ET is no where near the same league as Haunted Mansion or Pirates. Come on now.

I wasn't saying it was. I was drawing the comparison because in the context of USF, ET occupies that same kind of position: an older, classic-style dark ride that exists as a snapshot of the sort of attractions the company was building at that time. I think it's the closest equivalent the Studios has to those.

I don't disagree! My "#1 ride of all time" pick fluctuates between Spidey and Mansion.

Lol never did get around to posting that. Eh.. I'll post it here anyways...

If they replaced the AAs in ET and replaced the static figures with AAs then I would say it wouldn't be too out of a place in the current attraction line-up. The ride is just so obviously old and not in a nostalgic sort of way.

I can see Universal significantly upgrading ETs queue and the actual ride when they build NintendoLand like USH did to Shrek while building WWoHP.

That's like comparing apples and oranges. Why compare these two attractions? Yeah they're both dark rides but pretty much every single thing about them is different. Especially when one of them is highly considered to be the best ride of all time (my personal favorite too). It's unfair and makes no sense

Because Belloq said this:

Not every ride in these parks needs to be some state-of-the-art piece of work. Haunted Mansion looks like a late '60s/early '70s dark ride, but that doesn't mean it's not an incredible attraction.

Now allow me to clarify since the whole thread derailed

When I say upgrade, I'm not saying it needs to be completely reworked, I'm just saying it needs to be updated. Something akin to what Disneyland did for Alice. Same ride, same charm, but updated with some new tech to help bring the story/ride to life.

ET's age (specifically part of the pre-show and the forrest scene) doesn't have the same charm as Mansion, or Pan.

I agree on the update, I disagree that ET has less charm than pan. Pan looks like a run down flea market dark ride. The new line for it is phenomenal but the ride itself is absolutely embarrassing. The way tinker bell wobbles around on a string, the easy to see black curtains during the Big Ben scene, the gross looking static figures (the teddy bear is standing by himself) and the horrible voice overs and sound throughout the entire attraction makes it the most overrated attraction in orlando for me. If a semi dated pre show and forest scene (that's not bad at all IMO) makes it way less "charming" than that mess, I don't know what to tell you

I think both Pan and ET need updated. They both have good and bad parts and some of their bad parts are really bad. Like you can see ET scenes reset and stuff like that. But you can see the hinge like things in the elbow of the Pan characters. My personal opinion they are equal. Pan has a bigger draw for the kids since it is more relevant than ET is for the under 10 crowd. Hence the longer lines for Pan.

and that's fine. Just a difference of opinion, but I wasn't calling it to be demoed or completely overhauled into some new screen ride like some interpreted my original post.

Here's my two cents:
Pan: Timeless IP and definately has a lot of nostalgia, even more in Disneyland where it's been around for 60 years. However, is very cheaply made by today's standards and some parts are just plain bad looking.
E.T.: A timeless, although slightly lesser so IP that also has notalgia, just not as much. Definately has higher production value then Pan, some of which holds up today great, some of which is just as bad as Pan.

This and the fact that Pan is a cartoon gives it more leeway for realism. E.T.'s initial scenes also just look way too static in some places.

Not likely but could they take ET away and bring it back years later like Kong?

Is Universal plotting to remove E.T.

How much longer does E.T. Adventure have?

Plus the movie make up show is essentially a different show than the original, just with a horror theme.

In a curious way, I do think It will close but only for a short period time to get the new entrance and exit locations in order.
