Last night Jim Hill brought up the idea that the closed attractions had little impact on actual guest satisfaction in the park. Discuss.

Uhh.. I've been saying this since they were announced. As if the closing of these attractions has had any real impact on anyone's day at DHS, let's be real.

It's great to see that you now think in "Parent Time"!

My littlest Princess will be a college senior by then.

And I'll be dead.

I would guess that the closed attractions weren't on the high side of customer satisfaction, so that is probably right in a narrow way. But, & it's a big but, now there's such a decreased capacity in a park that didn't have much capacity before, that even GMR now has long lines and so do the other few attractions, that I would believe that guest satisfaction will drop with the increase of standing in long lines & the early in the day disappearance of fastpass availability.

Ok, I'm confused. Who has a big but?

There comes a point where people are going to ask, "What the hell is open?"

Once LMA closes people will realize that literally half the park has NOTHING in it. People will be upset.

Has attendance shifted lately? I mean I would just love to know for curiosity sake, what the implications (financially, perceptionally) would be if they closed the park for a year or two. Couldn't they save some operational costs, allocate team members to other parks, and really have no limitations in doing construction? I feel like it would be beneficial as you can truly go to town in demolition/renovation. I mean yeah its one less offering, but it shows that they realized the park is in trouble and that it isn't worthy of paying customers until its ready. I feel like that would speak volumes in itself.

First off I get what your saying, cause with the exception of the Studio Tour the other closures are meh in anyones visit to DHS. But on the other side of things think about the parents who just shelled out 500 bucks for 5 tickets to DHS cause they keep hearing about all this Frozen Celebration stuff for their daughters. Then realizing that half the park is vacant compared to other parks like MK, Epcot, USF, IOA, and SWO. People may tend to blow this off but people will notice and I feel bad for the front line CM's who are gonna have a rough couple of years there.

I'd like to monitor the turnover rate and per guest spending at DHS over the next 5 years compared to the other 3 parks. I'd love to get my hands on something like that.

I took one of my little sisters to the Frozen Summer Fun event this past Sunday and wow, I've NEVER seen the park less crowded. Most things were a walk on and TSMM didn't make it past 45 minutes :saywhat: Bear in mind I'm not using my experience to say that the park is always like that, I've just never seen it as less crowded as I did that day.
The event was decent this year! The stage for the Sing along was well done and the actors/ actresses were believable. The stage show with Olaf "Olaf's Summer Cool Down" however (excuse me, I just puked in my mouth thinking of that wretched animated piece of solidified water :ack:) My little sis looked up to me and told me it was stupid  Other than that, there wasn't much I could complain about except for the lack of an Elsa and Anna meet and greet. Not for my sake, but can you imagine how many little kids must have been upset when they learned they couldn't meet ANY Frozen characters AT THE FROZEN EVENT!?!?!?!? :saywhat:

Wow, so this is already being reported AND it's set to be a bigger overhaul than even DCA. So this would basically be Disney admitting failure on their part for a stateside theme park for the 2nd time in half a decade. Cool.

Make it two and a half times with Epcot - Future World and throw a billion at that too.

I don't see it being $3B for DHS. That's just too much. DHS is in bad shape, but it can be rectified quickly with a handful of additions. We're realistically looking at half of that rumor.

With the rumors of Indiana Jones getting a new film around 2018, it seems wise that Indy will have some sort of role for the expansion. What they would do though? that we won't know till its announced..

It's good to see the park finally getting some attention since 1989. It was never a question of half day for me, it was whenever I got done riding the park's only two rides: Tower of Terror and Rock N Rollercoaster. (eh, I'll make it 3 for Star Tours)

I have heard nothing about more Indy coming. All kinds of other stuff, but not The Indiana Jones Adventure.

Of course, this wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. I was married for 18 years. I'm used to being wrong.

It should be interesting to see what is really happening once something is officially announced. (I certainly don't doubt a major overhaul is happening, but some of the details being reported such as the budget could very well be pie in the sky/fanboy dreaming.)

I wouldn't expect a big announcement that covers everything. More like a string of announcements over a 3 year period.

Disney announced the California Adventure refurb (not all the details of course) but nonetheless did announce the entire redesign for the park, so I would expect something similar in the near future.
