I don't really know much about the normal legislative/corporate relations process. But seeing that Rep. Markey read about Disney's intentions in a very public and Disney approved article in The New York Times I don't see why he wouldn't address this publicly. As representative of the people of Mass., it is his job to protect his constituents and wouldn't you want your boss to know that you are doing your job?

I can't agree more, and I said as much about his duty as a Congressman. I don't begrudge him his right to champion a cause he has taken up for years in relation to Disney's recent self-induced chirping in the New York Times. I am also not naive enough to realize that he relished the opportunity to come out swinging with that letter, rather than have his staff call one of Disney's full-time K Street lobbyists/reps first, whom I am sure he is well acquainted.

Just trying to be fair about all of this. Without question I am glad to see Disney looking more and more out of their league on this whole initiative.

Where things get tricky is guest assistant cards. I am wondering if these will also be hooked to the bracelets, because then they can track this over time and see if they have too many and need to decrease fast passes given out. Of course what I think this will bring along is tighter restrictions on them being given out. Because today they are given out way too easily. They might even find a way to enforce that the handicapped person is actually riding the ride, because this is not always enforced either. I agree if they just increase fast passes without the proper studies, it will increase wait times. But as I stated, there is no evidence they plan on doing this.

Great point to raise, and I hope what you say comes to fruition. Especially at DL, this accommodation has spiraled out of control over the last 15+ years. About the same time period as the tenure of FP.

And I also agree that the limit on AP holders needs to be solved. But I am not sure how. Because they can't give unlimited, that would be unfair to non-AP holders. It would also cause some people to book in advance for days they "think" they will go and then never use them because there is no penalty. I think a good way to do this is limit this based on your average usage. So if you used your pass on average 10 times a quarter, then you would get 40 passes with a limit of only being able to use 4 a day (if others are limited to 4 a day). I doubt they will do this though as it is complex. Because each quarter your average usage would change.

I highly doubt this will happen. More than likely APs will be restricted to so many in a given time period, and there will only be a certain amount that are refundable if the AP wants to cancel and reschedule. Just my guess. The bigger question I have not been able to figure out is how Disney plans to accommodate (and regulate) offsite guests (either tourist or local) who are buying a multiday ticket. How do they open up certain days of the schedule sporadically without verifying their corresponding hotel stay? If anything is ripe for abuse under the new system, it will be people with multiday tickets who are not registered on the Disney resort grid. Left unchecked by Disney, people could be all over the map grabbing times.

P.S.> It just occured to me, I guess I am slow and don't pay as much attention, that this is more than likely why they are phasing out the "Non-expiration" option on multiday tickets. It wouldn't be for pricing since it is already price set to make Disney whole. It perhaps would have to be to cut down on the potential 'gaming' of the FP+ system if the ticket has to expire within 14 days, and cannot be resold, etc.

I agree. I have a guest assistance card for my son and wow, I was shocked at how it works. But I really don't want to get into the details because then I feel that is opening a can of worms that will allow others to abuse it more than it already is. But the amount of abuse with it is amazing. I even once was sitting there waiting for my hubby to get out of the restroom and there was a handicapped guy sitting with his family. His family went off to ride something without him and came back 1 minute later and said, oh we forgot our fast pass and the guy handed over the guest assistance card. They even called it fast pass. It made me mad because I know when people abuse a system like that it is then taken away from the people that really need it. We could use it when my son doesn't ride something because my son and hubby have the same name. But we don't, we don't feel it would be fair. It is not meant to allow us to skip lines, it is meant to allow my son to actually be able to ride the rides he is capable of riding and without the pass that would not be possible.

I agree, I think we will be stuck with a set amount of passes. I also think multi day passes will be an issue. This is also why I state until the system is fully implemented I am reserving my judgement, because I just don't know what is going to happen. Yes, we know what the overall system is going to be, but how they will handle certain things is really what is going to make or break this system and it is those little things that are an unknown right now.

And this guy works security at Disney. Not someone I really want knowing my kids info at all

http://wap.wftv.com/wap/news/text.j...tle=More+Local+News&headtitle=More+Local+News

Two central Florida men are facing similar child porn charges, and investigators said both suspects have connections to local theme parks.

Detectives said they arrested Thomas Wheeler, 46, at his home on Fox Loop Lane in Davenport.

Wheeler is a retired master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force who told detectives he worked as a security guard at Disney World's Animal Kingdom, authorities said.

"Our agency, working with other ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) partners, will continue to actively investigate anyone participating in this despicable victimization of children, and when we find them, they will go to jail," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

Wheeler's son said he couldn't believe his eyes as agents hauled his father away to jail.

"I turned around the corner there, (and) the door was busted open," said Wheeler's son, Chris Wheeler. "The sheriff's department was telling me to get on the ground."

Investigators said Wheeler's computer revealed numerous images of children between the ages of 9 and 11 years old who were engaged in sexual activity.

Wheeler confessed to detectives that he had been viewing child pornography for several years out of curiosity. Investigators said Wheeler also said he enjoyed viewing the images because of the "innocence" of the children.

Disney said Wheeler is on paid leave from his job.

The second arrest was made at the Outdoor Resort mobile home park on Highway 192 in Clermont. Officers said they arrested Edward Freiberger, 67, who told them he also enjoyed visiting several local theme parks.

The investigation began after detectives said they received 11 cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Freiberger told detectives he was unemployed but had retired from a nuclear power plant.

Investigators said they found more than 60 images of child pornography on Freiberger's computer. They said the images were of children as young as 6 months old and that some of the children were being sexually battered.

Detectives said they also found a notepad containing the email, age, clothing description and a request for Mike's Hard Lemonade for a child Freiberger was planning to meet at the Altamonte Springs Mall.

Officers said Freiberger, however, denied meeting a child but did admit to talking sexually to them in online chatrooms.

Detectives said Freiberger provided a full confession, claiming he didn't know it was illegal to download child pornography, and admitted he derived pleasure from watching a sexual battery video.

Detectives said they also removed 15 high-powered rifles, shotguns and handguns from Freiberger's residence.

Freiberger and Wheeler were booked into the Polk County Jail.

"The graphic images discovered in this investigation were not just images of children without clothes, these images are horrific displays of children being forced to expose their genitals, forced to perform sexual acts – images of children being raped," said Judd.

That's a great list DH. Orlando, and the Disney parks specifically, attract a lot of this pond-scum, and I think it is helpful that there is a historical list of it out there to highlight this concern.

I'm not in anyway defending this as it's terrible and it definitely could cause some major concern with NexGen, however, with the amount of people that work at WDW, there's bound to be a few issues like this every now and again. It's almost unavoidable. However twice in the last two months is a little alarming.

With all of this unexpected Next Gen/Magic+ bad publicity, I would expect Disney to perhaps alter some of the aspects of Next Gen/Magic+ that were in the potential mix. The privacy concerns may ultimately work out since they're now under a microscope of public opinion and government oversight. The area that most affects my vacation plans are the pre planned somewhat limited fastpasses. I used the paper system fastpasses quite to my advantage previously, and the new system will not acommadate as well. I also don't like the inflexibilty of the new system since the numbers don't probably project out to allow much in the way of same day E ticket availability. I plan vacations to a degree, since when we are in Orlando we're there for two or three weeks, but I sure don't want to plan ride times in advance. I even dislike doing months ahead dining reservations at Disney since it greatly restricts vacation flexibility. I've really gotten to the point that I prefer our Universal portions of the vacations to Disney. Everything at Universal is at walking distance. That, combined with the on site hotel Express passes (we stay at Portofino) makes for a truly relaxing casual vacation. Due to this Next Gen/My Magic+ initiative, we have cancelled our Disney portion of the vacation this year, and will stay at Portofino for the entire trip. I'll wait until this system's kinks are worked out until I return to Disney. Plus, Universal's ambitious expansion has us really excited, while Disney relishes in their former glory without much in the way of new attractions. Better to have invested much of that Next Gen money into new attractions......As a somewhat humorous aside: Didn't Universal's Terminator 2 attraction predict Disney's Next Gen initiative? LOL...

OK, both of these men are sick. But security would not have access to any information with the Magic+ system. So not sure how this ties into the NextGen. Security are the people checking your bags or standing around the park. Not near a computer at all.

Now the fact that they were around that many kids makes me sick, but not sure Disney could have prevented this since he probably passed his background check.

Doesn't shock me. Do you know how many arrests are done for this per adult in this country. I think that would surprise you. So any major company with a ton of employees probably would have the same number. Not to mention that people like this would go for jobs that involve kids. But most of the jobs on this list again would not have access to a lot of information, if any with the new nextgen.

I did a quick search for hospital workers arrested for porn and came up with a ton of hits. And think not only do those workers have access to your children's records, BUT they have access to your children's bodies when they are in the hospital. Or even if not able to be alone with your child, they see them dressed in less clothing. Same with doctor offices.

Don't even get me started on daycare workers....

So while I understand what you all are saying, I am saying it happens all the time and as a parent you just have to be cautious and be around your kids whenever possible.
