Preview might be canceled due to rain, but the walls for Despicable could come down as soon as tomorrow.

true or just get employees inside the ride during the rain as they could use good'l theater where the eyegore awards for the drinks and food and photo op.

Preview has been confirmed as delayed until next week.  The ride will not be available during this preview as they are not expecting technical rehearsals until sometime in the middle of March.

Wellllllllll, I've got a treat for you guys! I went to the park to see if the walls came down. THEY DID!  ...Most anyway... here you go!

I was surprised they let me up so close past the barricades they had set up... But that didn't last long. Some management saw how close I was and told the cast to move me back, Haha! Still awesome!

Excellent video!!! Glad you got such a close look! The facade looks absolutely fantastic. Love the little details and the doorbells.

I'm still pissed that you can see through a few of the facades and that on the other side is the plain blue and very minimally themed metal switchbacks and blue metal walls. Wish they themed it a BIT more...like, sorry I'm complaining, but to have such a beautiful themed facade and then beautiful interior portion, I'm a little disappointed in the plain "extended" queue (which isn't really extended, considering that's gonna always be used and be your first view once you enter the house.) I would've completely enclosed everything and make Gru's house start the second you enter the house.

Either way, I'm excited!

Oh, by the way, when I went Tuesday, I didn't get pics cuz my camera died, but from outside of the park (in front of the arch) you can see large posters advertising the Minions on the side of the ride building (on the blue part of the building), similar to the Minion posters adorning the sides of the Orlando ride building.

A big reason I like the addition of Minion Mayhem? The Despicable Me franchise is a UNIVERSAL STUDIOS series!!!!! Back to basics ;)

Waiting for pics.

Looks very good but still unfinished. Didn't have my sound on, but is the music loop playing yet?

Thanks for the video.

So you enter Grus house only to exit into a un themed metal switch backs before re entering his house for the pre shows.

Cheap. Cheap. Cheap.

You would NEVER see this at Disney.

Too bad Despicable Me isn't owned by another film studio that would make sure Universal didn't cut corners on their attractions.

It's stroller parking. The editors made it very clear that there's no single rider (as of opening).

It looks fine. Idgaf about the queue theming and not all of Disney is immersive and greatly themed either.

*sigh* here we go again. Let's agree to disagree regarding this topic. My biggest reason for hating the minimal themeing in the first part of the queue is that it's BEHIND the super amazing and detailed facade. You don't see that at Disney. You know what I mean? Like, if the minimally themed queue was an extended queue that's to the side of the ride (like Transfomers), I wouldn'tcomplain AT ALL. But cconsidering that they went to such great lengths to make such a phenomenal facade, I would've wanted the immersive feeling to stay all the way through, from the second I enter Gru's house. It just feels like a gap in themeing. You got: AMAZING FACADE....cheap minimalistic first part of the queue....AMAZING INTERIOR PORTION OF THE QUEUE. That gap in immersion is what upsets me, because of the amazing facade. They could've and should've enclose the entire exterior part of rhe queue or theme it better to better connect everything. Because if they're going to great lengths to provide a high quality product, they should offer that all the way through.

Just my thoughts and explanation why it bothers me. It doesn't bother me for certain other rides because they don't have the amazing facade that DM has.

I think some of you guys are being a little harsh. I honestly think we should all be happy that Universal is stepping up their game at all. Let's be honest, this park was probably in danger of closing in recent times. It's great to see them putting some time and effort into the important parts. As you can see from some of these pictures, there is still a good amount of themeing http://micechat.com/57087-look-inside-despicable-minion-mayhem-universal-studios-hollywood/

I've seen the Florida version in person, and it pales in comparison to this. I'm just saying, all together, they are dumping tons of money into the park, and things are only going to get better. Baby steps to success.

I'm happy at all the progress Universal is making, trust me. I'm thrilled to shreds. I sincerely am. And I sincerely am super amazed at the detail they DID put in and that we're getting such a great family attraction, and that USH will continue expanding. However, that doesn't mean we can't point out where some of us would like to see improvements. We can't ONLY post positive reactions, you know?

Universal CAN do 100% complete immersion. Most of IOA was built that was from day 1, and Potter cemented that. I'm really excited for DM. I'm jusy nitpicking on certain details I'd like to see. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate the expansion or anything ;)

I hear you. I just think that the the first part of the queue is so small in the big picture. The Facade is amazing, we get Super Silly Fun Land, and they are building a spinner. All of those things are BRAND NEW for THIS PARK. The last thing I think of is "cheap". You're not the only one I'm addressing though, Allen. Don't worry.

I totally agree that we shouldn't only focus on the positive. I just think there is SO MUCH positive from all of this that the queue is kinda... hard for me to worry about. Especially when we all know that a year from now, the extended queue will hardly ever by used. Yea, if we were looking for perfection, I would want the queue to be a bit more interesting. But does it detract drastically from the entire attraction? Not in my eyes.

I believe these are first steps for Universal, expect future attractions to blow away everything we've seen before. Once they build Harry Potter, they will never be able to go back to their old ways. It's all up from here.

i'm not mad about the line, for something like this... a little simple wouldn't kill anyone and they did a great job with the ride overall so far as its one of those rides that sure its a simulator but its enjoyable and i'll be happy on the ride just because its enjoyable.

Obviously it's not gonna kill anyone, but some of us have high expectations for Universal and wanna see full immersion. But from what I've seen so far, my expectations have been 90% met except for that outdoor portion of the queue, so props to Universal for still being in the "A" grade zone ;)

Here's how I see it: Universal is basically upping the ante a lot from the Orlando version, but within limitations. Otherwise, it's mostly a clone. Orlando has a covered extended queue with monitors and missile speakers, and this is what Hollywood is copying.

And I know nothing will be added that will blow anyone's minds here, but I have to beg for the conversation to keep open-minded until they at least see the finished version in person.

Also Disney would TOTALLY do something like this, guys. They have indeed. Look at DCA: tons of minimally themed queue-lines. Disneyland doesn't get off easy either. The new Star Tours' extended queue is a dimly-lit building with a wraparound while Star Wars music blares overhead. It fits the style, however, I shrug and kind of get over it.

^ obviously I'm saving my full opinion for when I experience it I'm person.

And oh come on, you know as well as I do that being compared to DCA isn't a good example ;) hahahaha

The park still needs so much work.
