I feel like the USO park is becoming "soul-less" compared to IOA......if it weren't for Potter, ET and Minions, I really feel an emotional disconnect with the park. That is what has me a bit worried with future lands and attractions at Universal......F&F, Nintendo, etc. They may have super cool rides......but people won't have a genuine emotional connection to the IPs and characters like ET, Kong, Potter, Suess, and JP. Maybe that is their plan? Mega tech that wows the public.......but with relatively limited shelf lives that they can change out every decade when the new "it" IP comes along.

You are really reaching here....I'm not a fan of F&F, but I am in the extreme minority considering the recent box office numbers. Nintendo has three decades of fans. You think Theme park fanboys are crazy? Have you ever seen a Smash Bros. Competition?

Have you seen the Amibos sales numbers? (last I heard they are selling better then the console itself).

Nintendo land will attract a large number of people to the park, on nostalgic/emotional attachment alone.

Mario is one of the most endearing and well-liked characters in the world. Not to mention Link, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, etc. People will have an emotional connection. As for F&F, people don't make the movie the 4th highest grossing ever without an emotional connection.

Agreed entirely on Nintendo, but F&F never had much of an emotional connection outside of the recent passing of Paul Walker - arguing box office alone doesn't work when Avatar exists. That said, the flimsy theme of "family" appeals to some people, and it's nice to have such a huge blockbuster that features so many men and women of color in starring roles - that's definitely the demographic they're courting with this ride.

I'd agree that the box office argument for one movie means nothing in a vacuum. But 5,6, and 7 have all kept rising to bigger and bigger impressive grosses. People clearly care about these characters.

Nintendo has just of an emotional connection to people as Potter does, if not more.

That's fair. I'd argue it's more about the actors than the characters themselves - I couldn't name a single character from these films, and I've seen a few - people love them some Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, etc. But a connection is a connection, and it's fun to watch all these superstars quip and drive fast things that go boom.

Which is why, even though I don't think the Supercharged script captures the high points of the series, the GP will eat it up. They're in a ride with a bunch of legit Hollywood stars and they're probably gonna like that no matter what.

That emotional connection was towards the late Paul Walker, who is not in the ride due to, ya know, being dead.

Also, with box office in mind, OBVIOUSLY everyone had an emotional connection to Avatar, right?

Again, that doesn't account for the movie before making 800 million dollars. More than most movies. People like these characters.

They like them in a fun popcorn movie kind of way.

And to my point that I added on, if you are going to use box office as reference, then people must REALLY love Avatar, right?

If Avatar 2 comes out and makes more money or the same amount of money as the first? Sure, that will show people actually like the world and it wasn't a huge one hit wonder.

Well if it's a clone, it will take a long time for me to experience it, because there's no way I would wait more than 20mins for this. Looking forward to Fallon I guess lol, until then I'll keep hoping for else...

After reading the debate last weekend about whether this attraction will be a clone or not; I was surprised no one reacted to the cropped pic I posted Saturday morning. This (pic) is the reason why I strongly believe there is still hope for this to be it's own unique ride.... maybe with bit and pieces of USH highlights, but not a RV Tram. The full pic shows a very early stage "As I was told" prototype RV for FF ride. The cropped version of the pic here tell us that it is definitely not a tram, lower capacity but single cart (more can be attached to the other), and the looks of a fake steering wheel. I am not saying this WILL BE the RV, but one thing I can say for sure is that this "Thing" is seating at USF backlot as we type.

What's wrong with the characters in Avatar? Sure the movie has a tad generic storyline, but I thought the actual characters were emotionally convincing, and I generally felt concern for their demise in the film. Avatar is one movie, and it's about to become 3 more movies. Jim Cameron is pretty good at what he does. I have a feeling these next movies will do plenty well, maybe not AS well, but well enough.

Sure you're not looking at an old Delorean shell, pal?

I'll go out on a limb and say it's not. The DeLorean didn't have a wheel.

With that being said, I'm not sure that rig is for F&F. Might be for something, but I doubt it's for F&F

Why did ultranel think that was a prototype for a ride vehicle? It looks more like a go-kart prop for HHN... really.

Not liking what I'm hearing about this ride at all. While I'll obviously wait to pass full judgement until the ride actually opens, both this and the Fallon thing seem very underwhelming. Volcano Bay WILL be the big ticket in 2017 for Universal I believe.

As for the Hollywood version, I have four friends that have ridden it so far(only one is a theme park junkie) and only one liked it. Two of them said it was way too corny and cheap looking. I'm going to generally believe what my friends tell me about the ride over the general public, especially because they know me and how much I love places like Universal. Still, I'm waiting and holding out hope.

I of course, like many others have been hoping for a FAST ride. Transformers was a big miss to me because of lack of robots on a ride about ROBOTS. Fast and the Furious not having anything about it being fast or us the guest being in cars would just be miss number 2.

I agree with mainejeff that USF feels 'disconnected' unlike IOA. I used to prefer USF over IOA, especially when Jaws, Back to the Future, and Kongfrontation were all still around. Nowdays, it really feels disjointed. So many properties shoved into places...Simpsons overhaul of BTTF, Fear Factor Live? (Yuck), Despicable Me overlay of Neutron/Hanna Barberra, Rockit sticking out like a sore thumb, the Mummy built in New York replacing Kong? Transformers plopped down between Hollywood, New York and Production Central. A good ride is important, but the theming of the area around the ride also sets the tone.

Personally, id rather they tear down Disaster and Beetlejuice and build an all-new Mummy ride themed to the nines like Singapore's version, and then throw a Fast and Furious coaster in the building formerly used by Mummy.

..you have forgotten Diagon in that statement of whats now at Jaws. Ontop of that; Disaster and Beetlejuice (in my personal opinion) is a damaged shell of a ride and show.

Transformers..I also don't get what you mean about a lack of robots. For one, they are with you in the line, and on the ride, your IN a Autobot.

Then lets just be honest; ever since Fast Five, its not been about racing the fast cars or the women; even though it usually gets atleast one scene now. Its all about the thrill of being with the people you relate to. And sure, the cars are what makes the film cool to look at but they aren't the focus of attention like they once were with The Fast & Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift. Now, you could argue Fast & Furious took it to blend both but that was to get the fans back in the series.

Universal Florida has atleast a SOUL. Sure, its hard to see it but there is one; and atleast the past few additions for the park (excluding Diagon) has that sense of FUN. And lets be honest; as much as I love BTTF, I love what they did with Simpsons now, it works for the area around it and has a nice attraction that gets people in.

My point being, The stuff they brought in is fun, and we need to atleast give Universal the benefit of the doubt.

lol you guys just couldn't resist saying it, so I won't either. This is the Kong ride system. I'm hearing more of an armored-vehicle look for the RVs.

Funny, I was thinking something similar (and I know virtually nothing of how it will look). I was thinking of a suped-up military transport or something like that.

Makes me have a good feeling about the line video due to the Tram videos themselves, do need to get fixed before the ride opens.

I'm pretty sure that they've done their due diligence on this ride before announcing it for USF. I mean the Hollywood ride hasn't even been open more than 6 months, they must have been planning and designed the version for here. I'm not excited for the ride but I'm going to shun it before it's even built. I'll save that after I ride it once.
