I find is concerning that people have an issue with a gay character but seem to have no problem with a woman and a beast falling in love.

Yeah, that's what the point of SNL News satire was last night. They said where's the rage from clergy that should be opposed & horrified at beastiality. It was pretty funny, but actually right on in a funny way.

To elaborate, it's an "Adult's Only" rating now, due to the, and I repeat; "overt shameless propaganda of sin, sexual perversion under guise of fairy tale".

That's absolutely ridiculous that Beauty and the Beast - BEAUTY AND THE BEAST - is considered "Adult's Only".

It's the same thing as what happened with an Overwatch comic a few months ago, which promoted an lesbian couple. That comic, was banned entirely from Russia, due to that one aspect, and it's frustrating that it happened.

I am so looking forward to this. Everything about it looks great. The characters, of course the story, and I think Emma sounded great singing and she will do a great job acting out Belle. Of course she is not Paige O' Hara, but she is not trying to be and no one is asking her to be. She is just putting her own twist to it.

For the most part, OU Forums are civil & friendly. There's the occasional heated discussion, but they're fairly rare.

I can handle a heated discussion if people can back up what they are saying with facts and don't get personal and start throwing insults at one another. I don't have time for that.

Does anybody else see this and all the other live action films as Disney selling out for a few years for a quick buck?

I don't believe so. Or more accurately, maybe they are, but they're in the movie BUSINESS, not the movie FRIENDSHIP. Making a quick buck is their job.

I'm always reminded of a story Stephen King tells in On Writing, where he's at a well-kown author's house, and he asks, "How do you feel about what the terrible movies have doe to your books?" The writer responds, "They didn't do a damned thing to my books, they're right there on my shelf, every word exactly as I wrote them." In other words, whether the remakes are awesome (Jungle Book) or terrible (none yet, IMHO, Maleficent is the worst so far but still pretty good) don't change a single frame of animation in the originals. Not a single thing is being "sold out," whatever that means.

Umberto Eco once said something similar in reference to his "Name of the Rose", that the book belongs to he and the movie to Annaud, and they are two separate things.

The film faced another issue this week with Malaysia slapping a PG-13 rating after almost banning the film as well. With this, the film is now postponed for another day.

I don't think it's selling out, it's not like they are the only movies they are releasing. Between the new animated titles, Pixar projects, Lucasfilm and Marvel, they are still really smashing it.
