^ Agreed but its picking up pace now. Today at 3 in the afternoon there were three separate teams working outside.

I'm sorry but I fail to see how a few windows and the covering of Gru's car is picking up the pace. I do agree however that it is the longest roofing job in history.

Maybe its due to the fact this is the first time since the facade has started they had 3 separate teams working on it during business hours...

I was at Universal this past Saturday and there were workers present that day also as in times previous that I have been there so all I am saying is I see workers there but I just don't see any break neck progress as of yet.

Thanks for the update, hatetofly!

It is taking them a long time, but they're making it look great. Plus, they have a lot of projects going on, and also in this one, they're working on the inside too. It's slated to open in the summer, so let them take their time and do a great job

I'll get some pics this weekend too, to observe progress ;)

Because the work on the shingles slowed down(it never stopped as you notice in the images there is always more somewhere) we are saying it is taking forever for the facade?(it is not even really a facade at this point as it is a multiple angle structure) It is coming along pretty fast and nicely to me. They want this thing to last for a good while and look nice.

Also notice the vehicle in the 'garage' themed area of the house. That kind of stopped production on the roof as that prop/set piece was ready to roll in. Notice now it is covered.

Construction update. It looks as if they've outlined something on the front, for a door perhaps?

Does this mean anything to anyone?

Building permit for "Project Dave - Despicable Me"

New construction: Certainteed Synthetic Slate Symphony Series (colonial gray); over Atlas Weathermaster Polyseal self-adhered, SBS modified bitumen underlayment; with Firestone UNA CLAD 040 aluminum mill finish edge metal, flashings and gutters.

The terminology sounds like gibberish to me except for a few words like gutter :P The whole house is gray, so it's probably something for the house structure (or are we still gonna call it facade?). Maybe for the roof? maybe for the walls?

Certainteed Synthetic Slate Symphony Series = Roofing shingles (visable part of roof).

Atlas Weathermaster Polyseal self-adhered, SBS modified bitumen underlayment = Self sealing water barrier (seals around nails). Helps prevent water damage should the shingles be blown off or otherwise damaged.

Firestone UNA CLAD 040 aluminum mill finish edge metal, flashings and gutters = Flashing is used where the roof meets the wall, where the roof lines intersect and other similar areas to prevent water intrusion. Gutters as you know catch the water coming off the roof and direct it to the desired location.

No it won't be sorry. But hey look on the bright side you will get to experience an all new Spiderman, the new parade, new night show, and depending on how long its been since your last visit a much nicer Universal Orlando. They have really done a great job over the last 12 months in getting things cleaned up and or replaced.

^ thanks Felipe! It appears they are going to stamp the brickwork as that is a rough concrete base coat (on mesh I would assume).

How will the line begin? Rather, where will guests enter and will there be an Express entrance?

Right through the front door of Gru's house. Not sure yet if the split for express and stand bye will be receded back or right up on the porch.
