^ This has been my thought as well as I was figuring the non moving area will be gone as well thus allowing the screen and possibly and extra row of seats to be placed there.

I don't think they will be adding any extra motion based seating to the area.

What we will likely get is a new screen closer(ultimately allowing for more room mostly for the first preshow room) and the leftover space in front or behind the screen area will likely be used for practical effects such as fog(Jimmy tried it but it hardly ever worked and was not overly impressive) smells and other surprises.

Seems people keep forgetting the old store is now part of the pre-show area (pick up glasses and proceed to the room itself), while part of the old post show area is part of the new store...

I don't think anyone is forgetting that so much as trying to figure out how that also fits in with the post show concept we were also told we were getting at the end of the attraction. So we will have a post show as well as a store and a new preshow area in that space. It is more of us trying to figure out how all of that will fit in.

By post show, do you mean that dance party they were talking about? I think that's just the last part of the ride, or there might be a little area right after the ride, probably as you enter the shop, with some minions, music and lights.

The dance party is not part of the ride. The ride is Minion training. After that is the post show exit area. There will be something similar to what you said. Who knows on what scale the interactive dance party area will be.

What I am scratching my head over right now are the 2 VERY different paint schemes being used in the lower exterior of the building. The blue to purple is jarring in person and feels out of place.

^ Agreed, it almost makes me wonder if they might be testing paint schemes. The entire exterior is without a doubt one of the strangest projects I have witness Universal Orlando build in some time.

Something else to ponder.

Somewhere in the building they had to construct storage/a cleaning machine for the glasses. Since the attractions that were housed in here have never been 3D before they will likely have installed a machine inside the building, or maybe go the rougher rout of storing them in large amounts and transporting them every night for cleaning
(the way Disney does it is insane with central locations)

Kinda takes color swatching to whole new level huh? I don't know what else it could be other than testing color schemes.

If that's the case, then I must say... I much prefer the blue.

I think the two colors separate the ride building from the store. The store will now be at the end of the building unlike before, and I think the purple coloring will be used to distinguish it from the rest of the building. Hopefully once a sign is installed the color won't be as noticeable.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but they are right in front of another 3D attraction. Though, I don't know if maintenance procedure would be different for the two types of 3D glasses

I agree. I just hope they put something at the point where the color scheme changes, so it's doesn't look so bad.

Well I am hoping there is some sort of divider, or something. But they brought down the walls right there, which to me feels like they are saying "this is done"

However I do realize that Mardi Gras has been happening and they might have simply taken down the walls for Traffic Flow reasons.

So if the walls go back up around that area I will be happy!

I would also guess the wall came down for crowd control, and also I because speculate that the shop will open sooner than the ride. I don't think the wall needs to go back up, but maybe overnight they can install a divider later on...

They said Summer...and to the parks Spring is all the way up to June 2nd. So for a Summer official opening anyone else thinking July 2nd? With the monitors up and exterior work going as it is I would not think it would look to be going in that direction but this stuff could also just be going up to test and adjust.

I was thinking July as well. They've been saying Summer just to cover their asses most likely and it's honestly better for them to open "early" then to postpone.

Also, it only took 6 months for them to change-over to Jimmy Neutron from Hanna-Barbera. This looks like it's going to take nearly 11 months to get open. Just an interesting thought.

I saw this movie not to awful long ago. Wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be (but that tends to happen when I arrive super late to a popular movie with mounting expectations) but it was still fun and I saw a lot of my nieces in those girls, which I'm sure was part of the intended appeal. The minions sounded very Jawa-like, which was cool because I happen to love Jawas. It has a lot of ride potential and I'm getting more and more excited for this one. I had also forgotten it was a Universal film (vs Dreamworks) and love that Uni is using their own brand to replace a non-branded ride. Later, Neutron. I'll miss you not.

Well put my friend. I think a lot of people are discounting this one just because it is a motion simulator and what was there prior to it.

But I think Universal is investing a lot into this where the other areas they did not have to. A lot of work seems to be going on inside and it is a vast improvement from the two attractions that were their prior. Hannah Barberra was just a low prototype for Back to The Future's ride system before they added the seperate room loading concept and larger dome theater for the immsersive concept.

This is going to be superioer in quality all around as far as many can tell and just from the obvious extra theming/effort that the two attractions prior never really had before. Not even counting the obvious 3D/4K projection and screen upgrades.

Also agree with you big time on the Universal Brand. It was their first hit of that nature in both movie, merchandise and appeal in a long time. Particularly family appeal. Universal has not really tapped into that market since Fivel and Land Before Time. Which were produced through Don Bleuth Animation just to have appeal to kids. Their stories never struck large chords in audience's hearts.

As for the thought posted on 11months vs a half a year change over from the last time this building had an overhaul. No slow working going on. More money and more effort as stated above. This is going to make The Simpsons Ride seem that much more meh.

The store now has a sign, it's "Super Silly Stuff". I'm sure someone will get a pic soon.
