Thanks BJCool and Matpez!!

These look like they're sheets of bricks (or I'm guessing so from what looks like some sort of glue residue on the left of the front porch), so it should make for a quicker install than the shingles

This is probably some of the more basic merch we can expect from the Super Silly Stuff store. I believe this is at an airport UOR location. Minion t-shirts, and replicas of the toy and book seen in the movie were always a given.

glue on bricks... I wish I understood better the whys of techniques. Like, why the concrete on mesh base for brick apliques over moisture barrier fabric. The later is the only thing I get.

Well put my friend. I think a lot of people are discounting this one just because it is a motion simulator and what was there prior to it.

But I think Universal is investing a lot into this where the other areas they did not have to. A lot of work seems to be going on inside and it is a vast improvement from the two attractions that were their prior. Hannah Barberra was just a low prototype for Back to The Future's ride system before they added the seperate room loading concept and larger dome theater for the immsersive concept.

This is going to be superioer in quality all around as far as many can tell and just from the obvious extra theming/effort that the two attractions prior never really had before. Not even counting the obvious 3D/4K projection and screen upgrades.

Also agree with you big time on the Universal Brand. It was their first hit of that nature in both movie, merchandise and appeal in a long time. Particularly family appeal. Universal has not really tapped into that market since Fivel and Land Before Time. Which were produced through Don Bleuth Animation just to have appeal to kids. Their stories never struck large chords in audience's hearts.

As for the thought posted on 11months vs a half a year change over from the last time this building had an overhaul. No slow working going on. More money and more effort as stated above. This is going to make The Simpsons Ride seem that much more meh.

Completely agree. I think Universal is on to something really good here. I don't hope it goes the route of Land Before Time or Shrek in terms of sequels, but movies like this, Lilo and Stitch, etc, touch base on broken families and that packs a very relatable and emotional punch.

In other news, I am LOVING that facade!

Love the attraction sign. But the store sign is kind of odd to me.

I know, right? Wouldn't it have made more sense to have it be something that at least relates to the ride? A minion making the same expression as the out of place alien there now would have been a better choice, IMO.

That'd work. Or even a 3D sign with a unicorn, or Teebin's favorite Minion-made unicorn.

Yup, definitely in love with the attraction sign. The store sign....not so much. Why did they decide to go with an overgrown bug....what does that have to do with the film or ride at all??? I don't know, seems out of place. I agree with Jtsalien, they should have gone with an overgrown minion, or a unicorn (personally, I would have preferred a unicorn). In other news, I hope they sell large fluffy unicorns inside the store and not just the small ones we've seen so far. I also would definitely buy a plush minion, and I would love to make my own minion as well. Hoping the store opens before the ride so I can sneak in and start my spending spree early.

Maybe it is something from the Ride or Despicable Me 2?

The store sign is in the design of the amusement park they go to in the first one, I believe.

Missed your post yesterday. Will try and answer today. . .

The metal lath is fastened over the moisture barrier to the sheathing. The lath is used to reinforce and secure the scratch coat to the sheathing. The scratch coat is applied to the lath and left rough to give the brick veneer a good surface to bond to. The veneer was most likely installed with type "N Masonry Cement".

This process is instead of the installation of a full brick veneer wall. This uses full bricks and would be spaced off the sheathing and secured with brick ties (metal straps) to the structure.
