicious, the slide (although short) was very fun, and I thought the whole "Movie on the Lawn" every night was a really nice touch.

Buses ran very often, the longest we waited for a bus was a little under 10 minutes, most times faster than the water taxis from the other resorts (I have stayed at all 3 of them).

Rooms were very spacious, clean, decorated nicely. Only cons I have is that the beds weren't the most comfortable and the pillows were way too soft for my liking, and the TVs (after leaving them alone for about 30 minutes) would sometimes shut themselves off (I'm assuming to save power).

All in all, great resort, fantastic value and I'll definitely be coming back to Cabana Bay. Why stay at some off-prop hotel on I-Drive for $130 a night when you can stay here for the same or most likely less. A must-stay, in my opinion.

Kids movies mainly. I believe they were showing Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 1 & 2 while I was there this week.
