I'm sorry, I'm just not onboard with that idea at all. And to fully answer your post @HereWeGo, I have to ask one back: how does a Red Car Trolley fit in Marvel Land? Or next to um... whatever this is supposed to be? I don't know, but the idea that makes my stomach plummet is that it doesn't... so it's gotta go.  :(

Oh it doesn't fit at all. There's no question about that. It will absolutely have to go once the rest of Marvel starts showing up (which is a shame).

Eh. We can agree to disagree about The Little Mermaid haha. No worries though, I totally respect your opinion on that matter and I get where you're coming from.

I have no problem with them turning Hollywood Land into Marvel. It's going to be very awkward while they're making the transition but once it's all done I think it should be cool. But I agree with everyone that Guardians should be getting their own NEW ride and not an overlay to an existing one. They've had plenty of time (and money) to be cooking up ideas for something original. Hopefully, the rumors are true about us getting a fast, indoor, Captain America coaster.

But again, I was just pointing out that people seem to be saying that this is breaking the theme of the park, when the theme was broken long before this came along.

I don't think it's breaking the "theme" of DCA as a whole, but it is breaking that specific area which tears me apart. I am a total softie for DCA 2012, and it's painful we only got to spend less than a half-decade with those ideas retained.

The Guardians re-theme may seem odd in the sort term. But when you look at the long term plan of turning that side of the park into a full blown Marvel area it makes sense. The current TOT would not thematically fit with the future Marvel area.

Yes, Disney California Adventure is a bit of a toss up in terms of a holistic theme, but at least the entrance was cohesive.

That's kind of looking at this concept backwards, don't you think? How do you explain the Hyperion Theater?

There is a rumor that a major Frozen ride will be coming to Disneyland sometime after Star Wars Land opens. At that point they may not need the Frozen show anymore.

Okay, but how would it fit now? I don't understand your reverse logic here. How would Marvel fit near the park's entrance compared to Hollywood Land and the Tower of Terror?

The east side of Hollywood Land will be transformed into Marvel.

^ Oh wow that is a lot of land, if they were to do that.

Now that I think about DCA I never really thought/cared to much about the inconsistency of the theming until awhile ago. I always thought of California Adventures as the mature park next door that hosted more "extreme" rides compared to Disneyland. And I sort of think they should advertise that as such if they aren't already.

Anyways I just had a thought, if it's not converted into Marvel land completely wouldn't it just remain Hollywood land but they would just have to modernize it? I mean, technically Guardians is a Hollywood movie. Trying to look at the positives here.

You really think they're going to get rid of the Hyperion Theater - one of the best theaters Disney has in a theme park?

They could keep the Hyperion Theater and change the show.

But either way - the Hyperion Theater as it stands doesn't really fit in the theme of Marvel. It's located at the end of Hollywood Land, hence the backdrop.

No, the theater will stay, The side opposite GOTG from Hyperion to 17 will become New York, it'll still flow with Hollywood blvd, kinda.

Would you include the Muppetvision building into that, or is Muppetvision's building being saved for something else?

In the near future no. It's indefinitely planned to be flex space.

That's a shame. One more thing to ask, isn't there rumors that the Marvel Land (in this case, New York) would take over a portion of the current bus depot to the left of DCA (And by left, I mean as you go to Hollywood Backlot)? If that's so, could you share on if that is possibly happening to increase it's land size to possibly around 9 acres?

New York. Now if anything screamed California more than Hollywood, it's New York!

I heard back in the 80's, under Eisner, they announced plans to replace Mr. Lincoln with Muppet Vision 3D. We all know they filmed the footage at the end showing Main Street. Once everyone heard about it, the public was outraged over it and decided to leave it alone.

I wonder if we'll see a repeat of this incident. This is a huge stretch, but I wonder if Imagineering may come up with an alternative plan to work around the already shot footage/built props and build an alternate ride on its own for this. I know that's most likely not going to happen but there's no denying that no one has ever seen pushback like this before for s theme park replacement. With Universal adding rides like crazy and trying to win back their AP fan base, it's probably not a good idea to piss them off, especially with Nintendo coming.

And those arguing, "Well they need to make a Marvel land", that's going on the entire north side that no one cares about. They'll have a ton of space to work with (and I'm excited for it). They don't need to touch the Hollywood street. ToT can stay and it would still thematically fit looming over Marvel. It's obvious to everyone this is being forced and I HATE this.

^ I think there needs to a bit more outrage and hate over this for them to just scrap it. On the official concept art/announcement video I seen a person in the comments asking people to sign a petition to the Tower of Terror theme. Also there is a lot of anger and disappointed people saying how this is a bad idea. However there are still those very few people who are anticipating the ride and who are also excited. That is where I question the age of these commenters.

Now I'm not to old 19 going on 20, but the people saying that the Twilight Zone is unknown and irrelevant really angers me. Yes, there are barley people who know what the show was. And yes, it makes the ride a bit un-relatable in that sense. But that is not the point. I personally believe, the Twilight Zone is timeless, it is a very classic show that brought terrors to everyone. I only watched a few episodes before, but it was the movie the Hollywood Tower of Terror Hotel that deeply frightened me as a child. So obviously this is my bias opinion but I rather have a theme and franchise that is amazingly spooky and timeless than and comic book ride that will replace it only to be rebooted (if the comic book fad even lasts that long) in the next seven years.

And don't get me wrong I love comic book movies. I use to go to the theaters for nearly every one starting with Spiderman (2002). Starting that tradition again recently. But I also know that this will and has to eventually die off.

Slight correction: it was the early 90s and was never formally announced. Instead, it was being planned and a local newspaper grabbed the story which got complaints. The plans were then immediately dropped.

That said, I agree with everything else 100%. They are just fixing what isn't broken and not fixing what is.

Ah. Kind of hard to remember details when was barely even born yet. :P

But as I mentioned before, Disney should be very careful here. I know they want to reduce APs for crowd issues, but they may lose more than they want to if they get rid of a popular ride; that's especially with Universal opening up something as big as Nintendo. If there is enough distain, people may opt to spend more at USH.
