And it looks like crap. Reel and I talked a lot about it before we put that up on Parkscope...and we have no idea what to think about it.

It looked like crap because it seemed to be just a massive parking lot.

But according to ParkRumors, this is just a mass grading plan, and the resort looks nothing like this.

The documents filed with the SFWMD are for basin improvements, not for actual construction. "Basin imporvements" are exactly what they sound like... improvements to the current drainage basins in preparation for future construction on those plots of land. The parking lots you see are there to illustrate the future mass grading of land on both the hotel and staging area sites. The reason that second lot of land was highlighted in the plans (the staging area) is because it too has drainage basins that will be affected.

The parking lot you see is the preparation for the mass grading of the future hotel site, and the other plot of land was highlighted in the plans because that's for the massive staging area for the project, as well as 722.

There are massive building footprints as well as clear parking areas on both plots of land. One might be a staging area until it isn't a staging area. Parking details must be present to display the area of water runoff that must be contained and controlled.

These documents are simply for drainage basin improvements and have no baring on actual construction. There are nearly 20 documents posted about this project on the SFWMD, most of which were posted over a month ago. I'm not going to go sort through all of them again to quote them, but if you have the time, you can go read about it.

As for the document...I really hope it isn't going to be that much parking lot! I think we know where overflow parking for the parks and CityWalk for whenever HP 2.0 opens will be.

Parking and transportation used this and the other dirt lot for overflow parking, so I can see them making a large parking complex if that is still necessary (it will be in the future)

Have there been any foundation permits or foundation inspections scheduled that have been found? I couldn't see too much, but it did look like they were starting to dig down in the upper corner of the lot at the Turkey Lake/Hollywood Way intersection. They were also doing some utility work, so it could have been for that as well. Otherwise just massive piles of dirt that have been pushed around.

Thinking about going up in a chopper next week. We'll see about that.

In the lot between RP and Cabana their are numerous offices set up for all the different contractors.

Can someone confirm this is the right plot of land? I can't tell if it's the CB land or the one next to RP.

I'm going to guess that this ground work is located on the southern part of the land next to Turkey Lake road. I would check google maps on this, as I did, but you can tell that the attractions are far away from the location of the picture.

It's interesting that they're not leaving any room next to Hollywood Way should they ever want to extend the waterway. I realize they said they aren't going to, but they're shooting themselves in the foot if they ever change their minds.

Yeah I'm shocked at these plans. Heck there's no way to walk to City Walk like the rest of the hotels. I would rather walk instead of take a shuttle. I mean where are we Disney?

There will be sidewalks. You'll be able to walk. It just won't be recommended.

And technically, there would be room to expand the waterway to the hotel.

Eh... It is only a 3000' walk to the underpass walkway at Royal Pacific. Many of the Disney parking lots are nearly that should the lazy thunder-thighs decide to walk. *attitude intended*
