In a rather..large news for the tourism circuit, Disney has effectively canceled that of their Halloween event.

Yep, calling tomorrow to cancel my A-list. Sad, but happy to do it after those comments. Way to just totally f up AMC. They’re certainly adding to the “political controversy” by doing this. Disgusting

Truth be told... what would they do about enforcing masks? They are like seaworld operating on a shoestring. Everyone sits down in their theaters and take off their masks. What are they going to be able to do about it? Refund tickets and send everyone packing? These are desperate times and it will catch up to the many who are desperate. So many Catch-22’s.

Unless... the state mandates it.

Even if the state mandates it (like CA just has), masks still come off to eat popcorn and soda, which they have no intention of not selling. Same rules as restaurants, basically.

At this point, I wonder if Disneyland starts exerting influence. That is nuts.

What the hell does a PANDEMIC have to do with politics? The coronavirus don't care about your politics.

Ugh, sometimes I really hate this country.

They are adhering to the state guidelines in each theater. So if the state mandates it, so will they. If the state has said “no masks” so will they. Did people not click the link and only see the slightly inaccurate paraphrase in the blurb?

Which means tthey are doing the absolute bare minimum and they don't actually want their customers wearing masks or care about the safety of their employees.

Exactly. This spreads the most indoors. Florida doesn’t mandate masks, yet Universal is making it mandatory because it’s the way you stay open. You protect your customers and employees by mandating masks. It’s the smart thing to do especially in an indoor setting like a movie theater.

I love A-list...but think I will only go back if CA makes people wear masks and its being enforced.

I love the statement "We don't want to get political" because a % of people don't beilive it lets piss off the bigger percent of people who do?

Curious- does your position extend to all restaurants and stores as well?

Basically, everyone should be wearing a mask everywhere?

Just trying to understand why the amc thing is different (or maybe to you it’s not) from all the other businesses that are making similar “follow the state” decisions.

Side note- had to take a four hour drive through multiple towns today- saw an unbelievable amount of help wanted signs in every town. This was in Illinois.

Restaurants, stores, you name it. Often all right next door to each other.

Movie theaters make most of their money from concessions. They don't make much from ticket sales. A movie theater will never voluntarily require face masks as that would kill food and drink sales.

So lets risk the health of our customers and employees?

They can at least require them when you come in and when not eat, yes the second on is harder to enforce but at least make an effort to keep people safe.

Yes, in fact, Orange County FL Mayor Jerry Demmings put a mask mandatory for restaurants if you aren't eating. If you are in a store, all staff and customers should have to wear masks. I wish it would be a requirement to enter the stores, i'd certainly feel a hell of a lot more comfortable.

I know, and that's because our President has made it so. He makes everything political instead of trying to heal.

Point is, this isn't Science-fiction we're dealing with, this is Science-fact, despite what many would want to lead you to believe.
