So, take it for what you will, but its being rumored that DL and WDW will be doing overlays to their TOT attractions to Guardians of the Galaxy. And yes, I wish that I am making the rumor up.


It came from WDWmagic and has since gotten more footing to the rumor that it'd be the case by other sources there.

I would hope that this isn't true, but this does come from a fairly reputable source and I honestly wouldn't put it past them. Hopefully this goes the same way as that stitch space mountain overlay

I agree that the two sources; Spirit and Marini from WDWMagic are reputable in their respective sorts. 


I have hope that the rumor is indeed, crap but anything is possible for WDI, considering recent missteps in Shanghai.

The issues in Shanghai are not WDI's fault. They're issues with the local laborers trying to cut corners on the park, and as a result, many structures have had to been torn down and rebuilt from scratch.

I was wondering if this rumor would find its way here and this is what I personally believe: it was a batshit crazy WDI blue sky pitch that was so insane that it made its way down the grapevine by fellow, snarky imagineers. 


Enough insiders have vouched about its existence that makes me certain that this was actually pitched in Glendale... but it's so, so stupid that I can't see anybody actually greenlighting it. This is probably like that Stitch Space Mountain overlay that was proposed: pitched, rejected, but laughed about so loudly it made its ways to the Internet.

It does make some sense as Tower of Terror is right next to the plot of land destined for Marvel. I could imagine Tower of Terror being incorporated into Marvel Land just like Dueling Dragons got incorporated into the Wizarding World in Florida.

I guess I just don't see how you could turn Tower of Terror into a plausible Guardians of the Galaxy story that involves falling elevators.

Something about the Collector but it still doesn't make a lick of sense. A property like GotG deserves its own ride anyways.

Apparently the issue isn't that they can't afford it, it's just that they don't want to pay for a property that isn't recognized anymore by there standards. I still find the whole thing stupid considering you would just have to take the twilight zone references out and have practically the same ride. If they really wanted to use one of their properties I'm sure there are IPs that would be much more fitting.

Or just... copy Tokyo. Zero R&D costs and no more licensing fees. 


I do disagree that Iger wouldn't go that route. It's quite arguable that HTH and ToT is an IP in itself at this point. It's an extremely iconic ride on both coasts, Twilight Zone or not.
