I don't believe so. Or more accurately, maybe they are, but they're in the movie BUSINESS, not the movie FRIENDSHIP. Making a quick buck is their job.
I'm always reminded of a story Stephen King tells in On Writing, where he's at a well-kown author's house, and he asks, "How do you feel about what the terrible movies have doe to your books?" The writer responds, "They didn't do a damned thing to my books, they're right there on my shelf, every word exactly as I wrote them." In other words, whether the remakes are awesome (Jungle Book) or terrible (none yet, IMHO, Maleficent is the worst so far but still pretty good) don't change a single frame of animation in the originals. Not a single thing is being "sold out," whatever that means.
