We probably should change the Main thread name to Disney Springs.

An upscale chocolate shop (Disney-run) called The Ganachery is coming to The Landing area of Disney Springs. I'd assume this will be in the area next to Sound Lion, as that's the only remaining available spot in The Landing. The blog post states the shop will open by the end of 2015.

I will still call it Downtown Disney, just like I still call HS, "MGM"

What's funny is that the majority of the road signage around WDW had already changed to 'Disney Springs' a few weeks back whilst I was in Orlando. Slightly confusing when you're looking to visit what was still technically known as 'Downtown Disney' at the time.

Well they had to get all the signage changed out before they could "technically" rename it. You don't officially rename something while there is still mass signage up that signifies that the property is known as DTD.

My point is that the average guest/tourist staying off-site has no idea what Disney Springs is. Most the signs on I4 read 'Downtown Disney', you follow the exit onto WDW property and suddenly they stop and 'Disney Springs' signage appears.

Unless you know (like I did) of the project going on there, it could have been a very confusing situation for some guests. I'm sure it has all been rectified now though :)

Many things are confusing around that area at the moment as they continue to roll things out and make progress. The new ramp that provides direct access to the 3rd floor of the parking garage from the Epcot side of Buena Vista Blvd (and will connect in with the I4 exit) is still very unknown to most guests. Every time we take that ramp for what is very convenient access to the garage, it seems as if no one else realizes that the garage entry is that way.

I have to say after visiting this past weekend, I think it is going to be pretty good. The garage is much nicer and way easier to park than before. When the second garage opens it will be even nicer since it is more centrally located. Getting to the garage was much easier than the parking and with the ramps, that road will be much easier to navigate. So I am impressed that Disney did SOMETHING right for once. As for shop offerings, there is not much new opened yet. The few things that were new, look nice. I will reserve judgement on that until more things open up. But I think this project will be a success in the end.

It's being reported by multiple sources (first reported by Scott Joseph in November of last year) that yet another Celebrity chef will be bringing his restaurant to Disney Springs with Rick Bayless' Fontera Fresco. Location has not been announced yet.

@BriMan I get that this thread is the Disney Springs Discussion thread, but doesn't this deserve it's own thread? And the thread as a whole is a bit redundant since the change from DTD to DS has already been made. The name of the topic should be changed and thread closed.

Give up on what? Isn't it a valid statement? Downtown Disney is no more, posting in a thread about Disney Springs changes redundant. The entire topic should be Disney Springs.

Still shocked by the number of upscale restaurants in an area that has never supported very many.

As I just recently said over at Magic, Disney Springs is sort of turning into World Showcase without the $100 entry fee - and much higher quality at that.

So far it seems demand is there though. Jock's is always full, as has been Boathouse and Morimoto.

DS will be a siren song to the Disney demo. Mediocre food piled on top of mediocre food all branded to TV personalities.

I'd be more interested if it was Skip Bayless.
