That's actually what we ended up with, haha. We're filling 50 L carboys with it to transport to each unit.

What % of revenue to Disney make from what Shanghai Disney brings in? Or is it a kind of a Tokyo licensing deal situation?

They're something like 43 to 46 %, off the top of my head, ownership.

(edit missed the above note, but I didn't use WDWNT to find it)

They’re probably just happy to see revenue coming through to stem the tide a little.

I wonder if they’re still profitable with the added measures, reduced capacity etc

If Disneyland and world open, and the audience is mainly annual pass holders, I wonder how they judge the value of opening at all. Suppose it’s on hotel occupancy.

This is probably going to be a really loooong recession for Orlando, much longer and deeper than other areas of the country. The tourist & travel industry is going to take a long time to bounce back, and looking at polls across a bunch of Disney sites, the people who vacation aren't very enamored with Chapek saying they will 'probably' be required to wear masks in the parks (more mask resistance than I expected), saying they'll probably not spend the money for a lessened experience. The locals might, but they're not that big of the revenue source. Seeing that resistance, I'm lowering my personal opinion estimates for how many out of state tourists will come to WDW, unless Disney changes course. Almost nil international travel for a good while. It's going to be tough on all the restaurants, other entertainment venues, hotels etc. And when the Federal $600 extra weekly unemployment money ends in late July, and local people have to try to live off the measly $150 to $250 Florida weekly unemployment checks (still 12 weeks only?), and job openings are few, it's going to be even tougher down there, with less cash than right now. And not looking like any more national stimulus for a good while. Generally I lean towards optimism, but in Orlando's case, and so much uncertainty from WDW operations wise, all I see are more dark clouds on the horizon. I feel bad for my Florida friends. :(

It’s certainly priming the well if nothing else.

Being able to sell .10 of coke for $5, or $3 of food for $14 or $1 of merchandise for $30 is where the real money is to be made. And even pass holders, after being pent-up, are going to jump on that.

I’m very, very curious what the reservation system will be like in the rare event that the demand surpasses the capacity.
I mean, disney has been training us on this for years (rush to get availability before another disney guest can get it)

I'm glad to hear the head of Disney talk about baby steps....to me its insane Disney isn't just pushing through and just opening parks everywhere. But im surprised in a good way, never thought I'd see them put health over public safely

Seeing the online responses to people being told that you'll probably have to wear a mask makes me not want to go to the parks until there is a vaccine.

This isn't even just about the wearing of a mask, it's the mentality. If somebody isn't prepared to listen to the reasons why a mask would be essential for the safety of everybody then it wouldn't be a crazy thought that the same person could test positive for COVID and still go out in public.

I had initially planned to revert this trip to September but I just don't see it. Too much of a risk and too much going on.

This is basically my view as well. I want to go. I will hate missing HHN should it happen this year.

But I just do not trust the people who go to theme parks to take this seriously and do what needs to be done to be safe.

People need to realize that it's another opportunity to theme out their outfits. They're already used to buying fancy lanyards, magic bands, Disney ears, "I'm just here for the boos" t-shirts, etc, etc etc.

If parks lean into producing fun versions, people will start getting into it. The somewhat rational ones, at least.

Exactly. No reason to go to Orlando for a vacation until you can not only be safe, but have a full experience in return for the large sums spent on a vacation. But locals are in a different situation. Going to the parks for a day trip, and wearing a mask, shouldn't be that big of a deal. And since they live nearby and can go anytime, it's not as essential for them to get a full experience like a tourist that only gets to the parks during an expensive vacation. A family of four staying on site at Disney is spending apx. $1000 plus/minus a day, depending on the level of hotel. Why spend that much for an uncomfortable and limited vacation. Better to wait until things get close to normal. There's other places to visit, parks mountains etc. for less money and an unfettered experience out in the wide open spaces, where distancing doesn't matter.

LA extending its stay at home through July not only cripples tourism for the entire summer, but film and TV production for MONTHS.

L.A. County could keep stay-at-home orders in place well into summer, depending on conditions

Los Angeles County's stay-at-home orders will 'with all certainty' be extended for the next three months, Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said.

I think you're underestimating the control that you have as well. You can keep distance. You can make sure you have your hands washed. You can make sure you don't touch your face. etc.
You have more control over your safety at the parks that you might give yourself credit for.

But the question therein lies: How enjoyable is it going to be to fret about every freakin' thing? I think if you don't have that 'carefree' attitude, it will be a miserable experience. There will be both types, but only one will walk away happy they went and the other will have an absolutely terrible time. Which is Ironic, of course, because you'd rather not have the carefree person there; but it's going to turn out that in reality, that's the only person that should go.

I saw this. And of course, there's no follow-up of "Curious- what do you expect to be different in July than today?" Or "what if home testing isn't viable in that time frame or the results are wildly inaccurate?" Just "Oh, ok Mrs. Ferrer. No more questions." God forbid there's an actual discussion.

I have some family in the TV industry in LA, and the entire system has seemingly ground to a halt. They are projecting a big content drought that will be hitting later this year, if it hasn't already begun.I think it was Iger that talked about overhauling the pilot process, and we may very well see that come to fruition.
