Whatever happened to the ongoing rumor of Tomorrowland receiving a Marvel-themed overhaul in the not-too-distant future?

Tomorrowland has been receiving overhaul rumors since the early 2000s after the 1998 Tomorrowland was a flop.

The past year or so the only world has been switching on and off between Marvel and Star Wars for an overhaul. At this point, I'm down for anything as long as the name "Tomorrowland" stays and they add in a lot of new rides and fix the esthetic of the land. I'd rather Marvel move into Tomorrowland than more star wars. I'd rather see a proper new star wars land in a 3rd park.

Also, Disney will be releasing that new movie called Tomorrowland with George Clooney next year, which will be a beautiful futuristic esthetic, so let's so how that does.

Apparently Mad T Party is going away in late November.

What a shame. I've seen the show a few times and they seem to be a class act. Excellent production quality and performers - as you would expect from Disney.

I liked the Mad T Party (although I liked the arcade on ElecTRONica more), sad to see it go but I hope this is the end of the night parties for DCA. They had a good four-and-a-half year run, but it's time for the park to put it behind them. Maybe they can finally restore the Sorcerer Mickey fountain.

Or well, considering what's coming as a replacement, it'll probably be Olaf.

I think I'm the only one who didn't really care for Mad T Party. I don't mind seeing it go.

Brace yourselves; Elsa is coming.

I just read a tweet that the night parties were "coming back" after Frozen leaves in May 2015. I really hope it's at least something new.

^ You think they'll construct a permanent stage?

No way in living hell will Disney get rid of the Hollywoowland Night Parties until WDI and Burbank agree on a permanent fix and replacement for that back corner of Hollywoowland. These parties are RIDICULOUSLY profitable and extremely popular with guests and especially annual pass holders. And once again: super profitable.

It's probably just temporarily going away for the rumored Frozen takeover of Hollywood Land for later this holiday season. They won't construct anything permanent. There's already a smaller permanent stage that small acts perform on the opposite side of the Mad T part stage. It's all temporary fun until Disney finds a fix for Hollywood Land.

I'm still waiting for them to figure out that area. I'm just not a fan of these party things, seems kinda tacky to me. Where's Monstropolis?!

Yeah it's tacky because of the temporary nature of all the rigs and stage and stuff. I think the Monstropolis idea died for now. I personally hope they keep the area as a part of Hollywood or a Hollywood sub land and take away any of the remainder "fake facades/backlot" theme of the land from circa 2001 and theme it ALL to the current "retheme" of classic golden age Hollywood Land and update all the facades and create the planned lobby and new facade for the Hyperion.

So much opportunity and many possibilities!

A new version of the Great Movie Ride, a Hollywood Gangster themed ride (like Dick Tracy, etc), a new ride similar to Mystic Manor in Hong Kong, but themed to an eccentric Movie Memorabilia collector's Hollywood Hills mansion, etc.

Or a Hollywood/movie based ride similar to the Great Movie Ride but with classic Disney characters (such as Mickey and Friends) in the famous roles! So much potential.

I don't know...for a temporary stage, it sure looks good.

It's not like Disney cheapened out on the area for Mad T. All that equipment and rigging doesn't come cheap.

No I know, it looks good by Disney standards, but it's very temporary. This is the 3rd retheme for the nightly Hollywood Land parties, Jon ;)

Can someone tell me what was there before Mad T Party? I don't remember a whole lot being there as a kid... then again, I was a kid.

Aha before Mad T Party, all of Hollywood Land became Tron land by night basically, called ElecTRONica, based on Tron Legacy. It was ridiculously cool and looked more like Tomorrowland than Tomorrowland, and they had a similar club party in the same location of Mad T party.

Before that, Sunshine Plaza and Hollywood Pictures Backlot became Glow Fest the first two years of World of Color, which was a non-Disney themed colorful rave party. It was originally created to help offset crowds who couldn't get Word of Color tickets or were waiting for their Word of Color time slot. But it become ridiculously popular, was extended twice, and spawned two similar events now.

I think the replacement should be Marvel themed. By day have a Marvel meet and greet there, and by night have an Avengers Block Party or something.

Ohhh, I remember ElecTRONica now. The first time I saw it in person, actually, it was toward the end of its run.

I think a Marvel-themed event would last a lot longer than Frozen. You'd also have a wider spectrum of characters for possible meet-and-greets. What a shame.

Glow Fest was Disney themed, don't you remember all those Mickey heads?  ;)

About four years prior to Glow Fest, the area was given a makeover with a very-nice-looking Sorcerer Mickey fountain (https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4128/5083232744_1df12d7ce6_z.jpg) and some DHS-esque signage, a new entrance for Muppet Vision, the "Hollywood Studios" arch and a retheme of the Studio Store. This of course, came with the opening of the Monsters Inc dark ride in later 2005. Assuming the Frozen themeing isn't too major, we should see a large part of that return.

And I agree with Allen, the ElecTRONica version was the best. Great atmosphere, great food, amazing arcade and even had an attraction (Tron: Legacy 4D experience)... although Glow Fest was very adorable and underrated. I like them all, but they felt a bit too temporary for me to give the full thumbs up. It needs the refresh every now and then.

Aha yeah, "hidden" Mickeys. Fun fact: Glow Fest was outsourced. A separate entertainment company created the temporary event for Disney.

Yeah the Mickey fountain was super cute. Apparently it's been damaged heavily due to all the temporary stages and infrastructure covering it 3 times now. I hope they restore it. Or dammit, just update all of Hollywood Land. It's more mish mash than Tomorrowland at this point. But yeah, all those "DHS" style updates are far from updates lol. Hollywood Land still needs a good reimagining.

As for their super popular parties, Disney can just port it all to the Tomorrowland Terrace. They have bands there for years anyway. Problem is no alcohol in Disneyland. DCA makes a good penny off of alcohol, and I honestly enjoy that. Where else could they out a party in DCA without screwing up any of the lands?

To change the subject a bit:

There is not a more gorgeous place on earth than the Disneyland Resort for the holidays. I'm obsessed with the winter holidays and I don't mind that they're pushed on us right after Halloween. It makes me feel so good inside, especially at Disneyland.

So it officially seems like MuppetVision is going to Yesterland.

WDI has been tearing out the props in the queue and totally redoing the theater to make it into a Frozen stage show. I don't think any of it is going to be reinstalled.

So... well you can still see it at DHS!

I really hope that's incorrect and that they eventually put it back together so that they could at least give California fans one more chance to see it.

The Muppet franchise deserves better than this :/

But this Frozen stuff for DCA is the 100% temporary. I can't wait until they just completely redo and refresh Hollywood Land and embrace the theme they promised during the park redo.
