Finished The Idol!
While it is one of the most cringeful and asinine writing examples in the first half of the show, with how over sexualized it is: the story of Jocelyn and Tediros, and the “family” they are part of is fantastic. A lot of the writing when it remembers to be a competent show is actually rather good, and Lily Rose-Depp is understandably a genuine diamond here with how she depicts the rebuilding Jocelyn.
As for Abel, when he is not a cringy middle schooler, he also does remarkably well too. It’s a lot more emphasized on his facial expressions and the more subtle dialogue when he gets to properly act.
It is a mess and I wish things were handled better, but I am walking away liking the show much more than I thought I would’ve
