Probably. However the proposed Marvel project has been pushed all the way til after SWL. (it shouldn't be IMO but it is what it is)

So it's going to be a long transition if so.

Yeah it seems like the smart thing to do would be to build it at the same time that way they can counterbalance the crowds.

Kinda sucks that DCA can't open anything right before or when SWL opens. I'll gladly take the Monsters Inc door coaster but apparently that's been scrapped. It would be nice if we got SOMETHING from Disney before Star Wars. It's just depressing to see such a serious drought of new attractions. I mean, we got Luigi's but still. Eh.

I wonder why they went through all of the trouble to make Super Hero HQ just to get rid of it soon after. I can only imagine they plan on expanding the Star Wars Launch Bay footprint to replace it, but I don't see why they didn't just open a Marvel Superheroes experience over in DCA from the start.

Yeah they could easily move it into Stage 17 or the former Hollywood and Dine building.

The speculation seems to be that Disney, much like they're doing with Epcot this year, considers this to be enough for DCA for now. So even though new Luigi's, Frozen show and new Soarin' doesn't any new capacity in any whatsoever, it's still three "new" attractions that gives them the rightaway to be able to ignore DCA for the next three years (at least) while they focus on Disneyland. Not to mention Food and Wine as well, which they will probably rely on heavily to get the spring crowds into DCA during that period too.

I mean, if they're going cheap they might as well add random drops on ToT like they've always wanted to. That along with a new World of Color could at least offset some crowds come 2019, so here's hoping they do something.

Just heard a rumor that the upper floor of the innovations building will become a Star Wars Land preview area once Marvel moves out at the beginning of next month. Not sure how much truth there is to that, if any at all.

I've been hearing that for a few weeks now from multiple people. I think it's likely.

How quickly would they get that up and running? Summer? Would Disney be willing to reveal the full layout of the new land this early?

Yeah everybody is saying that and it makes total sense.

Summer is the target, yeah. The heads of Disney and WDI are absolutely furious about the speed of which Universal has been getting projects done and reaping the rewards. The idea is to have Disney run in and pretty much sing, "Everything you can do, I can do better!"

That means no games, no BS: here is Star Wars Land, it's being built right now and your kids won't be in college by the time it opens. That's the message they want to send to guests who are coming down to SoCal and taking a day of from Disney to go visit Universal for Potter. They know those people will be there, and it's going to be aimed directly at them.

That's good to hear. I was hoping they would semi fast-track this project. The sooner it opens, the sooner they start making money off of us haha. Are we still thinking that Disneyland will get SW before Disney World?

We'll get it first. WDW loves to take their sweet time doing everything.

No thinks they'll open up both Star Wars lands at the same time? At least within a couple of months from each other? With ground being broken on both coasts next month, I would assume they'd want them both open fairly close to each other.

From what I'm aware, the sheer amount of infrastructure renovation and extra demo that has to be done should delay DHS' by six months to a year behind Disneyland's. However, Iger is putting the money pedal down on this. As soon as Shanghai opens in June, both of these become the #1 priority, even ahead of Avatar. (which won't open now until the end of 2017) Who knows if he just expedites that too to make DHS open much sooner.

If I had to guess what the end result will be, I think Star Wars Land in Anaheim will be undergoing soft openings three years from now, whereas Star Wars Land in DHS will be finishing up for the most part and will be open by November of 2019. I don't see at least one of these lands not opening before Episode 9 debuts.

Ground has already broken at Disneyland for a while now. While WDW just barely started demo. The "ground breaking" event next month is just a media thing.

Sure. But the point I was making was that both will start relatively at the same time.

Orlando will go much faster in terms of construction.  Simply with the fact of laws between the states.  California will always take longer.  But I do believe these will open rather close to each other as long as no major hiccups come into play.  I will guess 2019 for SWL, but could still easily be 2020. A 14 acre build cannot be easy.

It'd make some sense.

So, take it for what you will, but its being rumored that DL and WDW will be doing overlays to their TOT attractions to Guardians of the Galaxy. And yes, I wish that I am making the rumor up.

It came from WDWmagic and has since gotten more footing to the rumor that it'd be the case by other sources there.

^Remember that rumor a while back about switching out Aerosmith on Rockin' Roller Coaster for Mikey Cyrus. Yeah, I doubt this will happen.
